Title: Dead Silence

Nafretiri - November 11, 2004 12:06 AM (GMT)

Elayna trudged through the damp grass, the bottoms of her jeans getting more wet by the second, making it seem like her pants went from dark to darker. She hugged herself, loving the feeling of her 'D34D' sweater. It was a cold night, but she had to come. The urge had come again, and she always found that it was easier to do it here, among the dead, than at home among the living who just didn't seem to understand her.

The realization that she was walking over decaying corpses that had long since been entombed in cold, dark earth facinated her. She approached one tombstone. It was large, and looked like it had been made of marble. Her palid fingers ran across the aged stone, feeling the texture of the vines that had long since made the silent guardian their home. The sad smile on the angel's face made her laugh, something that echoed silently through her. Deciding this was the perfect spot, she laid down on the grass, her black hair spread out around her, and the dampness seeping through her clothing.

This feeling she was feeling right now was the best in the world. Here, she felt like she was among her own kind. The dead were the only things that truly understood her, and lying on top of a grave made her feel like she belonged among their numbers. She caressed the grass and dirt with her fingers, before deciding it was time to do what she'd come here to do.

From her belt, she pulled a small exact-o knife. Flicking up the blade, she stared at it. It seemed bright in the otherwise dark night. She pulled back one of her sleeves, revealing lines upon lines of scars. Breath heavy with anticipation, she pressed the pointed edge to her skin and watched at the red blood started to pool around it. That was enough for now. She placed it to her lips and sucked on the wound happily until the bleeding stopped. Then, she just lay on top of the corpse, feet beneath her, and was content.

Rowen - November 11, 2004 12:30 AM (GMT)
Rowen moved slowly through the rows oh headstones that lined the graves around her. Every now and then she would stop to read the names and dates, and many even the small saying on each, nothing much but the normal about loved ones. Her clothing was nothing more the black flared pants, semi-dress pants, with a navy blue button up shirt, black shoes, then to top it off a black swade jacket.

She could feel the wet in the glass seeping into her pants, but she didn’t much care, as it didn’t bother her much, being use to the cold. Starting to move once again along the rows of stone, her mind soon felt the presence of another in the silence of the graveyard. This one mortal, and at such a late hour, she wondered slightly, but didn’t think much of it at first, some people just walked through to get home.

Soon she came into view of this mortal, seeing it trace it’s fingers over a stone before seeing to smile and lay in the wet grass below. ‘how odd’ She thought to herself as she made her way closer to watch this mortal, who she soon saw to be a girl. Her bright ice blue’s fixed like glue as she watched her remove the blade from her belt, and slowly pull her sleeve back.

Looking at her still, she watched this girl cut into the skin of her own arm, along side the other scars plainly marked from past cuts. What really make her think, was what she did next, drank her own blood. A vampire want-a-be? She thought to herself and then noticed, she did this on top of a grave. Moving ever so lightly, her own body mixed in with the dark of the night unable to e seen.

“Your and odd one, to be out so late, in such a place as this, and alone.” She stated softly and looked down at her from only a few feet to the side.

Elayna lay on the grave, blissfully falling into a state of utter relaxation. The blood had both left her filled, and soothed her troubled mind. Her eyes began to close. Being deaf, she'd learned that to sense things, like people approaching. She wasn't sure where this talent had come from, but she could tell when someone was watching her, and that's what it felt like right now.

She sat up abruptly, looking around, but couldn't see anyone. "Hello?" Her voice had a strange tone to it, but she didn't hear it. It sounded strange because she'd had to learn how to speak by reading peoples' lips, and therefore didn't exactly know how she sounded. She didn't even know how loud she was talking and had to take it all on faith. "If you're there, come out. If you mean me harm, I think it's low to take advantage of someone with a disability!"

Rowen - November 11, 2004 01:17 AM (GMT)
Rowen watched her still, as this girl seemed to take pleasure in this drinking of her own blood. She moved slightly more, her mind at wonder an odd feeling that this girl was different in some way, but soon ignored it, maybe the whole blood thing. Watching her still, her eye’s seemed to glow in the dime moonlight that flooded the open area where the two were.

Seeing her sit up so fast, and then hearing the strange tone in voice, plus the loudness of it, she knew something was wrong with this girl. In watching her and listening more she moved from the shadows of the night, until she stood before her looking down at her. Her eye’s almost soft, the sent of the girls blood lingered, but it didn’t bother her. She soon knelt down and shook her head. “I do not play with those who have a disability. It’s wrong in my mind and always will be. They have rights as anyone. My question is. Why is a girl like you out here this late at night and alone?" She asked her in wonder.

Elayna turned around slowly, trying to figure out where the supposed person was. Who knows? She might have imagined the whole thing and was making herself look like a complete freak by turing around, yelling out into a graveyard where the only people were putrifying deep in the earth. It didn't bother her much. She'd come to be known as a freak wherever she'd gone. Even in her job as a coroner, she was considered an oddity as she talked to the corpses that appeared on her table. The Hispanic woman didn't even bother to try and explain the connection she felt with them. If the people she worked for found out that she had this job not only because she was qualified, but because it satisfied her own needs, she might be kicked out. It wouldn't be the first time.

Turning, she jumped slightly as a woman seemed to appear out of the darkness. The woman was beautiful. She had long black hair, much like her own, but longer. The woman's blue eyes seemed to glow, and her skin was pale, much paler than Elayna's. She walked forward, and kneeled before the resident vampirist.

Reading what the woman said, Elayna huffed. "What do you mean a girl like me? I am exactly like everyone else, except for the fact that I can't hear. I can go where I'd like."

Rowen - November 11, 2004 07:48 PM (GMT)
Kneeling down to watch this girl, she cold only think, and then her eye’s drifted slightly around the darkness. The feeling of the dead was around as if they had never died and she soon fixed her eye’s on the grave this girl sat on. She gave a soft smile as the statue seemed to cry and look away from Rowen, but cold only be seen by her own eye’s. Soon her eye’s moved back to the girl and watched in wonder.

A small smile came at the sight of the girls jump, her eye’s almost flashed with delight. The graveyard was one of the few places that made her happy, even if she was how she was. Looking her over, then watched her come closer, her pale sink seemed normal in Rowen’s eye’s, and then followed her body as it kelt before her.

Listening to her, she grinned ever so lightly, and shook her head, looking right at her before talking softly.
“I mean no harm, nor insult you Miss. I am just simply saying why is a girl such as yourself here, alone, on nights like this people run around looking for fun, and might take advantage of you. I will not do as such.”

"I am here," said Elayna, a bit defensively, "because I can be alone here, and fufill my cravings. Normal people do not seem to understand me." There was a tone that had a mixture of sadness and bitterness woven into it. Of course, she didn't hear this, but she knew it was there from the emotion she was feeling. She ran a hand through her hair, and didn't elaborate.

It was a mental illness, she knew this, but she couldn't stop the cravings. It wasn't as if she was hurting anyone but herself. The scars on her arm could atest to that. Never had she taken blood from anyone else, not even just to kiss a sore better. That didn't mean that the urge wasn't there, but her blood satisfied these, and so she didn't need to resort to violence of any kind to get what she needed. However, the illness wasn't all that common, so people still thought it was merely self-mutilation. It wasn't. It was something far worse, or that seemed to be the consensus for most people.

There was a sudden flash in her head of a shadowy figure ripping out the throat of a young woman.

Shuddering slightly, she looked up at the woman, defiant. "I can handle myself." Her thoughts turned to the exact-o knife in her belt.

Rowen - November 11, 2004 08:29 PM (GMT)
Rowen listened to her and nodded softly to her words. She listened to each word, and in doing so she heard emotion that flowed off each word as if it was herself saying it. Letting her have her say an watching her moves she gave a soft nod. ‘I can see you do that, but I did not say I don’t understand you. I know what it’s like t have a craving.” She said, having a feeling this girl would understand her, and not be frightened by her.

Moving her own silk-like black hair from her face, and feeling it slightly damp with the mist around the graves, she didn’t much care. Her eye’s looked this women over slightly and wondered a bit to what was wrong with her, did want to be dead like her, or just have an odd fetish with her own blood. This it hit her like a brick, not like it would of hurt much if a brick did hit her, but she knew something was wrong with this girl. Her eye’s moved back to face, and gave a soft nod, she wasn’t going to tell her to stop, this could only be treated by a doctor of some kind if it was medical, or if it could be helped at all.

Her figure moved slightly, her eye’s glowed slightly as she watched the shudder from the women. “Oh, I don’t doubt you can’t handle yourself, but your own blood isn’t the best thing for you.”

Nafretiri - November 14, 2004 12:25 AM (GMT)

Elayna raised an eyebrow and back away slightly from the woman, her hands shaking slightly. What did this woman know of it? The picture of a bodiless head swam into her vision. His eyes stared blankly at her, and his tongue hang like a dog's out of his mouth, but it was not normal. It had long since turned a deep black, and the inside pulsated with white maggots focusing on devouring the decaying flesh. Birds had pecked out his eyes, and half of his cheek was missing, exposing the white bone underneath.

Shaking the image away, and not quite sure where it came from. She tried to speak, a slight stammer echoing through her words. "I-I don't know what you're talking a-about." Her hand clenching the knife underneath her hoodie, she turned to try and walk away. She tripped slightly, caught her balance, and tried to continue on, until the woman mentioned her blood.

Tensing, she didn't bother to turn around. So this woman had seen her? Her hands started to shake more violently. The woman didn't know anything about her. She didn't understand that without her blood, she would go insane. The pull was too strong. Without her weekly drink, she'd probably get violent. She didn't want that. "I'm not hurting anyone, not even myself. I'm fine. It's none of your business."

Rowen - November 14, 2004 05:36 PM (GMT)
Rowen watched her closely and she thought to her self if the women were some kind of demon, or some nut that should be in the mental hospital for treatment. The her mind started to wonder at the fear that soon started to flood from this women, how great it was the more she moved. Unmoving from her place, she watched her, her eye’s fixed like glue and one she stood, she followed to stand as well though didn’t follow her.

She could only think to the images this woman had seen in her head, and then some, but didn’t want to go picking around in a person mind, it was wrong. She gave a soft sigh, her eye’s followed, knowing the blade was close to the woman’s hand, but it wasn’t like it could do much damage to her. She only watcher her, her form baking a way and then stopping to look back at first, then move, then stop once again.

Seeing as she didn’t turn around to face her, she knew this woman was frightened of her now. Thought for what reason this woman had to be frightened was her own, and she sighed softly. Not following her, only letting her go, she looked around slightly. This place felt like home, then her eye’s shifted back to the women as she spoke. Hearing her words she nodded softly.
“I wasn’t saying you were hurting anyone, it’s you pick in life to do this, not mine, nor anyone else, your life is yours, do as you wish. I’m not trying to stop you from doing what you like.” She stated, her voice true.
