Title: Still By The Sword
Description: Juuuust keeping up his training...

Syaoran - September 13, 2004 09:47 AM (GMT)
The air was thick, humidity flowing with the warm breeze. Syaoran walked briskly toward the Unmei Dojo. He had heard about it from some passing kids. It sounded new…interesting. The perfect place to train. The ancient slipped through the Dojo doors, avoiding the bells completely. Scanning the area, he frowned slightly. There were classes of children practicing drill punches to the sound of their sensei’s barked numbers. The constant sounds triggered his mind, his memory…

“Faster!” A young Chinese boy pushed the air back with his fist at immense speed. His tan body moved with graceful, fluid movements and with each yell from his mentor his speed only increased. This training was harsh for a twelve-year-old, but that was what was necessary to strengthen the clan’s ‘Chosen one’.
“Little Wolf!” Instantly, every muscle halted. He had made a mistake, he knew it.
“That is all.” The young Syaoran’s red eyes peered after his mentor. The man had not picked up on his mistake. But next time he would not be so fortunate. He had to get better…stronger. For the sake of his Clan…he had to for his duty…

Syaoran sighed. Things like that were better left forgotten. Upon entering he noted a form placed on a desk near the door. Skimming over it, he took the attached pen and signed. The Chinese symbols of his name curved and formed from the tip of the pen. He was not about to change his way of writing it just for the sake of the times. Breathing silently, he moved across the room, his eyes set one the swords laid out on a weapons table. Most were beautifully crafted weapons, he did not ignore that, but he scanned over them with slight distaste. Soon enough he found a slender Chinese set at the edge of the table. He reached out and gripped it. The hilt felt warm to his touch, this was the one. Removing his jacket, and chain, he centred himself within the straw mat training circle. This area was now the territory of the Wolf.

Sliding his foot forward, bending his back leg, Syaoran took his most favoured strike position. The sword chimed near his ear, almost begging for him to begin. Like in a trance, he moved. So beginning what he has done for countless years. His mind only knew the sword as its singing spread through the Dojo.

(( OOC: ^^”” If any one is wondering…the singing…well...basically if a sword is swung just right (takes a lot of skill mind you) the metal will move, kinda wobble, thus making a chiming noise ^^…it sounds really nice. Sort of like the Chinese health balls…but more of a metallic sound.))

(I wasn't sure if you wanted me to join this board or not, but keep in mind Adrian is available if you need to speak with him. If thats the case, just PM me and I'll jump over to this board.)

Syaoran - September 18, 2004 11:41 PM (GMT)
~ Syaoran halted his movements, too sudden for most to comprehend. Every muscle on his body froze over, the chill of immortality once again filling him. Something within him felt bored with training alone. Looking up, the ancient spotted the owner of the Dojo. Interest flared in those almost unreadable fiery eyes. Syaoran placed down his sword and approached the man, not a sound was made from his feet. It was as if he barely touched the ground. Once he was close, he spoke.

'You are Adrian, are you not? The owner of this Dojo?' Syaoran's eyes flickered and glowed, the flames within them burning fiercely. He sized the man up, his stare cold and calculated...and he seemed to be almost analysing what he saw.

((OOC: There you go...if you like, you can make your entrance. ^___^))

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 03:20 AM (GMT)
Adrian turned swiftly at the voice, sizing up that which snuck up on him. As he took in account of the other, he chuckled, "You are quite the quiet one." He commented, strong arms crossing over his chest, "Yes... I'm Adrian....You know, I don't think I even heard the door bells ring," He paused, shaking his head, "No, I didn't.. but I must have been busy with something else." He flicked back a lock of his dirty blonde hair, a grin stretching across his lips. "I'm assuming you already signed in?" He walked smoothly toward the binder, and glanced at the characters he didn't recognize. He knew very little Japanese, not chinese, and close to nothing when trying to decifer symbols. "Ehh, I'm sorry... I can't read this, please forgive me." He bowed his head faintly in respect, "I'm not familiar with reading these kinds of characters, however, its a pleasure to meet you Mr....?" He left a pause for the name to be filled in.

The sensai's eyes took their gaze to the sword that was still in said strangers hand, "Ahh, I see you've about the open practice... The weaponry is quite lovely, I thought, but I'm more into hand to hand." He admitted, "That is just there for those that wish to practice, and have the skill to do so... otherwise I would ask you to use a kendo. Don't wish anyone to get hurt in my Dojo."

(Short.... Sorry...)

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 03:37 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran swiftly bowed.

'Forgive me. I only use Chinese characters...I prefer to keep to the customs of where I came from.' He stood straight again, keeping his gaze locked with the man before him. 'And no, the bells did not ring...I wish not to make too much noise.' The ancient watched him carefully, taking in what he saw. 'I am here for open practice, as you call it, yes. But I feel I would be best tested if I face another...with or with out a sword.' He paused again, before bowing once more. 'My name is Syaoran, by the way...and it is an honour to meet you.'

((OOC: Short? No...*points to her post* short-ER.))

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 03:44 AM (GMT)
"Well, Syaoran, the pleasure is mine for certain." He said aloud, bowing once more, before clasping his hands together behind his back. A brow, however, did rise out of question, "Yes... I can see that you are quite the stealthy one, reminded me of my sensai when he would test me." He chuckled aloud, "I have not been snuck up on like that in a very long time." He admitted, making it quite the compliment. His bare feet lightly brushed against the bamboo mat, a smile curling on his lips.

"Ahh, a sparring partner? Alright... as you can see I've been rather free with time. I don't really have any students at the moment coming in to learn. Which may be a problem for this little business.... I still have payments to make and the like." He said all this without thinking, before an embarrassed laugh took him. "Sorry... letting my thoughts flow outloud. Its not your concern." He bowed once more, smiling again. "Alright.. What form or style would you like to spar in?" He asked, removing the thin framed silver glasses he wore occasionally when reading, or viewing something close up. "I am capable of shotokan, tae kwon do, and jujitsu... And dabble very lightly in other fighting styles." He informed, "So you may choose."

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 03:58 AM (GMT)
~ 'Any.' Syaoran replied quietly. Something with inside begged him to do something. With out much thought he spoke. 'I could sponsor the Dojo, if you wish of it. I have much to give...' he paused and sighed. 'But no one to really give it to. So I would be more than willing to help your cause.' Syaoran ran a hand through his wild hair, and forced a slight smile to grace his lips. He wanted to be a little less than mechanical today. Moving with his animal like grace, the immortal placed down his sword back on the table. 'Please...choose any that you wish to use...perhaps your best field.'

You're going to need your best to beat me. The thought sparkled behind his eyes as he moved onto the training area. 'Say the word and we shall commence.'

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 04:16 AM (GMT)
"You would do that?" He was shocked, "Thats quite generous of you. I would never have asked of you, that, Syaoran." His gray eyes blinked in his amazement. Though he said no more as he watched the other, obviously more interested in a spar then talking about said sponsorship. He shook his head to clear away the thought.. he didn't want to get his hopes up just yet. "Ehh.. alright, if you'd like." He paused, and put away the binder, before moving out on the mat, not far behind the new aquaintance.

"How much knowledge do you have of these arts?" He questioned out of curiosity, bowing to the male before him before lifting up his stature a little, back straight, legs spread, hands coming up above his body to create a half circle. Instead of waiting for the answer, he would test this as he shouted, "Yoi!" His hands, fisted, came to his chest, crossed and ready- shotokan was more of his field, and more used for defence, then offence, however.... both fists came up to create a smaller half cirle, before one came down, focused on his sparring partner's chest, while the other, back and bent at the elbow, made ready for a second blow, or try at least to deflect a coming attack.

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 04:25 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran dodged it effortlessly, his movements fluid and graceful.

'Shotokan.' He breathed. Now he knew what was coming his way. With skills that took him his entire immortal life to gain, he slipped in past Adrians defenses and raised his fist, ready to strike a blow.

((OOC: OOO! How exciting! My first fight scene! Though it's just sparring....still!))

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 04:31 AM (GMT)
Adrian was impressed... very few could dodge one blow, and get through it without so much as a bruise. In fact, he hadn't even touched the male. That second arm that had been pulled back, like an arrow on a string was swiftly brought down to his chest for protection, while the other met it, creating a defending X against him as the blow came. There was a momentary sting against his forearms, but he was used to that. After the blow was when he took his chances, and ducked to swing his leg around, charging toward the other's middle, a good swift circular kick, posing a threat to throw Syaoran off balance. (You'll notice that when I am doing fighting scenes, I like to make then short because I want to give the other person a chance to react.)

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 04:40 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran swiftly jumped back, throwing his wieght over. His fingers taped the ground, continueing his momentuim, before he landing on his feet. Every motion and movement was still soundless and Syaoran seemed far from losing his breath. He took this time to take a stance and ready himself. With his legs apart and bent, his arms set in defensive positions...he waited.

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
Lunging forward, and striking out with a backfist, Adrian also attempted to follow this with an unexpected bottom fist, aimed to strike down on Syaoran's collar bone, while the other was focused on coming down against the other's chest. This, however, made Adrian shift his weight, making it hard to keep ballanced. For every strong side... there was a weak side, something that he had learned the hardway, but was willing to take his chances, even if pain would be involved. All while doing this, Adrian thought of his master, thought of the Shotokan tiger, giving him strength within.

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 04:53 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran dropped and swung his leg at Adrian's feet with one fluid motion. He barely dodged the blow but madged, none-of-the-less.

((OOC: Sorry 'bout the shortness))

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 05:00 AM (GMT)
He left in just enough time to barely miss the leg that was coming, swung beneath him. With that open moment, and gravity and his side, open fisted, he brought down the side of his palm, perhaps fast enough to hit his opponant, while the opposite hand darted toward the other's chest. "E-Eh!" The sensai shouted, his gray eyes intent on keeping watch as to how Syaoran moved, cautious of this stranger.

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 05:06 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran was in a tight spot, and he knew it. But his training served him well. He caught both blows with ease and with strength none would expect from someone of his stature he throw Adrian over his head.

((OOC: Why am I laughing?...heh heh...*has mental image of Syaoran picking up Adrian and tossing him* HAHAHA! Sorry. =_=""))

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 05:07 AM (GMT)
((OOC: Sorry! I should have said that Syaoran caught him by the wrists! SORRY!))

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 05:18 AM (GMT)
Adrian was quite suprised indeed when he landed on his back, the wind getting knocked from him. He growled, and flipped up, taking a defensive stance as he stood back, and though he seemed rather agressive now, his eyes betrayed it... still as gentle as they were before they had begun.

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 05:27 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran slowly stood, almost swaying as he did. The long bangs over his face hid his fiery eyes. For someone who was extremely attractive, in this moment, he seemed other-worldly, and fearsome. The air around him was cold almost chilling. Slowly and surely he took an attack position, his leg slid across the mat until his was almost crouching. His other leg was bent underneth him and his hands formed claws as he positioned his arms. Still those fiery windows were hidden. Syaoran knew that if he struck, Adrian would not be able to defend himself, not against what Syaoran had waiting. So the ancient remained motionless, like a wolf watching its prey...just waiting for the right moment to strike.

((OOC: Sorry...I couldn't help myself...like a wolf...hee hee.))

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 05:36 AM (GMT)
Adrian remained, legs spread for leverage, arms bent at the elbow, as he relaxed, and waited, in a defence possition. He waited, silently, as he watched Syaoran, admiring the style used... it certainly was not shotokan.. that was for certain, and a few thoughts crossed his mind that could help his possition.

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 05:44 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran remained utterly silent for a good minute or two, before his silky voice filled the area.

'Have you heard of Wuden? It is an ancient Chinese style that was said to be lost hundreds of years ago...A shame to lose such an art as that.' Syaoran slid his foot up back to his other, while standing. His raised his leg, balancing perfectly on the other. His hands changed shape, just as if he were performing a sacred pray. Again he waited.

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 05:58 AM (GMT)
He watched the other carefully, his still calmed, silenced and contemplating. Sweat dotted his brow, however, he was still quite the looker as hair clung to his brow and cheeks. Remaining where he was, he sighed inwardly, finding this exhausting, since he'd had such a long week with the move, and unpacking he had done only hours before...

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 06:03 AM (GMT)
~ That's it...keep distracting yourself. Syaoran waited...then the moment came. He moved with speed that only a select few could and to most he would seem nothing more then a black streak. He pulled his fist back and aimed for Adrian's stomach...still not a sound was heard...nothing but Adrian's breathing.

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 06:09 AM (GMT)
Adrian had closed his eyes... but despite the silence, it was quite hard to keep a bamboo mat quiet, and open snapped his gray eyes. He saw the fist coming, and with a quick movement, spun, hands coming out to push the streaking forearms away in a good defensive move, content with it as the blow missed. ~For every action...~ He remembered, ~There is a reaction. For every strength.. a weakness. Remember this Adrian... and you will do well~ The sound of his masters voice made him smile, and he stepped back, taking yet another defensive possition. 'This is why I took these classes,' He thought to himself, 'defence... not offence.'

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 06:25 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran gave him a piercing look. This man was better than any other he had faced.

'You're very good...your technique is a wise one.' The ancient commented quietly. 'I hope we are able to spar often.' With that said, Syaoran launched at Adrian full speed, this time...connecting.

((OOC: Sorry! Sorry! I hope that's okay! *is on knees* sorry!))

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 06:30 AM (GMT)
(O.o You're supposed to attempt to hit the person... jeese....)

Adrian lurched forward, his eyes revealing pain. He had thought.. they were finished... but obviously he was under the wrong impressions. He fell onto his knees, holding his torso with a hand, while struggling to use the other, and keep his body up. He felt shakey... and suddenly suffering an extreme case of nausea. An unfair attack, to say the least...

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 06:34 AM (GMT)
~Syaoran stepped forward and offered a hand.

'I'm sorry. Did I catch you off gaurd?'

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 06:38 AM (GMT)
He refused the hand, slowly standing. "Off gaurd..... I'd say so..." He grumbled. Though still, his warmness, his friendly nature didn't seem phased, other then the fact that he had just been sucker punched in the gut. He touched at his lip, which he had bit quick hard accidentally coming down, the blood staining his chin. "Damn..." He sighed, looking at the red stuff on his fingertips.

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 06:42 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran pulled a cloth out of his pocket and offered it to him.

'Forgive me...I should not have been so aggresive...I did a dishonourable thing.' Syaoran bowed very low. It was true...he had been too into the fight, he didn't think. 'Please...do forgive me.'

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 06:47 AM (GMT)
He had taken the cloth, drawing it to his mouth to dab at the blood, though it was quite useless, as the wound was on the inside. "Boy... thats quite a nice hole I've made...." He murmered, drawing away from the other as Syaoran bowed. "Think nothing of it.... I just need to put something on this to stop the bleeding...." As structured as he seemed, he hurt all over, as he walked toward the desk to rummage through the emergency kit. He pulled a small white stick from inside, rubbing it against the inside of his lip, a sigh slowly easing from him. And above all other things.. he now felt like he was going to throw up.... This made Adrian quite glad he hadn't eaten anything during the day, because if he had... well.

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 06:55 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran suddenly felt a rush of guilt...though it was not like him to.

'Still, I apologise.' The ancient looked unphased by the fight, he was not panting nor sweating. He seemed just as calm as he was before they had begun. 'Your technique is a very good one to use...seems to be helpfull for times when you need it, ne?'

((OOC: Ne=a sound or word that is said after a statement that is asking for an agreement or opinion. 'Tis japanese...but eh. *shrugs* Syaoran's mother was Japanese...I should have mentioned that too in the history part. heh heh. ^^"""))

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 06:58 AM (GMT)
(I know what ne means. ^_^ But thank you.)

He gave a small shrug, still rubbing the small stick against the wound, which seemed to be helping for the most part.. the bleeding slowing, while he wiped at the dribbles running over his chin. "The technique I use is flawless if you know how to use it... I, obviously have somethings still to learn....." He glanced toward the male, curious. "All that time.... You made no sound... You were much quicker then I could see, and now you stand before me without a bead of swear on your brow...." He was obviously suspicious. "No one has made me bleed so much."

Syaoran - September 19, 2004 07:07 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran took this unflichingly.

'I have trained my whole life...in a more...advanced stage. It has been years since someone has dodged a punch from me. But most of the time I just train. It is best not to get tired out quickly...that way you have the upperhand in a battle.' Syaoran knew he spoke like a warrior would of his times but he could not care less...what he said was true. 'And I meant not to cause you much harm...none at all...that's why I held back...but I should have held back more.' Th ancient rolled his shoulders slightly after say this. His muscles now felt looser.

Ailes Cassées - September 19, 2004 06:13 PM (GMT)
"Well I'm only human." Adrian protested, as he leaned back in the chair, "I've been working all day long, so its quite hard to not get tired out." He frowned a little, and touched his lip, making sure the wound wasn't still bleeding. With a split lip, and probably a few bruised ribs, Adrian stood, "Anyway... It was nice to spar with you.. But right now, I think I could use a little meditation."

Syaoran - September 20, 2004 08:56 AM (GMT)
~ Syaoran bowed lower this time.

'I meant not to offend you, and I will make my presence less known for you.' The ancient turned on heel and headed back to the training circle. There was no trace of sound as he moved, grace filled his every step. Shame filled him more and more as he approached the weapons table. The half lidded fiery eyes he stared at the swords before him, before retrieve the one he wielded before. Once again he took his place in the centre of the mat, and the haunting, beautiful singing of the sword breathed through the Dojo again.
