Title: Hunting.
Description: The thrill of the hunt.

Gabriel - November 12, 2004 03:49 AM (GMT)
The busy sounds of cars on streets passed through the tall buildings of the city. Screeching tires and engines could be heard everywhere. It was impossible to go anywhere and get away from the noise of the city. Whether it was babies crying, people shouting, cars driving, or the regular break ins which happened downtown; this city was always doing something.

The regular steps which went against the rooftop of the building seemed to build upon the sound of the city. Every step driving deeper into the mind of the walker. He could hear every single sound which took place around him. The mild chatting below, the dogs barking in the backround, the car tires screeching on the road. All combining to make an agonizing noise which began to drive him into an eternal madness surrounded his soul in confusion and disorder. With every moment his mind seemed to plunge deeper into chaos. Finally it all stopped.

He looked down at the girl who he had been following that entire night. Her cherry red hair complimenting her face and her eyes. Her smooth form walking back and forth. Sure it wasn't Jasmine or emerald or whatever name she was going by now, but it looked so much like her. He couldn't stand to be alone anymore. He wasn't even sure if he would be able to last the next day without someone knowing who he was. This girl seemed as good as any.

He walked further down following her closly. His eyes on her so tightly that he wouldn't notice if someone was standing infront of him. He was doing this for the sole reason that it blocked out the noise. That ear shattering, mind blowing noise which surrounded this city was gone for a few seconds. That was all he could ask for. He was truly thrilled that he had a moment of peace, just to think about what he would say to this mortal. ~How do you tell someone that your a vampire? I mean do you just walk up and say hi my name is Mitchifer and I drink peoples blood. What's your name? How stupid did that sound. I mean just thinking about this is making me nervous. What will the amman do if they find out?~ He paused....what would they do to him if they did find out about his little plan?

He knew how afraid his brother was of the Amman. He himself had never had any problems with that coven. They always seemed to leave him be as he didn't stand out much. He had always followed the rules he had been given and now he was about to break two of them....was this really the right thing to do? He looked down at the girl as she continued to walk slowly down the sidewalk of the city. "What to do, what to do..."

Vanessa - November 13, 2004 05:39 PM (GMT)
Hannah was back in town, allowed to come home after being forced into 'exile' in New Orleans. She had been stuck in a room of Bo's mansion ever since she returned, and was only just allowed to leave to return to her own apartment. She was taking her time, walking the long route in the hopes something would happen to place even a small amount of something different in the monotony of the limbo she had been living in for months now.

The tall, raven-haired woman turned another corner, her random twists carrying her further and further away from her destination. She was glad she had worn a long tweed coat, but as she stuffed her hands into her pockets, she wished she had taken gloves, too. Her bright red scarf, the only touch of color that was about her, blew in the breeze and annoyed her. Her skin was like porcelain, just as pale and just as fragile.

Hannah had been ignoring the mortals she passed, avoiding eye contact in order to preserve herself. But as her eyes were mostly downcast, she succeeded in running straight into the girl that Mitchifer was observing. Both women let out a surprised gasp, and Hannah's mind sent out a shrill call, one single word, Help! She stepped back from the mortal and tried to smile, attempted to apologize for not looking where she was going.

OOC| Sorry it took so long.. I got called into work earlier that I was supposed to go so I couldn't reply yesterday evening, and I slept in until one both today and yesterday.. I'm such a lazy ass.. Anyway, hope you don't mind me making use of your NPC like that. I haven’t used Hannah-baby in a long time.. Don’t get scared if she starts acting crazy, she’s unstable. |

Gabriel - November 13, 2004 06:59 PM (GMT)
He rubbed his head in pain. "So much for quiet." He cast his gaze on the woman who had run into his target. ~ A vampire? Calling for help? You've got to be kidding me. That girl couldn't even touch a vampire much less cause harm to one.~ He glanced around until he found a alley next to his current roof. He took a deep breath and jumped from the four story apartment complex. With a rather loud thud he slammed into the ground. He felt a stabbing pain rush through his legs from the shock but it quickly vanished.

~I just hope they didn't here the thud.~ He started to stand as he as landed nearly on his knees. He could see his target rubbing her head now. Her fragile body in pain. "I swear vampire if you hurt her I will personaly kill you." He knew that life was life and death was death no matter what the person was life always had to end. In the end he just didn't want to have wasted his entire night stalking a girl just to have her killed.

He wiped the dirt from his jacket and walked out of the alley only glancing at the pair. He just wanted to make sure she was alright then he could go back to stalking her. He wasn't about to tell the mortal infront of a vampire. That would basicly give the amman an invitation to come and get him. He glanced again at the pair. "Are you two ok? I thought I heard something." The truth was his head was still ringing from the loud shout for help from the vampire's mind.

(Hey it's no big. I completly understant. Things come up and you want to rest every now and then. Completly understandable. Thanks for replying.)

Vanessa - November 13, 2004 08:04 PM (GMT)
I swear vampire if you hurt her I will personally kill you. The words vibrated in Hannah’s skull. She was not aware of another vampire’s presence. She was so used to being followed by either Boethius or Lily that she no longer felt for any of her vampiric kin. It was the shock of another so near which startled her, but it was the violence of the words which made her wince.

The two women looked over at this newcomer, the stalked still rubbing her head, the vampire growing frightened. “Yes.. I wasn’t watching where I was goin’ and ran full into her. I’m sorry, again.” Hannah managed to say, her words tumbling out wrapped in her sweet Southern accent.

She almost trembled in her boots as the man walked closer. She wished she had followed the orders given to her and had gone straight home. Barring that, she wished that someone had come with her. Anything so that she wouldn’t have been standing right here in this moment alone.

Gabriel - November 13, 2004 09:07 PM (GMT)
"Ok I'm just making sure there wasn't and serious damage." He nodded. His target seemed fine other then a little shock. He nodded to himself then looked at the vampire. ~What are you doing her and in the middle of night. Shouting help when you bump into a mortal girl? What's wrong with you!~ This vampire was acting like a newborn. I mean here she was tons stronger then any mortal and she was acting like it was dangerous.

He rubbed his head. Then suddenly he noticed how much of a panic she was in. ~Are you afraid of me or something? You can't be serious. How could anyone be afraid of me?~ He nearly started to laugh. This was too funny. Some vampire actually thought Mitchifer was dangerous. This must be how Gabriel feels when he is around fledgelings. He smiled completly forgetting his original target. This girl was far more entertaining.

He shifted his weight carfully. Though she did have a feel about her which made him slightly nervous. Maybe not of him but perhaps of someone or something else? He looked around. He had to be certain that he wasn't in any danger. Nor his original target. He would let her live the night atleast. For leading him to a more entertaining subject she deserved that much.

Vanessa - November 13, 2004 09:18 PM (GMT)
“No, nothing serious.” Hannah replied. “Excuse me.” She said, smiling quickly at the girl and skittering around the two in front of her. She continued walking, kept herself from running.

Perhaps if the first thing you say to someone is a threat on their life, they would be less that enthuastic towards you.. That doesn’t exactly instill a welcoming feeling! And I am not afraid. Of you.

Hannah spoke inside Mitchifer’s mind, replying to what seemed to her like bait. She only wanted to get away, but had a terrible feeling that he would follow.

Gabriel - November 13, 2004 10:47 PM (GMT)
He smiled. Turning quickly back down the alley he climbed the fire escape and got back to his roof. Then he jumped to the next roof following this new girl. She was far more interesting then the other. He waited for her to get to a turn before he jumped down landing infront on her.

"Well if your not afriad of me what are you afraid of?" He smiled at her. In his most charming smile that he could. "Sorry about before. I just didn't want to have wasted an entire night stalking someone just to have that someone killed. You understand don't you?" He looked away. "Now then back to my first question. What are you afraid of miss?"

Vanessa - November 13, 2004 11:19 PM (GMT)
Hannah jumped back when Mitchifer landed in front of her. The effect of a charming smile was lost in the fright of someone appearing before you from the sky. She stared at him for a moment, as if she did not hear him, before she answered him.

"I am afraid of myself. And what's happening to me. Of things I've done. Why do you want to know?" She snapped, taking a step or more away from him. She seemed about to flee, but stayed in her position. "You'd best leave me alone."

OOC| Short, I know.. Sorry. |

Gabriel - November 13, 2004 11:28 PM (GMT)
He looked blankly at her for a moment. "Oh I was just curious. When you said your not afraid the first time you paused so I fiqured you were thinking of what to say. I'm not that bad of a guy." He rolled his eyes leaning against the wall near him. "Why are you so timid. You act as if you've never seen a vampire before." He laughed a little.

"So why are you afraid of yourself. What have you done? I mean it can't be that bad. Everyone has done something wrong and I know people who have done alot worse then you trust me." He glanced back over at her. "Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you. I have no reason to hurt you now do I?"

Vanessa - November 14, 2004 12:40 AM (GMT)
“How do you know people who have done worse if you don’t know what I’ve done?” Hannah asked rather sensibly, although the expression she developed was hardly normal.

“I don’t really feel like spilling my entire history of dark deeds and infamy to some stranger who threatened to kill me because I accidentally walked into another stranger.” She tossed her head defiantly, her long dark curls flying over her shoulder and down her back.

“So why don’t you start?” She said temptingly. “What are you afraid of, and what have you done?” She was growing less and less skittish, and more.. dangerous.

Nafretiri - November 14, 2004 12:44 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri was walking along the streets. In her hands she held a cage with a small white dove inside. The petite animal inside looked around cautiously, making small noises when it deemed fit. The woman didn't even notice the bird and she continued through the darkened streets, bare feet on the cold, damp pavement. She wore but a small black dress, with a larger, woolen trench coat over top. The hair on her head was loose tonight, as she'd taken to wearing it, simply not having the heart to wear the elaborate wigs she was used to.

Stopping on an old stone stoop with a clear view of the hazy sky whose stars were dimmed by the orange glow of the city, she opened the cage. One hand swiftly caught the bird. Dropping the ornate cage, she brought the bird to her lips, giving it a soft kiss on its head, accutely aware of the small heart drumming beneath the fragile exterior. It a moment, she had thrown it up in the air, and the small bird had flown away, much like that Christian story of the man named Noah.

Perhaps her own dove would find a place she could call home.

She stared up at the sky for what seemed hours, until she heard the footsteps of others near to her. Narrowing her eyes in suspicion and annoyance, she backed into the darkness of the doorframe, using her ability to blend into shadow. She became darkness itself, with a thousand eyes. As the two beings drew closer, she realized that they were both vampires. It was one in particular that made her stiffen. He felt remarkably like Gabriel...

Only, Gabriel had no more family, save the one he had killed... A small gasp escaped her. Unless he hadn't died....

Gabriel - November 14, 2004 12:56 AM (GMT)
"What am I afriad of? Well I geuss I'm afriad of being unknown. I could care less about dying. Everything that lives dies sooner or later that is a simple fact of life which I have grown used too but dying and having no one moarn me. Having no one to remenber my name. That I could not stand. I hate being unknown for I know that if someone remenbers my name for any reason then I'm not truly dead. Atleast that is how I've always felt." He looked up at the sky before glancing over at her.

"Now then what have I done. I assume you mean what negative things I've done seeing how I've been alive for ages so I've done alot of things. However I geuss the largest thing I di would have to have been. Hmm that's difficult. I mean decides murder, destruction, and a little arson I havn't done much. I geuss I would have to say killing an entire family off. It was rather sad seeing how I only should up at there house to drink from some sheep but their little girl saw me so I had to kill her and then her brother, her mother, her grandmother, father, dog, uncle, and aunt. I assume it was some sort of festival in mexico at the time. Not really sure."

He glanced at the ground sighing. "How I know someone who has done worse things then you even though I don't know what you did is do to the fact that I know my brother. He is sorta misunderstood. He is bi-polar. Or I think that's the term. Over in Europe he killed many mortals and immortals in a war. He hung their bodies on crosses in churches to scare the villagers away. It was quite a chaotic time for the small villages in the area. He's just lucky he never made it to london before his sire got to him. Otherwise the amman would have been all over him."

"I think that answers all of you questions. So now it's your turn." His face hadn't changed at all during his tale. He was smiling as though it was perfectly normal. He wasn't thrilled but he wasn't at all sad or angry with the situation.

Vanessa - November 14, 2004 01:21 AM (GMT)
“No, it’s not.” Hannah replied. “Perhaps I’m not as trustin’ as you are, but I’m still not going to learn you my history just because you tell me a few bad things about yourself!”

She ran across the street, then stopped and turned to face Mitchifer again. She was as oblivious to Nafretiri’s presence as she was to Mitchifer’s. “Eventually the people rememberin’ you die, then where are you?” She challenged.

Gabriel - November 14, 2004 01:30 AM (GMT)
"If you are truly great you will survive the ages. Hitler, Alexander the Great, King George the III these are names which people still remenber to this day. I may not be them. I don't care how many people remenber me but I won't die unremenbered. If you can't come to terms with what you've done then so be it. I can. I know what I've done and I can admit it. Holding in what I've done will not bring back lives. Do what you wish. It's of no concern to me."

He turned towards the shadows. "Now then. Won't you come out? Why are you hiding in shadows spying on us. Are we truly that interesting or did you just happen across us. What does it matter anyway. I assume your not going to come out anyway. So many vampires anymore are afraid of the light. They run into shadows. Even the strongest of us all sometimes fear something even if that something is themself."

He turned away from the shadows and looked up at the sky. "I geuss no vampire understands how I feel. Perhaps I should have stayed with that mortal rather then try and talk to vampires."

Vanessa - November 14, 2004 01:41 AM (GMT)
“Fine.. Would you really like to know what I did?” Hannah’s little resistance seemed to fade as she stepped off the curb and towards Mitchifer. It was only a few steps, however, and she stopped in the middle of the street.

“I left the man who sired me and loved me most in my mortal life, because I couldn’t bear the fact that he wasn’t white. Then there was the bloody period of my life which I don’t remember because I was in the grips of a lovely little delirium. But lately, I killed the boyfriend of the man who I ended up meeting and falling in love with. And when I tried to help him stay alive, I ended up inviting death into his life, and now he’s just like us. Except he doesn’t know I killed Jake, and Lily won’t let me tell him, and Boethius won’t even let me see him, because he claims my mental state wouldn’t support it.” She shrugged here, pausing to take another breath. “So you’ll just have to forgive me if I don’t have the sand to accept what I’ve done when I’ve ruined more lives than I even know about.”

Nafretiri - November 14, 2004 01:52 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri's eyes narrowed at the man. He was most definitely not her charge, nor was he Gabriel, and yet the power that she felt so closely resembled the both of them. How could this be? Another Lanorus? The ancient was tempted to roll her eyes. They seemed to be populating the city as of late. It struck a cord with her, and her heart began to ache. Taking a deep - though unneeded - sigh, she emerged from the shadows, seeming to detach from the whole. Her dark eyes pierced the twilight of the street as she stared at him, more than the woman next to him.

"I was not spying," she objected quitely; politely. "I merely sense in you what I have felt in others... ones I have no desire to encounter again." She left it at that, not elaborating further upon who these others could be. Her mouth was a thin line, and her feet were cold upon the ground. She took a few silent steps forward. "You need not hold such pain in your hearts over deeds that have previously been done. To do so is to mean an eternity of pain." No expression graced her voice, but there was a story behind this, even if her outward demeanor showed none of it.

"Another being that has survived the ages, though dismissed as legend is that of Sekhmet," continued Nafretiri. There was no pain, nothing to indicate that she might somehow be connected to this name.

Gabriel - November 14, 2004 02:00 AM (GMT)
He looked at this new girl up and down. Before looking away. "You need to give that advice to my brother. I mean he is going to do something he'll regret for the rest of his immortal life if he keeps acting how he does now. I mean listen to this. The idoit left home, ran to Rome of all places where he was bitten and turned into a vampire. Then he goes roaming about europe killing people for no reason. I can't understand that Gabriel. He such a stupid fool. He's gone about and dishonored are entire family and now I've heard he doesn't even play!" He nearly shouted that last part.

It was rather clear that he and his brother wern't very close. They seemed exact opposites of eachother for one. Mitchifer was very rational when it came to life while Gabriel lived on his emotions. Mitchifer had stayed with the times and changed with them while Gabriel couldn't cut it and had to go to sleep. They were nothing alike and personality it seemed if you knew both of them well it would be very clear.

Vanessa - November 14, 2004 03:19 AM (GMT)
Hannah was appropriately startled when the shadows gave birth to this newcomer. She was horribly off guard these days, it would probably be the end of her. She backed up once more, made her way slowly back up onto the curb where she had been standing before. The sidewalk stretched out before her, leading the way home, but before her there were two new people with voices she hadn’t already memorized.

She stood still; listened to what the two vampires before her were saying, but she said nothing herself.

Nafretiri - November 14, 2004 03:56 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri listened to the male vampire's tirade, her eyes widening only slightly. So, this was Gabriel's brother. He sounded about as pleased as she did. "You are Gabriel's brother?" It was more a statement than a question, trying to answer what she already knew. "I met him recently. He was not at all what I thought he was. He has... something wrong with him."

Turning to the woman, she focused on the words that she caught from the other. How terribly rude she had been, ignoring her. It was really quite rude. "Fret not," she said softly, almost kindly. "Whatever you have done, there is someone who has done something infinitely worse. At least you care. That is more than ever happens for some of our race." She reflected, that Gabriel too, had cared once upon a time. Then, he'd been thrown over the deep end. Nafretiri sincerely hoped that this did not happen to this woman. She seemed to have good enough intentions.

Gabriel - November 14, 2004 04:03 AM (GMT)
"When he was human he was Bi-Polar so that could only have worsened. Plus before he became a vampire he recieved the plague so that is most likly effecting his brain aswell. By now he is most likely a nut job. Though I am glad to here he is alive. It's nice to know that I didn't come to this bloody city for no reason though I thought for sure he would be dead after dealing with all thoose vampires here. He's not what you would call social. I'm surprised he didn't attack anyone." He laughed for a second.

Turning to the other girl he motioned her over. "Oh come on. It doesn't seem like you meet other vampires often so come and chat with us. I mean what are the odds you'll meet others soon much ones who arn't planning on attacking you. You should really be more social or you'll end up like my brother...or atleast from what I've heard."

Vanessa - November 14, 2004 04:14 AM (GMT)
“It’s so much easier not to care. And thank you, but I think my problems probably stem from meeting too many vampires. So thank you, but goodnight.” Hannah turned from the two of them and began walking again, her high heels clicking out her path with each of her movements.

It didn’t matter that she was going in the opposite direction from her apartment. It didn’t matter that she was going to be scolded for not going directly home. All that mattered was that she stay away from anyone else who could potentially complicate things.

When she was a considerable distance from Mitchifer and Nafretiri, she broke into a run and her noise, both physical and mental, was swallowed by the pulse of the city.

OOC| How ironic Mitch and Naf are comparing Hannah to Gabriel, when bipolar was one of the disorders I am considering for her and, from what I hear, she’s already very similar to him. Just less.. violent. Anyway, I’m going to leave the board to you two. I’ve a feeling it would get more interesting for the two of you without me. Plus I have a few things to take care of and I don’t want the two of you to have to wait for me to post before you can again. :) |
