Title: Vampire Handicaps?
Morrigan - July 15, 2009 12:27 AM (GMT)
This may have been asked before, but I wanted to check before making a character -
If a mortal was blind or deaf or mute before they were "turned", would they be healed? I was thinking of making a blind vampire!
Thanks.

According to Lili and Pandora, if you had something done to you prior to becoming a Vampire, it doesn't regenerate when you're turned. So you'd have to have been blinded prior to being turned.
As a side note, you'll probably become hyper-sensitive to sound, so any loud noises would seriously freak your character out.

I guess you're right! I just couldn't remember if I read it anywhere or not. O.O
Heighten other senses would an advantage, true. Wouldn't it be tough to be mute, deaf, and blind though?

It would be difficult for a vampire to survive with all three disabilities, because two of their main senses would be gone. All they would have left would be smell and it could be difficult on them. If you are willing to try, go ahead and be my guest. Good Luck!!!

I'd pick one between the three, honestly. Having all three, in addition to being extremely difficult to roleplay, would be very difficult to live and feed. Most likely, you'd be relying on some other vampire, or perhaps mortal to assist you with everything. Not much fun for you or that person.
So while the concept is pretty cool-sounding, it doesn't make for a very satisfying roleplaying experience

 I agree! I had no intention of making a vampire with so many handicaps! I was thinking blind, perhaps. Being a visual person it would be a fun challenge.

Just be careful as to how far you choose to go with the "heightened senses" thing. Don't make him too much like Daredevil. Though, admittedly, if you began to develop telekinetic powers, it might be interesting to try and turn that to your advantage. Possibly "seeing" through the eyes of a mortal?
Also, how old are you planning on making this character?

Seeing through the eyes of a mortal.
How I pity that poor mortal.
....actually, now that it's been mentioned, that would be a cool character too. If this expands that far, keep me in mind.

That's an interesting thought. You could have a familiar with you at all times, being your eyes. Well, humans can be familiars too.

Or, if the her mental powers had developed enough, she could just be walking down a busy street and every person (mortal or immortal) who she passed would serve as her "eyes" for however long it takes for her to pass within a designated amount of space from them. So, like her senses would jump from person to person, or something along those lines? Just an idea. ;)

If you did that, you'd have a constant headache. I imagine that in addition to being able to hone your abilities to "see" through their eyes, you'll also be reading their thoughts. And reading the thoughts of that many stupid people will probably cause you to commit suicide. Though, admitedly, that would be pretty funny

Wow! You all have really good points. :mwaha: Thanks!

I'm thinking of making a new character who would work really well (in my humble) as a vampire's 'pet' or familiar. Would your char be interested in something like that? Having a companion, at least for a goodly amount of time, to act as eyes?
Morrigan - August 29, 2009 04:54 AM (GMT)
That could be fun! It would be nice to have an outside source. :) I'm thinking of making my vamp fairly young as a vampire and completely blind. I'm still working on his personality though...
What kind of "pet" are you making?
Risk - August 29, 2009 04:58 AM (GMT)
I'm thinking a young gay male, probably worked the streets for a short amount of time... Until he became your char's pet, perhaps? Maybe a college dropout or a little younger.

Excellent idea! I'll whip up a profile for mine this weekend and pass it by you!
