So, I was thinking about ways in which good ol' Vital might drum up some new enthusiasm and was trying to come up with a conflict-laden plot that lots of folks can be involved in that isn't a coven war. (Although I do think a coven war would be a good idea... no sense having a bunch of differing covens if they don't irk each other, no? But I digress.)
Here's what I came up with and apologies if it seems really lame because I've been awake for 21 hours and probably ain't thinking too clearly.
I was thinking... what if there's this event of some kind, like the sky lights up white and doesn't darken for a week? It doesn't necessarily have to harm vampires because it isn't really sunlight (wavelengths aren't right, something, I dunno much about that) but it's just this really bright light with no apparent source. Nobody can tell where it's coming from or why it has suddenly appeared. And then, just as suddenly as it appeared, the light blinks out and the sky cycle goes back to normal.
Then the really weird shit starts to happen. Terminally ill people suddenly become well--the lame leap, the deaf hear, and the dumb sing the praises of the land, the whole bit. Vampires lose their powers and become human, healthy humans with ancient DNA--maybe even an ancient lack of immunity to modern-day diseases? But not even the vampires who aren't affected by this "curing" are safe because humans start getting powers. Not super-powerful X-Men powers, but enough to make them a bit tougher prey for the middle-aged or fledglings. Ancients who haven't lost their vampirism would probably still be powerful enough that the newly empowered humans still wouldn't pose much of a threat.
I just thought I'd toss the idea out there for consideration. It impacts everyone and the covens might need to scramble to figure out what to do. (Which means the coven leaders need to get involved... coughcough... What? Nothing. *whistle*) Plus, it could bring increased threat of discovery as scientists/doctors/etc. from the world over descend on Demaitre to try to understand what has happened.
Yeah... No offense meant... But I think it's just the sleep deprivation...
Yeah, I seriously doubt anything that drastic will be happening anytime soon. Though I did like the part about it being "daytime" for a week or so. I think it would be rather interesting to see how the vampires would respond to having to it being bright outside for several days. The rest was interesting, but it's just not really....Vital, you know? :heh:
You get points for originality, but I don't think I want to do something quite so extreme with Vital...especially with there being no cause behind it. Plus, it's a little tough to localize a sky-event over just one city. :heh: But I appreciate the input.
There may yet be a site-wide plot, but it's kind of on the back burner right now while I focus on getting things back in shape. We might even do something extreme in a sort of alternate reality board (we could all use our existing characters, but whatever happens to them in the alternate reality doesn't stick with them). I might even put your idea to use in said theoretical alternate reality board. :heh: We'll see. :)
Huh. I kinda liked it. "Drastic", yes, but it might help Vital shake off the doldrums. *shrug*
