Title: Travelling Home From Work...
Description: And stopping to get a takeaway.

Robert Thompson - December 6, 2004 07:55 PM (GMT)
Robert squinted somewhat, a clear furrow showing on his forehead. The dimly lit tram owed it’s only source of illumination to a flickering fluorescent light swinging from the ceiling. It must have been at least 2 in the morning, although thankfully the sun would not rise for another few hours, hopefully. Tonight’s shift at the docks had unfortunately not provided much chance for a meal-well a crack addict had stumbled his way but Robert wasn’t too keen on their taste.

He breathed with a hint of excitement, a young woman of no more than 20 had stepped onto the carriage. She was swinging a red faux-leather purse around merrily, appearing obviously drunk. Easy bait, if he could get her alone, but it would be somewhat cruel. As hungry as he was, Robert felt an unpleasant feeling of guilt at the thought of attacking an innocent bystander. Then again, he needed food-a minor justification would be that he wouldn't actually kill her.

A screeching signified that the train had started moving again. The young woman had by now sat down on a stained plastic chair, and had sent hima peculiar look of either disgust or pity. He couldn’t really tell in the twig light. Hah! Not really surprising, I look like a dirty tramp. Robert was nonchalantly picking at an unravelled bit of cotton from his jacket. Two thuggish looking youths were tucked away in one of the darker corners of the tram, along with a crowd of of various sorts crowding on the other end of the tram.

(OOC: open to vamps or mortals.)

Napha - December 7, 2004 01:46 AM (GMT)
Napha stepped onto the subway not wanting to show her slow panting. She had almost missed the stupid subway, something that she was good at. She blinked her eyes a few times trying to get them use to the dim lighting. She pushed her hair out of her face letting out a quick breath to push the few that fell back in front of her face behind her ear again. She stepped around the few people that were on the subway. She was a little surprised to find this number of people on the subway near two.

Napha took a seat a little ways away from all the other strange people on the subway. She really didn't like to ride at this time but it was her only choice either that or walk halfway across town. She covered her mouth to keep her smirk away from the young lady with the red purse. She felt bad for her. It was people like her that would end up missing for being as careless as she was being right now. She followed the girls gaze toward a man that she wasn't sitting far from. Napha found herself bitting down on her bottom lip, usually people on the subway at this time were more interesting.

She let out a sigh as she played around with her fingers in her lap every once in a while glancing at that same man and back to the lady with the red purse and back to the man. She wasn't one for conversing with strange people but she couldn't just sit here she had a while until she would get off and would rather talk, "Ok, here goes nothing." She said to herself and she looked toward the man again opening her mouth to speak but then shuting it finding that no words had come out. How do you start a conversation with a complete strange. She thought to herself finally just speaking what popped up into her head, "So why are you on the subway so late?" She rolled her eyes at herself for asking such a strange question but hey it was what she had to work with.

Robert Thompson - December 7, 2004 08:33 AM (GMT)
Blood, blood! Robert felt incrediblely uncomfortable from his hunger, feeling as if he would break into a cold sweat at any moment. Just one more stop he repeated in his head as his tongue ran over his fangs.

The vampires gaze had been loosely following a pattern along the tram, occasionally, contemplatively he would fix his attentions onto a mortal on the train. The two thugs in the corner, another docks worker. His hands were clenched into tight fists now, it was a fairly cold night, and though it didn’t bother him greatly, it seemed like all the mortals were at least passively noticing the cold.

A small group of people had stepped onto the train, their combined weight combined with general hustle and bustle seemed to have affected the lighting somehow, as it was now dimmer than ever. Sighing somewhat, he leaned back in his hard, filthy plastic seat and closed his eyes, trying to suppress his hunger for just a few hours

Robert opened his eyes quickly, assuming that the question was directed to him. He glanced towards the woman, forcing a friendly smile despite how tired he felt.
“I work at the docks. Patrolman.” He paused for a moment, and then quickly added on “And you?”

Napha - December 7, 2004 02:12 PM (GMT)
She looked around the train again watching more people get one and a few get off pulling her coat closer to her body again having to push her hair out of her face. Taking a quick look at the lights. Her eyes looked everyone over taking all of them in at once. She looked back toward the man, thinking really hard on his question. "Well, lets see. I am just sort of here because I am not very good at catching trains."

A Patrolman? Huh. She thought to herself just nodding her head at his words. She then continued to watch him for a few while longer noticing that he seemed like he couldn't wait for something. "Are you ok? Because you don't look it, and your not acting like it." She thought that she was being a little nosy but didn't really care. She was bored with just sitting here on whating the people get on and off.

She turned her attention back to the man looking as if she was thinking really hard for a few minutes. Finally coming up with, "Do you believe in vampires? I mean not that I think they actually exsist or anything." She quickly added, "But I guess you could call the person a friend, told me that he was a vampire. And after I think about it he really did trick me into beliving it. What do you think?" She looked at him just waiting for him to burst with laughter or move to the other side of the train.

Robert Thompson - December 7, 2004 08:13 PM (GMT)
At the mention of vampires, Robert was instantly aware of a tickling sensation in his throat, teasing him with a mixture of excitement and fear of discovery. It was essentially dancing with the concept of revealing yourself, to even lead her on for a moment. Robert had not noticed how quickly the brief moments had passed, and noticed that the woman was now waiting for an answer.

“I doubt they are real” his tone hinted at attempted cheeriness, although Robert was anything but such. It was difficult to speak without showing his fangs, but thankfully, the gloom seemed to shroud all little details like that. He was keen to change the subject, for the sake of forgetting his hunger more than discovery. “Where are you gettin’ off anyway err…what’s your name?”

It was a casual, pleasant thing to say, wasn’t it? Vampirism, whilst not being a cause to excessive angst for Robert, seemed to have created a sense of paranoia as to how he fitted in amongst ‘normal’ crowds. Next stop, concentrate on getting her to come with you at the next stop.

Napha - December 8, 2004 03:27 AM (GMT)
Napha narrowed her eyes as she waited for his reply. But she kept her gaze on him almost as if she were trying to read his mind. If he is going to laugh he better get it over with "You know." She cut herself off as she heard his reply and couldn't help but smile in relief. "Yeah I thought that he was just trying to trick me or something. But I couldn't tell if he was or not."

She shrugged as she did something deep thinking in her head. Then started to stare out into space a little. She turned her gaze back to him only then taking the time to remember that she didn't even know who this guy was. "Ah yes my name." Napha paused having to think for a second. "My name is Napha." She said finally with a smile. "Sorry I am a little I guess you could say slow."

"I would think that my stop would be in the next few stops if I am right. This is why I hate subways, all kinds of creppy people about and it is easy to get lost." She bit her thumb as she talked looking back at him after finding her gaze was drifting. "Where are you getting off? And what might your name be?"

Robert Thompson - December 8, 2004 05:36 PM (GMT)
"I’m Robert, Miss Napha” He coughed harshly, loosening his thick coat to cool down. "Should be getting’ off near Westminstral Park.” He was keeping his eyes on her, despite her occasionally glancing around. "I can’t stand subways either. Spend all night looking out for robbers only to have to share a train with ‘em on the way home.” The only background noise breaking the somewhat awkward silence consisted of little else but the mutterings of a stoned student and the rattle of the train along the subway. Robert was grinning crookedly at the red pursed woman standing up a few feet away, amused by her exaggerated reaction to the cold, crisp wind blowing through the compartment.

Seeing that Napha was shifting her concentration elsewhere-albeit, most likely temporarily-Robert noticed the mere handful of passengers now on board Aside from miss red-purse and the drug-addict there were a young couple and a hobo who appeared, for one fleeting moment to have flashed two fangs at him. Options for feeding were limited, and the safest option would be to depart the train with Napha, hopefully being able to drink a little of her warm, nourishing blood and returning home before dawn. In any case he would be pressed for time, not being able to afford skipping a meal nor being outside in daylight.

At this point he could see just see out of a side window that they were apporaching a station, he would have to make a move soon.

Ooc: Feel free to object if you really don't want Rob to snack on Napha. Whilst he wouldn't try to sire or kill her, I guess snacking on a passer by wouldn't hurt too much.

Napha - December 9, 2004 02:47 AM (GMT)
“Well I guess that it is safe to say, nice to meet you Robert.” Holding out her hand to be shaken. “Westminstral Park, eh. I really like that park. It isn’t great but it is quiet there.” She smiled as she talked thinking of the park. “I am glad that you agree with me. But you can meet some interesting people along the way also.” Napha shifted her weight as she leaned to look out the window pushing her hair out of her face again, letting out an annoyed sigh. “I guess that Westminstral Park is close enough to home. That is if you wouldn’t mind me nagging you with conversation along the way until we have to part. Well even if you don’t want me to stalk you, I think it would be better if I got off” she paused for a few seconds. “You aren’t some crazy murder are you?” She questioned as a little joke knowing that such a question wouldn’t have been answered truthfully if he was.
She coughed a little and looked around again browsing the people that she hadn’t spotted yet. Napha took in a big breath, letting it out seconds later, blinking her eyes a few more times. “I hate these dim lights. They are murder on the eyes.” She looked out the window once again, smiling as she saw the station. She pushed herself up from the seat seeming a little eager to get off. They weren’t even at the station yet and she was already making her way toward the exit. She looked back at Robert. “Well I are coming? Or you can stay there. Either way if fine with me.” She placed her hands deep in her pockets and leaned back and forth from heel to toe waiting for the subway to stop and the doors to open.

OOC: Eh, s'ok it wouldn't hurt

Robert Thompson - December 9, 2004 07:59 PM (GMT)
“I’ll come“ Robert stood up, and walked to Napha’s side. He smiled somewhat awkwardly at her, perplexed at the passing comments she made “And don’t worry, I’ve never killed a fly.” Robert made the last comment with a amused tone of irony in his voice; his vampirism aside, the fact that he had served in world war 2-and indeed, killed many people even before being turned-was not something he brought into everyday conversation. He let several moments pass as they pulled up the station. A small crowd was preparing to board the train, and a similar number had gathered near Robert and Napha to leave. “Where do you work, anyway? I don’t suppose you’re a serial killer” Rob was speaking in his usual blue-collar accent.

A rhythmic ding-ding sound could be heard on the overhead speakers, shortly followed by the clatter of sliding doors. His eyes mechanically rushed towards a clock hanging from far subway wall. Still another half hour till sunrise. At least my apartment is a mere 10 minute ‘walk’ Robert stepped off the train and onto the platform, turning around and running his hand briefly over Napha’s, gesturing for her to follow him.

Napha - December 10, 2004 04:08 AM (GMT)
Napha held her head high as he told her that he was coming. She couldn’t help but try not to laugh, “Wouldn’t hurt a fly? Well now I know that, that isn’t true. You know the people who say they wouldn’t hurt a fly, are the ones who will sometime in their life either acutally kill a fly or something else.” She smiled as she talked. She never knew that talking with random strangers could be so entertaining. She had done it many times before but this town was unusually friendly. Napha looked around at the people gathering to leave aswell. “Where do I work?” She paused for a few seconds, “I don’t. My mom doesn’t want me to, deciding to move out was enough to give her a hard attack. She thinks it dangerous to be out and around town. It think she is having some problems about social lives. She doesn’t trust people around town.” She smirked a little as she talked.

“Oh, yes. Yes I have killed loads of people, it is part of my daily routine, in fact.”Napha lifted up her coat sleeve looking down at the small digital numbers rolling her eyes. She hadn’t noticed how late it was. “You know I didn’t know how late it really was.” she mentioned as she watched him step off the train, following him as he gestured. “How far do you live from here?”

Robert Thompson - December 11, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
The crowds were bumping past Robert as he led Napha rather hastily down the station, the chaotic surroundings being difficult to navigate with drowsiness adding to his ever increasing hunger. Getting past the majority of the people he turned around to speak to Napha again “Hey, I said a FLY. I’ve no qualms about hurting random strangers.” He grinned widely, and was speaking in a good-natured manner. For a brief moment he showed his fangs to her, accidentally but not without a brief feeling of excitement. His lips quickly pressed together again, and he stuttered slightly as he tried to move on the subject. “Not far from the park-in one of the overlooking apartments actually.” Rob looked towards the stairs leading to the street above, tilting his head slightly as well so Napha would notice, “Its cheap to live there since because of the occasional mugging or two around the area. It’s no big deal though, just as long as you don’t go flashing your wallet around or nothing.”
The dozens of vampire that hang around the park may have something to do with it.

”We should probably better get out of the subway”, Through the park or not. The park would be more secluded, but another vampire may end up draining the rest of her afterwards. “Hope you don’t mind if we don’t walk through the park, like you said it’s pretty late and you will probably need to get home soon.”

Napha - December 13, 2004 01:43 PM (GMT)
Napha tried to keep up her pace being slowed by the crowds of people that surrounded them. She really didn’t know what the rush was. “Why are you walking so fast?” She questioned with the feeling that she wouldn’t be able to walk like that much longer. She Watched a few people that they bumped by muttering compliants under her breath. She put on a smile when he grinned. Letting it quickly fade not wanting to keep on moving so fast. Napha quickly stopped on the spot when she thought she saw fangs when he smiled. She shook her head not believing what she thought she saw but all the same was curious about it.

She folded her arms when she stopped still taking the time to look at the near street. She nodded as he talked about where he lived, not really caring for it right now. She tilted her head a little and folded her arms, still frowning. “Smile for me.” She had a slightly serious tone in her voice. “I won’t go any further until you smile, again.” Of course she knew that she had to keep on going because of the fact that if she stopped she wouldn't get home. She just thought it a good threat.

Robert Thompson - December 16, 2004 12:00 PM (GMT)
Robert blinked as he heard her, turning slightly to avoid directly looking at her. “I didn’t realize I was. Guess I’m just really tired.” He seemed to ignore answering her question, but did smile, though without bearing his teeth. “Are you gonna’ smile as well, then?” he tried to move the topic onto her now, worried at her growing awareness of his vampirism. Rob shifted his weight slightly, feeling even tenser and panicky than before. The Amman will hardly be pleased if she finds out. Never mind if I let her live.

Robert rubbed his right arm, stepping a few feet closer to her. “Listen, what is wrong with you?” he sounded frustrated, and what’s more looked it. “If you think I’m a creep then just go. I’m not trying nothing.” It would probably be the safest decision, even if it meant the work was for nothing. A hobo would probably be lying on a bench in the park or something. Maybe some blood from butcher would suffice, if he could break into one. However he found a meal, it would have to be soon. The sun could almost be seen through the clouds; perhaps not yet fatal, but soon enough it would be.

OOC: Poor ol' Robert. I think Napha is going to get him in trouble with the vamps who would prefer to stay secret.

Napha - December 17, 2004 02:57 PM (GMT)
Napha twisted her lips as she listened to his talk. She was pleased when he smiled not showing any little fangs like she had thought. She had thought that she was just seeing things in her head because of the fact that it was so late, and now she thought she was lightheaded because they were moving so fast. Napha couldn’t help but frown when he asked his next question. She could tell that his temper was growing short. She bit her bottom lip thinking about how to fix what had just happened here. “Well you can’t blame me for being a little worried. I mean I don’t even know who you are! And I didn’t think that you were trying anything, I was just seeing things. That was all it was.”

She held her head high smiling, “Now if you don’t mind could we please get moving? It is almost sunrise and I am still not home.” She tilted her head as she looked up toward the sky. “Now come on.” She grabbed his wrist pulling him so they could get going. “Ya, know I am sorry. For making you smile and getting you ,um, angry or frustrated. Which every it was.” She laughed lowly at herself, “I think that I am going crazy.” She joked. “New York was a much less crazy place to live.”
