Title: Softly Walking

Nafretiri - November 13, 2004 08:16 PM (GMT)

The hard, cold downtown weighed heavily upon Nafretiri's mind. Her steps were barely audible, as she trecked underneath the blinding orange lights that she'd come to despise over the last few weeks. Long had passed since she'd abandoned her cloak, believing it to shroud her mind as to the fact that she could no longer be that wise, ancient being in this day and age. There was no room for such a being. Instead, she wore a long, dark jacket with the hood disguising her lack of reflection in the stores that she passed.

Not that long ago, she'd had an epiphany. Returning to the place where the Gods had created her so long ago, she'd found inner peace, and found that she was needed; her wisdom and compassion was needed. That peace had been false, and had fled her when the first of her mortal charge's blood had dripped onto the awaiting earth. Now she was but an empty shell, destined to walk the world without purpose until it shriveled up and died under human's influence. A sad day that would be, but Nafretiri did not think she would have any more crimson tears to be shed.

She sighed, letting the uneeded air wash through her shriveled organs. Placing a hand over her heart, she remembered how in her time, it was thought to be the organ that produced though, affection, and life. At this time, Nafretiri found that she believed that again, despite the fact that human technology disproved this. Head high, she dropped her hand and continued walking, perhaps just to keep her mind occupied, or perhaps to find a purpose.

[hope its ok for me to post]

Nevinino was walking down the cold streets of downtown as he smoked on his cigarette. Taking a drag onto it he tossed it into the ground and stepped onto it putting it out. "gotta stop smoking" he said to himself as he took his hood and covered his head. It would've been a nasty shock for the mortals since they couldnt see his reflection on the store windows. He had just arrived into Demaitre a few days ago and was liking it well. The place he left behind was California in the USA. The reason for his leaving of Cali was because someone had told many others that he was a vampire. His best friend told everyone, Nev killed him once he found out his best friend had done it. Not many people were around, it didnt surprise him since it was about 2 am in the morning. With his hands in his pockets he continued to walk around. He could hear someone walking in front of him. The person walked past him. His eyes widened, he had just sensed another vampire. Turning around quickly he saw the person that had walked by him. It was a female for sure. The clothes gave off the hint. Could she really be one? Of course I sensed her he said to himself. Pondering the idea of maybe going up to her and making sure.

He just stood there and watched the girl walk away.

Nafretiri - November 16, 2004 11:34 PM (GMT)

Nafretiri hugged herself, caught in the slum of depression caused by things she could not control. How much colder the air seemed when there was no purpose brought upon the silent gusts of air. Her eyes were downcast, and a small breeze fluttered the hair around her face, making it dance. Long nails gripped her arms, looking painful to anyone who just happened to pass along. She walked passed someone, barely noticing them save for the telltale signal at the back of her head that she'd become accustomed to in this forsaken city of Demaitre.

It took only moments for her to feel the gaze of another of her race upon her, and seconds more to decide to stop and see who this person may be. Perhaps they might have a purpose. There was the drum of thunder as she turned around, like the skies had chosen to announce her decision to the world. The wind picked up, sending her raven hair flying, covering her face in the shadow of them, but never succeeding in masking oh so dark eyes. Like an animal, she simply stood and waited for something to happen.

[x] - November 16, 2004 11:50 PM (GMT)
The wind began to howl. His hoodie flew off his head an onto his shoulders. The wind made his long black and brown hair blow in the wind. As he stood there watching her, she seemed to stop, as if she felt it too. Standing there he thought if he should go and see if she was one too. After a few moments curiousity got the better of him and he slowly walked up behind the girl. He reached out his hand and tapped her lightly on the shoulder. It was very arkward for him to be going up to a stranger and asking them this. " umm...sorry to be bothering you but I was wondering if you felt it too" he asked her. He stood there waiting for what she would say.

Nafretiri - November 17, 2004 12:07 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri paused a moment after feeling his tap on her shoulder to turn around. She didn't mean to be mysterious, but after living for close to three and a half thousand years, it came naturally to her. Her dark eyes stared at him, like he wasn't even there, and yet she somehow saw him. For her age, she looked infinitely young, and many mortal men had pinned away for her after they'd caught a glimpse of her in her glory. Nevertheless, the Egyptian always downplayed this. Still, even in her darkened state, she managed to portray both innocence, and wisdom beyond any of the living.

This man was young by her standards, not even having reached a full century of life. Subconsiously, she hid most of her power so as not to overwhelm him. It had happened, and not intentionally. Her mind naturally blocked it out now.

"Felt?" she inquired, raising an eyebrow. "I felt the wind in my face, the ground beneath my feet, the swish of my coat as I walked. You must learn to be more specific." He earned a small, almost invisible smile. "However, if you were refering to the fact that I both sensed you were of the race as you most undoubtably sensed me, then yes. I felt what you felt as well."

[x] - November 17, 2004 12:43 AM (GMT)
He slightly smiled at her humour. He chuckled lightly too. He wasnt surprised at her answer at all. She looked very young around her late teens or early twenties. But the power and feeling he got from her was from a very old soul, a wise one. Nodding his head as she spoke he smiled, she was a vampire too. It didnt shock him much since he did sense her. " It's a pleasure to met you, names Nevinino. Nev for short" he said taking his hood and covering his head once more. It was great to be meeting another vampire, he had met very few in Vietnam. " your name?" he asked curiously. The wind was subsiding quickly but the moon was out and shining bright. Combing his fingers through his hair he looked up into the dark sky. All of the stars seem to shine bright here back where he came from very few shone this bright.

Nafretiri - November 17, 2004 01:00 AM (GMT)

True to politese, Nafretiri bowed her head in greeting, sending her wave of dark hair showering over her face. "It is nice to meet your acquaintance, Nevinino." She straightened, one hand coming up to brush the hair out of her face and tuck it behind her ear. "I am called Nafretiri." Never did she say 'My name is' because she had long since forgotten her true name, either adult or child. Instead, her sire had given her a name chosen by himself for her 'rebirth'. Nafretiri meant 'beatiful creation' in the old language, a name that he had found suitable for her, even if she wasn't for him.

Following his gaze, she too looked at the stars. "Nut has many tears tonight," she remarked idly, remembering her religion. Nut, the sky, was in love with Geb, the earth, but the king of gods, Sun God Ra, had married her, and she could now only sneak to be with her lover. "But none shine so bright in the city."

[x] - November 17, 2004 01:15 AM (GMT)
Nevinino bowed too as he saw Nafretiri bow to him. Only the very old and wise bowed, she must be very old not many vampires bow to each other anymore. " Beautiful name you have " he said smiling slightly as he continued to look up into the sky. Nev's name meant " last son " in Vietnamese. He was named Nev by his mother when he was born. But his name is quite meaningless because his father had another 3 kids and all of them were boys. Hearing her remark he tilted his head down in her direction. "Umm...I see you have knowledge of the Ancient Egyptian Gods" he said. The Ancient Egyptians always interested him. He had studied a great deal on them while he was back in Vietnam.

Nafretiri - November 17, 2004 01:57 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri gazed at him out of the corner of her eye. He was still staring at the sky, and she found herself studying him. Quite unintentionally, she picked up an image of his family - his mother in particular. She gave a small smile. "She is quite beautiful... You're mother." She shook her head. "I apologize. That was not for me to see." Her eyes were now downcast once again. Such was the power of her inner mind that she often strayed upon knowledge that was not hers to behold. Both a gift and a curse, it was.

Hearing her comment, she looked up, a rather warm smile on her face, and for the first time that night, her eyes shining. "You know of them?" she inquired, her voice full of curiosity. "Yes, I know of the Egyptian Gods." A small laugh came from her. "They are my gods, as I am their servant. Hathor, in particular. I am her last remaining priestess from the old times."

[x] - November 17, 2004 02:12 AM (GMT)
Nevinino took his eyes off the sky and onto Nafretiri. He was quite surprised that she had said that his mother was quite beautiful. He smiled brightly, " No, don't apologize. Yes she was very beautiful, had remarkably beautiful features" he said lightly trying to remember his mother's face. The last time he saw both of his parents was when he was at the age of eight. Remebering those times when his whole family was together. Now all of them were scattered throughout the world. He was actually searching for his sisters, they would be very old but he needed to see them. As he heard her remark, Nevinino turned to look at her smiling face. Her eyes were shining.Beautiful he said to himself.

" Ahh...I see. Its quite an honor to be in the presence of you Nafretiri. You are very wise and very powerful " he said kneeling and bowing to her.

Nafretiri - November 17, 2004 02:30 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri nodded her head absently. Her own parents were but a mystery to her. Not even a faint recollection of them remained. From what she could remember, her first few years were spent as a street child, hair full of lice, and dirty from the dusty streets. Even then she had a mild form of telepathy. It was what caught the Pharaoh Seti's eye. He found her while on one of his excursions through Thebes, and sent her to the Temple of Hathor. The rest was history, save the part where she fell in love with a man she thought was a noble.

The memories disolved like a wisp of smoke, going back inside the vault that was her mind. Looking down, she saw Nevinino bowing to her. Crouching down, she took his arm and pulled him up. "You need not do that. I thank you for your words, but I am merely an old being without point or purpose in this new world."

[x] - November 17, 2004 03:24 PM (GMT)
Nevinino straightened himself up, " There's no need to thank me" he said smiling. Thinking about it Nafretiri was well over three thousand years old. She had a history a very long one at that. He was only sixty-four years of age, considered a young vampire. Many were often times surprised at his skill and wisdom. He liked to shock them. "...but I am merely an old being without point or purpose in this new world." he heard her say. In his mind, Nafretiri had a big purpose. She had been through many experiences and has lived so long. To him she had a point in this world. " No, don't say that. To me you have a big purpose in this world. You seem like very wise and powerful vampiress" he said smiling. He knew that feeling of not having a purpose in the world. He was getting older and older but he would never die. He was immortal. Sometimes vampires wished that they died instead of living forever. But they couldnt change it. They just had to go on with it.

Nafretiri - November 19, 2004 01:10 AM (GMT)

Her eyes widened. So wise this one seemed, even in youth. However, he did not carry the burdens of three hundred lifetimes with him. He did not know the everlasting weight that was placed on her shoulders for her to bear with night after endless night. He did not have the blood of countless innocents on his hands; nay, not just his hands, but his entire being. He had seen progress, but not as she had. He did not see the world through the same eyes she did. To try and explain this was to try and explain philosophy to an infant. T'was impossible, for now at least. In another half a millenia, he may be able to understand.

She gave him a soft smile. "The wise such as I have grown obselete. People turn to their leaders now, refering not to ones of old age, for what secrets could they possibly have to tell from a time when things were not as they are now." She gave a small sigh. "I am powerful, yes, but what reason is there behind it, save to continue on throughout the ages? I have no one, not any longer. They have perish in the shifting sands of time, lost forever to the ages of history. I have no place here." Her gaze turned to the stars. "I have often contemplating seeing Amun-Ra one last time, before fading into oblivions, but I daresay that that would be too cowardly, and I would not be able to be prepared in the customs of the old world." There was a pause. "Though I do not know if I wish to pass into the next life. I have already lived for so long, oh so long."

[x] - November 19, 2004 01:53 AM (GMT)
He nodded as she spoke. He could understand what she was saying. Many vampires hated being immortal. Most of them wished to die but couldnt ever. There was only one thing that Nevinino disagreed about. Nafretiri was wrong about how all of the people turn to their leaders. He was a loner, but he looked up to Nafretiri. She was a very wise, powerful, intelligent vampiress. " Many things have changed since the past, but you have many things you could still contribute to this new world. Many of us including me would look up to you for your wisdom" he said looking up into the stars. " I dont know what to say, another life brings new experiences. Even though you've been through so much, there's always more stuff to go through. I know that I'm very young and haven't been through as much as you but if your needing to have a talk with anyone I'm always here" he said smiling.

" Would you want to walk around and talk?" he asked her.

Nafretiri - November 23, 2004 12:30 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri gave a small chuckle. "I thank you for your words, young one. Though I doubt that I have that many more new experiences to go through - apart from turning a mortal - it is sound advice." She'd often wondered about turning someone, but had never found the perfect one. Often times, she heard the more elder of the vampires talking about someone that you just connect with. The one person she had almost turned had been nothing of the sort with her. They had been as different as night and day, and she had known little to nothing about him, except that she'd had the power to save his life.

She nodded her head. "I would enjoy walking with you. We shall see if I have anything to contribute. You may ask any question you like."

[x] - November 23, 2004 12:46 AM (GMT)
Nevinino was surprised at her remark. She lived so long yet she has never turned a mortal. He had only turned a few mortals so far. Out of rage and frustration he had turned a mortal man just a few days ago. He didnt know how or where the man was either. One day he would come across the man again. The only reason why he turned mortals was because they still had the chance to live as a human, to live freely. He had that chance taken away from him by a vampire in Vietnam when he was young. Slowly he started to walk again, he had many things in mind that he wanted to ask her. When he was very little he had been very interested in the Ancient Egyptians, their way of life, their beliefs, their everything. "What was it like living back then in Egypt?" he asked curiously.

Fortitudo Dei - November 25, 2004 12:28 AM (GMT)
Fortitudo was jumping from roof top to roof top looking for Nafretiri. Fortitudo had been tracking Nafretiri the leader of the Tarepha both beautiful and wise. He had never meet even though he had lived in Demaitre for four years. He liked the artificial boost that jumping gave to the breeze it blew his long black hair back out of his face.

Finally he felt that strange feeling of that a Vampire gave another Vampire when they where near each other, but this feeling was more powerful that normal. Fortitudo thought to himself maybe it was her because he was told by Richard that she was a very powerful Vampire, but this was still very strong for that maybe she was with someone.

When he finally thought that he was close enough to her to focus more of his attention at the street than jumping me stopped jumping and peered over the edge thinking he could see her in the night's darkness. Looking around he finally guessed that the two very pale people were her and who every she was with he stared at them hoping to figure out if they where two Vampires. He proceeded to sit on the ledge on watch them intently.

Nafretiri - November 25, 2004 01:02 AM (GMT)

A feeling of nostaligia washed over Nafretiri as she thought of her home long ago. Her eyes shifted out of focus, and one could only assume that she was really seeing the then-new wonders of Egypt, perfect and complete. She could almost feel the heat of the sun, something she had not seen in three millenia, on her face; smell the incense burning, taste the warm hippopatamus meat. A calm came over her, and she smiled at the man next to her. "It was... smelly," she said, with a little laugh. "But it was also beautiful. More beautiful than you can imagine. The inscriptions on the temple were always painted bright colors like you can't imagine. The linen we wore was cool, and the waters of the Nile were cool to the touch. Of course, one always had to be careful of the predators."

A new presence caused her to snap out of her reverie. Her eyes flickered around, but not to the extent of her mind. "We seem to have company," she remarked, turning around with an eyebrow raised. May we help you? She asked mentally. Or are you content to stare at the unknowing?

Fortitudo Dei - November 25, 2004 01:18 AM (GMT)
Fortitudo was just sitting there on there on the ledge looking at the potential Vampires when a voice was in his head "May we help you? Or are you content to stare at the unknowing?" Fortitudo looks around for who could have said that, but after thirty seconds he realized it was in his head, but that either he is going crazy or there are Vampires here. Preferring the latter over the former he when back to look at the potential Vampires. Then he realized that they are Vampires do to the fact that the smaller one seemed to notice his presence. So he took a gamble he got up and walked over to the part of the building that looked over the alley and jumped over the ledge, climbed down the wall and started to walk over to the two potential Vampires.

As he walked to them he felt the presence of a powerful being grow over him. When he was almost next to them he began to fell very nervus about this crazy plan maybe he should just leave. Then he saw he beautiful face and Knew it was Nafretiri. He said to her "are you Nafretiri the leader of the Tarepha coven" he said in a very respectful voice.

[x] - November 25, 2004 01:21 AM (GMT)
He chuckled at her joke. The way she described it, was wonderful. He could only imagine what it must've been like. The greatest civilization in history he thought to himself. The ancient pryamids were now colorless and chipped. Back then, they would've been colorful and even more beautiful. She had the most knowledge of these times, she was there. He suddenly looked up at Nafretiri. " whose there?" he asked her curiously turning around to the direction she was looking at. He could sense them but Nafretiri being more powerful could easily sense them quicker than he could. Then a male vampire came in their direction. He had asked if Nafretiri if she was the leader of the Tarepha coven. He must have been mistaken since Nyx was the leader of Tarepha.

Nafretiri - November 25, 2004 01:36 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri was glad that Nevinino enjoyed her stories. She could see him trying to picture it, but it was much harder than some people thought. She could see the pictures clearly in her head, and it was almost impossible to describe them perfectly to people. They could not imagine the awe that such a building could create. They could try, and they failed. She sensed the power of another vampire behind her, and turned slowly, seeing a man approach. When he asked her the question, her eyebrows shot up, and she managed an incredulous chuckle? "I? Nafretiri of the Tarepha? I believe you are mistaken. I am no Tarepha member, and most certainly not its leader, nor have I ever been, or ever shall be."

Fortitudo Dei - November 25, 2004 01:50 AM (GMT)
"I am sorry I must have been mistaking about your identity." He said feeling sad that he would still have to look for the mystery leader of the Tarepha. How could Richand be wrong he could not be wrong. So he asked the female Vampire "Do you know who is and where I can find her? Also, you two are Vampires right because you know about the Tarepha?" Now he hoped that these Vampires would not attack him for asking about the Tarepha because they must know he is a member, and the other covens did not like the Tarepha. He was at their mercy now because he knew that the female is very powerful and the male is well he is just another person he might have to fight. So he moved his hand out of his pocket incase he has to fight.

[x] - November 25, 2004 02:37 AM (GMT)
He slightly laughed at the male vampire. It was quite funny to him that he had mistakened Nafretiri for being the leader of Tarepha. He disliked the Tarepha. He had many problems with some members of the Tarepha. But he didnt hate all the members, very few of them were his close friends. " Yes, we know about the Tarepha coven" he said clearly scanning the male vampire over. He looked cautious, as if he expected them to jump onto him and beat the living day lights out of him. He stood back a few inches to allow the man and Nafretiri to talk freely.

Fortitudo Dei - November 25, 2004 02:53 AM (GMT)
"Ok then if know about the Tarepha can you tell me where to find Nyx?" He said as he put his hand back into his pocket relaxing because the male Vampire backed of. So he guessed that they did not want to fight. "How rude of me my name is Fortituo Dei." He said as he bowed to them as he was taught to do by his father over 450 years ago.

Nafretiri - November 25, 2004 03:08 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri crossed her arms and gave a small glare at the man. She didn't trust him, and she certainly did not trust the Tarepha leader, Nyx. The woman was a walking menace to both the mortal and the vampiric world, and Nafretiri felt that she should be killed swiftly. Unfortunately, that would leave her coven leaderless, and the members would start killing each other for the spot. That was the only thing that kept her from going over there and taking care of the vile woman on her own. The Egyptian woman still had not forgiven the redhaired woman for stabbing her, and it was unlikely that she ever would, seeing as Nyx never seemed sorry. Her hands twitched, and she almost drew her own blood.

"Why do you seek out Nyx?" she asked, a little sharper than she'd intendend. "What business have you with her? Do you wish to join her coven, is that it? I'll let you know that she is a sadist who does not care for the feelings of others. If you approach her, you will never be free of her again. She will get everything she can from you, without ever giving anything back. Does this frighten you?"

Fortitudo Dei - November 25, 2004 03:22 AM (GMT)
"I fear nothing. I seek her out because by mentor and turner Richard was killed and I came here to join her coven becuase I am Tarepha. Now are you going to tell me where to find her or not?" He said this as he began to get annoyed at this Nafretiri person. Who is she and why is she being extremly irritating he thought to himself, and why did she jump at the mentioning of Nyx? Did she get into a fight with her or something. I guess I'll just have to find out about that one from Nyx when I meet because Nafretiri seems like she would not want to talk about it.

Nafretiri - November 26, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri's frown deepened, and her glare was one of a person who had just had a nerve hit. Ever since her little run in with Gabriel, her normally composed manner had been somewhat troubled. No more did she stay calm in the face of such arrogance. No longer did she let people talk to her as if she were some random vampire. She was three thousand years old, much older than the being before her, and she had powers that he couldn't even dream of. Her eyes darkened, not just the irises, but the entire eye, so that they were deep obsidian.

"I do not like the tone you are using with me," she said, and although her voice was the same calm, composed voice she usually used, there was an underlying threat just below the surface. "If you want to find Nyx, do it yourself. I am not you servant."

[x] - November 26, 2004 02:23 AM (GMT)
Nevinino was quite shocked by Fortitudo's rudeness. He was obviously an immature vampire. He could sense Nafretiri getting very angry with Fortitudo but, as she spoke her voice was calm and collected. Nevinino couldnt blame Nafretiri for getting angry with Fortitudo, he had mentioned Nyx and no one would ever want to be mistakened for her. Many people dislike the Tarapha and its leader. The Tarepha were ruthless and sadistic. He tried his best to stay away from them since he hated them so much. "If you want to find Nyx, do it yourself. I am not you servant." he heard Nafretiri say. He thought it best to just tell Fortitudo to go before things get out of hand. He took a step forward, " I suggest you leave at once, I am not sure where Nyx is but if you go to the subways you will surely meet a member of the Tarepha there. Maybe they can help you find her" he said to Fortitudo.

Fortitudo Dei - November 28, 2004 02:48 AM (GMT)
"Thank you" Fortitudo said feeling a little better that he fight find her now he has a new lead. "Finally one of you two is a little bit helpful. Well I guess I am off to the subways" he says as he starts walking off towards the subway entrance. To bad I would have had fun killing them. They would have been more of a challenge than the Renaissance knights he used to fight as training. As he enters the entrance to the subway he draws his sword it's scabbard knowing he might have to fight some Vampires to get to Nyx being that she is the leader of the Tarepha and that random Vampires can't just walk up to her and try to join the Tarepha.
