Title: Trails Of Crimson

Nafretiri - September 27, 2004 04:59 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri staggered through the deserted street, a trail of blood left behind her. One hand was tightly clamped to the wound on her abdomen. Her once white gown had been torn and dyed the crimson of her blood. Her steps were staggered, and her eyes blurred in and out of focus. The once tightly wound curls on her head were scattered around her face in disarray. The tracks of blood tears had dried on her face, making her look like some sort of demoness. Her shoes had been lost somewhere along the way, but she couldn't remember where or when.

She was so weak. Most of her blood had been lost in the battle she'd been in. Giving a hard swallow, she forced herself to go on. She had to. The enclosing darkness in her vision would have to be held at bay. Stumbling, the ancient being almost fell, but caught herself just in time. More tears welled up in her eyes because of the pain, but not the physical pain. Nafretiri was overcome with self-loathing at the moment. She hadn't been able to protect her charge. A vampire almost half her age had done so much damage. It was a damage not only to her body, but to her pride as well.

The old building of the library loomed in front of her. Choking on a sob, she continued forward with petite steps. Once she reached the doors, she could rest for a moment before continuing to her apartment. Just... a ... little... further. With a small, almost inaudible cry, she pitched forward, falling hard on the cement in front of her.

Sebastian had been walking aimlessly through the streets and back alleys when he caught the scent of blood, a vampire's blood. He found the trail quite easily and found it very easy to follow as there was plenty. Sebastian followed the trail at a quickened pace. Any vampire that had lost this much blood couldn't be in very good shape. And so he followed the blood to the doors of the library where a beautiful woman was passed out. Sebastian bent down and picked up the woman, then took her inside. Inside he found a table where he set her. She had lost a lot of blood, too much for her own good. Sebastian tore the sleeves from his shirt and used them to roughly bandage her abdomen. He then bit into his wrist, then held his wrist to the woman's mouth so that she could regain some of her life.

Nafretiri - September 27, 2004 05:26 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri wasn't sure when she became aware that she was no longer on her stomach out in the streets, but she accepted it. When one is barely conscious, it is hard to question things. It was only when she cracked her eyes open and saw a man over her that she realized what must have happened. It didn't come as that huge of a surprise. The wound had created too much blood to go unnoticed by anyone, especially her own kind. They did say that Ancient blood was more powerful. One of her kind was bound to have picked up on the scent.

Confused, she saw that he had bandaged her stomach, and was now biting into his wrist. It was placed before her, and it smelled oh so tempting. Her mouth watered at the smell and sight of it, but no. With a look of pain, she turned her head to the side. "I cannot... accept." Her voice was raspy from the tears she had lost, as well as the blood. This was the last thing she would do. Last she had taken blood from another, he had claimed that he owned her. She would rather die than have such things happen again. No, there would not be another Tarek.

Besides, she deserved to die. She'd failed. As one of the Amman, it was an utter disgrace. As a woman who had made a promise, it was heartbreaking.

Sebastian smiled slightly as he turned her face to look at him. "I can tell that you're an Amman. You're too stubborn for you own good, now drink before you lose more of your strength." Sebastian pressed his wrist against the woman's lips. Sebastian then took a bit of his shirt that he'd soaked with water from one of the library's restrooms and started wiping the dried blood from the woman's face.

Nafretiri frowned at the man. Why was he helping her anyway? He did not need to be kind, and yet here he was, acting like a mother to a child. Raising a hand, she pushed his hand away and gave him a firm look. "I am fine." Sitting up, she jumped off the table she had been laying on. Her knees almost crumpled beneath her, and she would have fallen if she hadn't held on to the table. The room swirled for a moment, but Nafretiri still struggled to stand up.

Slowly turning around to face him, she continued, "Yes, I am of the Amman, and yes, I am quite stubborn when I wish to be. I cannot accept your blood for the simple reason that I do not know if I will be able to stop. Better to have the one of us in this condition that deserves it." She coughed slightly, a bit of blood rolling out of the side of her mouth. The woman quickly wiped it away. "I - I may die, but if so, it is because I wish it to be so. Now," Her voice was commanding, "I thank you for your assistance, but -" The room suddenly swirled faster and Nafretiri fell to her knees. A frown of what looked to be disgust washed over her face as she regarded herself.

Sebastian frowned a bit as he walked over to help the vampiress to her feet, then pulled a chair up for her to sit. "Well you may not want my blood but you will rest until you've regained some of your strength. Some of your wounds still haven't closed up yet." He glanced around quickly until he found something he'd been looking for. He left the woman for a second, then returned with a cup, probably belonging to the librarian. Sebastian bit into his arm again and held the cup under the small stream of blood. When the cup had filled he handed it over to the woman. "Well since you wouldn't be able to stop drinking from my arm, drink from this. It's better than nothing at all." Sebastian pulled up a chair for himself and looked over the woman. "My name's Sebastian and I'm wondering why a beautiful woman like yourself was so brutally beaten. I don't think you'll die, as long as you quit being so stubborn and let me help you. Who did this to you?"

Nafretiri - September 27, 2004 11:12 PM (GMT)

Relunctantly letting the man help her into a chair, Nafretiri watched curiously as he disappeared an returned with a cup. Her first impression was that he was bringing her some tea or the like, but with a bite to his wrist, she found that was not so. With a sigh, she accepted the cup, muttering mentally about how the man would not give up, and that she should most likely be thankful. But she wasn't. Too weary was she to have gratitude for this man. With a small sip, she swallowed his blood. Just by the amount of power, she could tell that he was not old - or not in her way of looking at things.

Giving a bitter snort, Nafretiri looked him in the eye. "Why do you wish to know who did this to me? There is nothing you could do, even if you did manage to find her. I was attacked by Nyx, the leader of the Tarepha, for the simple reason that I had something she wanted, and I got in the way. It turns out that I am not as powerful as I thought I was, and my charge died because of my foolishness." With a sigh, she took another sip. A small nod of greeting was sent to him. "Nice to meet you Sebastian. I fear I am not the best company tonight, but I am called Nafretiri."

ShibbyRocker06 - September 27, 2004 11:47 PM (GMT)
Sebastian nodded and looked over at the woman. "Ah. Even the very old can be arrogant and underestimating. I won't ask any more about the situation as it's none of my business. I'm sure your wounds have healed up by now, so I guess I'll leave you to yourself." He had been sensing that this Nafretiri didn't really want him around. Sebastian stood up and gave the woman another long look before starting towards the door. He then spoke back to her without turning around. "You should rest and regain your energy before you try to leave, but you're an Amman. You already know everything there is to know."

Nafretiri - September 28, 2004 12:23 AM (GMT)

Nafretiri glared at the assuming young immortal in front of her. She was not arrogant! Yes, she had underestimated the leader of the Tarepha, but that was it. She had never fought a Tarepha member before. How was she to know that Nyx could move so swiftly. She watched as her would-be savior walked away. "Just because I am of the Amman, does not mean I know everything. I have a great deal left to learn. I do know, however, that it does not do to presume you know about a person by snippets of information they have given you. I am not arrogant as you seem to believe. I would have given my life for that mortal, but I could not. Best think about that."

Sebastian stopped in the doorway, but did not turn to the woman. "Nor does it do to think that you can go through life, whichever life that may be, without the aid of anyone. Everyone needs help at some time or another and you look as if you could use a good deal of it right now. You're still weak and I hope that this Nyx didn't send anyone to finish the job." Sebastian turned his head to the side slightly. "I hold you to no debt, do what you will." He then stepped outside the door.
