Title: Well That Wasn't Nice...
Description: Rem

Silver Wolf19 - April 21, 2009 03:26 AM (GMT)
Sharp green eyes peeked out of the bushes, her little fingers not making a sound against the leaves as she moved them ever so slightly.

Rem brought her every now and again when her thirst got too bad, probably to keep her away from people so she wouldn't kill them. Or at least that was what she had pieced together from what she saw in her 'mothers' mind. But she'd snuck away, drawn to one campsite by the glow and scent of a fire.

Spirit moved closer and began to hear voices, young ones... Young girls...

Peering through the foliage now she saw them, a group of ten or so around a fire, they were singing songs with an older lady with them, and they were all wearing some sort of uniform. 'Girl Guides' she read on the front of one of their uniforms. Well, she knew what a girl was of course, she was one. But what was a guide exactly? And did the two words have special meanings together?

Well that was only a secondary thought in her mind. They would eventually have to go to sleep... And if she could hide from Rem long enough... The Thirst burned in her throat... They might as well have taken coals from the fire and shoved them down than to tempt her with their scent.

She shivered with the anticipation of the kill, but she knew she had to wait. She was stronger than them all, she knew that well. But they had to stay secret... That was the most important thing, keep the secret.

"Mrs Blake? I'm going to the latrines!" She heard a voice call out and then a movement caught Spirit's eye and her head snapped quickly, a hunter tuning into her prey. One of the girls she hadn't seen before, older... She was going off on her own!

Silently she followed behind the brush, her feet not making a sound. They were almost out of range of the fire now... The facility that was her goal, still quite some yards off.

Taking a deep breath Spirit shivered again. Fresh blood... warm, delicious blood would soon be hers... not that disgusting stuff the doctor brought over some times...

Rem - April 22, 2009 12:59 AM (GMT)
rem was not sure when spirit had got away from her, but the child seemed to be learning quickly how to best use her powers and small size. she was worried what the child might do since she was so young still and did not seem to fully understand her reasoning for their victims. she tried to track the girl though more than once she lost that sweet scent that she found so calming. hours seem to pass before she finally reached out with her mental hand searching for any trace of her, but without any results.

she seemed blind even with all her power and centuries since she could not find a single small vampire child. it was about the time she was almost going to give up her search and hope the girl did not do anything rash that she found the sweet scent again.

following it she was lead to the park were it only grew in strength making her certain the girl was there still. she did not care who saw her since she was not hunting humans. she was dressing in a snug cream tank, a pair of simple black jeans and a pair of sandals.

Silver Wolf19 - April 22, 2009 02:24 AM (GMT)
Spirit was so absorbed by the burning scent of the girl that she didn't even recognize Rem's scent stirring on the breeze. She wanted to quench the thirst.... Sooth the burn and the ache in her throat.

She was following the girl silently, watching her move, waiting for just the right time to strike.

But the girl stopped, the young vampire froze too.

"Uh... Ma'am are you lost?" The girl asked curiously. But Spirit couldn't see who she was talking to. But as the wind stirred again, she didn't need to.

Her lips pulled back in a slight snarl. Her mother was here... And there could be only one reason for that. To stop her. She held her breath, sitting still as only a vampire could. Maybe... Maybe Rem wouldn't notice her... Maybe she could hide here until Rem left...

Rem - April 23, 2009 03:27 AM (GMT)
rem was on one of the paths as girl seemed to happen upon her without her realizing it. she looks up as the child as she calls out to her asking if she was lost. rem in turn gives the girl a friendly smile as she says in a soothing tone 'no, i am just looking for someone.' as she spoke she reached out with her mental hand and touched the girls mind. she was not surprised that the girl had no knowledge of spirit since she was still alive, though on that note she tries to twist the girls thoughts. it is dangerous out in the park at night alone.... or even in a group.... some of the stories of mangled bodies could easily be true....

rem hoped that was enough to get the girl out of there and away to safety since she was not to be prey tonight if she could help it. she could easily find spirit even without searching the girl out since her hunger was like a beacon, though rem was not going to take the girl by force as she had before. it was time she learned who was their prey and why, so tonight she would only be a guide trying to keep the innocent still living in the end.

Silver Wolf19 - April 23, 2009 03:46 AM (GMT)
"Uhh... Right!" She said slightly dazed.

"Well... I... I should go back and get my buddy! It's kinda creepy out here alone and I thought I'd be able to see the camp from the bathroom, but I guess not." She nearly squeaked before turning and running back to the camp.

Spirit could only watch wide-eyed at the girl as she ran off.

Nooo... She moaned silently in her head. There went her cure... There went the pleasure and thrill she could almost taste...

Rem had found her, and she knew it... Their bond was an odd one, where they could find each other if they needed to and even speak to each other. Spirit could talk to Rem easier if she was touching her, but sometimes she could still get things through.

But right now touching her mother was the last thing she wanted to do.

Anger boiled up inside her, making her clench her little fists in the dirt. How could she! How could she just walk up and keep her from quenching the terrible burning in her throat! She had to feel it too! She killed people and didn't seem too upset by it! She wasn't going to let anyone know what happened! She knew how to clean up!

Why couldn't she hunt? She was good at it, she loved it. Fear made her thrill, made her heart leap with delight and the taste of the blood... It had been gross when she thought of it at first... But it was so delicious... And it was the only thing that made the burn fade.

Standing up she stood, her emerald eyes narrowed, her fists still clenched. The angry set of her face held a demanding question. Why?

Rem - April 24, 2009 04:21 AM (GMT)
rem could only smirk as the girl easily took to her suggestion and ran off back to the crowd of mortals where she would be safer. she could feel spirits anger as the girl disappeared from site making rem turn towards her. though she could easily reach out and touch spirits mind to hear her thought she did not have to at the moment. she knew exactly why the girl was angry though in time she may find forgiveness.

in a soft tone just loud enough for spirits ears to hear she says in a tender tone 'that girl is not your prey, she has done nothing wrong to deserve death at your hands.' she pauses for a moment turning away from where the girl hid before she continued 'though tonight you will have to learn the difference between who is and who is not your prey on your own, though i stop you if you chose wrong.' she then stands there waiting for spirits anger to possible over come her since she knew by now the thirst would be unbearable.

Silver Wolf19 - April 24, 2009 04:32 AM (GMT)
Learn who she could and couldn't hunt? What was the point in that! As long as she didn't get caught, what did it matter?! Every human was torture to her... Every human made her ache and tremble with pain and eagerness. how could she resist them? Why should she? If they smelt so good, they must be meant as prey right? If she wasn't supposed to feed from someone, they'd smell bad.

Or that was what she figured anyway. And it wasn't like she really wanted to kill them... She was trying to stop herself, she was really. But it was just so hard to stop once she tasted the blood. Even Rem was hard pressed to tear her away from a victim while she was feeding.

"I don't care... I try not to kill them, isn't that enough? Besides, I have to live too, are their lives more important then mine?" That was her life on the street talking. You took care of yourself first, the others in your group second. Everyone else... Well they could take care of themselves. "They make my throat burn... I want them! I can't help it! Nothing else matters mama, I just hear the blood... The warm scent burning through me... I can't stand it!"

A look of agony was in her eyes as she looked at Rem, pleading with her to let her have her way. "I want them Mama... Please..." Usually the pleading innocent look on her face worked, well not all the time with Rem, but with anyone else, it was flawless.

Rem - April 24, 2009 04:52 AM (GMT)
rem hid her frown from spirit as the girl seemed to plead with her to have her way, though half of her wanted to so badly ignore her normal rules the other side would not allow it. there was too much of a reason of why she could not just let the girl have her way, and the main one was to not be like the monsters that stole their lives in the end.

rem turned back towards spirit with sad eyes as she says in a stern tone 'you cant have just any of them, though there are plenty of the ones you can have to fill your belly with. you just have to find them... they are much stronger than the others and are tainted by the smell of fear from their victims'

Silver Wolf19 - April 24, 2009 05:06 AM (GMT)
Spirit crossed her arms with a 'hmph'. She didn't care how strong they were... She didn't like the scent of fear really. It was fun to chase people but the way fear made a person reek... The sweet scent of the girls around the fire made her feel like someone had taken a stick from their fire and shoved it down her throat.

She couldn't help but look back, gazing longingly towards where she knew the girls were... They would be going to bed soon... They would be helpless... Asleep...

She didn't want to hurt them.. But the temptation of their blood was stronger than any other calling she'd felt from blood before. Just thinking about it made her drift a few steps towards the campsite. But Rem's eyes on her made her stop.

"I can't stand it... I want them! I want them Mama! Why doesn't it bother you? Why don't you want them like I do! It hurts... Even to think about them it makes my throat burn! I don't want anything else, I want them! How come you ain't like that too?" She didn't know who she was more upset with...

The girls for driving her mad...

Rem for being so cool and callous to the situation....

Or herself... Why was she so different from Rem? Was she just a monster?

Rem - April 24, 2009 05:52 AM (GMT)
rem watched as spirit started to step towards the girls camp but seemed to stop since she was watching. she again listened to the girl as she spoke of wanting their blood, she could not blame the girl since she was still young and her cravings where much stronger at the moment. though it did not give her the right to gore on the blood of innocent mortals, it would make her no better than the others.

rem stepped closer to spirit as she wanted to comfort the girl, but stopped since she was not sure if spirit would accept it at the moment. in a soothing tone she says 'i do want their blood, but their hands have not taken life so i am not able to take theirs in return. if i were i would be no better than the man who slit your throat those many nights ago. it will get more bearable in time, i promise.'

Silver Wolf19 - April 24, 2009 06:06 AM (GMT)
No... It wouldn't get better... Rem said that... but how could it? How could it get better? How could this pain and longing go away? How could that feel better without being quenched by the blood that burned it?

Her face grew pained as she thought about the past few months she'd been with Rem in this new life... The sadness on Rem's face as the woman watched her feed... The thrill she felt as she sucked away the life of the victims in her grasp. The way she wanted to drain the lives of the girls near by just to satisfy her own wants.

The young girl's face twisted into something that looked like a mask depicting disgust, horror, fear....

With a strangled cry she turned and ran into the woods, her little legs carrying her as fast as they could through the trees that she could see perfectly in the darkness.

She wasn't like Rem... Rem had tried to make her like her... But something had gone wrong... Something bad had happened to her, and Rem was just trying to pretend she was okay. But she'd turned into a monster... She'd turned in to a demon of the worst sorts... Not the rescuing angel that Rem was... She'd gone wrong, and it wouldn't ever get better.

She'd tried... Those first few weeks, to starve herself, keep the blood away so that Rem would be proud of her, so she wouldn't have to see the sadness and disgust on her face... But it had made her even more horrible... More horrible because she was already a monster.

Rem - April 25, 2009 12:56 AM (GMT)
rem silently watch spirit hoping the girl would understand just what was going on, though to her horror spirit face twisted and she took off into the woods. she was not sure what was going through the girls mind, but she was going to find out and not just by reaching out and touching it either. she had to admit the spirit was much quicker in the trees since she was much smaller than her, but rem was not going to let her go.

rem had doubted that she did the right thing by turning spirit a few time before once since she could not stomach watch such an innocent child take the life of another, even if it was a vile mortal who deserved it. though she quickly pushed her doubt aside since she could not have just let the child die and take the emotions she created with her.

Silver Wolf19 - April 25, 2009 01:22 AM (GMT)
"I'm a monster... I'm a monster... I'm not like Rem... I'm something different..." That thought consumed her... It was the only thing that she could even comprehend, it was the only reason she could think of that she couldn't resist the scent of the blood... The only reason why she wanted to kill the girls.

She hated herself... Hated everything about what she was now... Why did Rem do this to her? Did she think that she would be okay? Did Rem think that she would be a good vampire? But she wasn't... She'd... she'd failed... Rem had given her a great gift... And...

And she wasn't worthy of it.

With a sob she tripped over a root, sending her sprawling nearly twenty yards. Twigs, branches and bushes tore at her as she skidded through the underbrush. tumbling head over heals. She lay their still, the scent of her blood evident. But she didn't care. Rem had to understand... Rem knew that she was a monster, that was why she was so sad all the time.

Maybe... Maybe Rem wouldn't follow her and she could just lay here and fall asleep before the sun came up... Then let the sun...

She didn't want to die... She didn't want to at all. But if it was the only way to make Rem happy... If it was the only way that she could stop being a monster...

Rem - April 25, 2009 02:19 AM (GMT)
as rem got closer to spirit she could hear the girls mental screams making her cringe as she listened to them. she tries to go faster but only manages to rip her clothing on the underbrush as it catch on to her. she desperately feels the need to hold the girl and calm her mind, easing it of her current thoughts.

up a head she can hear something fall forcing her to duck and weave through the plants even quicker as a sense of urgency comes over her. she stops cold though as she catches the sweet scent of spirits blood as horror washes over her. after a second she continues forward only to find the girl a good number of yards away in the underbrush curled up in a ball.

she could not help but rush over to her like any mother might to their hurt child, though in the back of rems mind she knew spirit would be fine. it only took a half of a second before she kneeling next to her scooping her up in her arms tenderly. in a soft soothing tone tainted by her concern for spirit she says 'are you ok? please tell me if you are ok?' she could not stop the words as they rushed out as if it was natural for her to ask them.

Silver Wolf19 - April 25, 2009 02:28 AM (GMT)
She was shaking as Rem found her, her eyes closed tight as she refused to uncurl from the ball she was in.

"No... Nono... Go away... Go away!" She pleaded with Rem. She didn't want to stay like this she didn't want to be a monster!

All of her fear and disgust flowed from her to Rem with their close contact. She hated herself. Hated what she was and what she had to do. Hated how that she was a monster, even though Rem had tried to help her.

She had ruined everything...

She was a monster....

Crimson tears flowed down her face and she curled into Rem's chest. Why? Why was she so horrible? Why was she like this? She had tried... Tried so hard to Make Rem proud and happy with her... But she'd failed... She'd become a monster...

Rem - April 25, 2009 03:04 AM (GMT)
the only answer rem got from spirit was the wave of fear and disgust as spirit seemed to scream for her to got away. it pained rem to her the girls cries and feel the overwhelming flood of emotions, though she could not do what spirit wanted. her heart just would not let her, it had grown too attached to the young child. not to mention it was she who curse spirit to be 6 for the rest of eternity and so it would be she who took care of the girl during that time.

rem pulls the small child close to her to the point if her heart was still beating it would ring loud in her ears. rem reaches out with her mental hand trying to connect with spirit, though this time it was much harder than the rest due to all of the girls emotions. though after a minute or two she is able to finally touch her mind.

it seemed to be a roaring sea that was unwilling to be tamed, though rem tried anyway to softly caress it as one of her hands moves softly across the girls cheek. in a soothing tone that was filled with sense of love for the girl she says 'you are not a monster... if anything you are my humanity.... you are what stopped me that day we went to the store from killing the others..... you are the one that stopped me from slaying that guard..... i still crave them just like you..... i just have a few centuries practice of not giving in til the time is right..... it does not mean i do not mess up at times though.'

Silver Wolf19 - April 25, 2009 03:13 AM (GMT)
She didn't respond to Rem's words directly. Instead her response came as another surge of almost nonsensical, twisted thoughts.

But she could stop. Rem didn't kill them unless they were bad. Rem didn't kill them unless they deserved it. She was good, Rem wasn't bad, not like she was. She didn't seem to have any problems with the thirst for blood... She wasn't an out of control monster.

Why didn't Rem hate her though? She couldn't feel that in the woman's thoughts. Why wasn't Rem hating her like She hated herself? Spirit knew she was a disgusting, evil monster... Rem usually got rid of people like that... Why wasn't Rem doing anything to her? She knew what she had become was bad. She could feel it in her heart.

She deserved to die... Just like the ones who'd hurt her... Just like the ones that Rem killed when she needed to. She deserved to die... And maybe that would make the workd better...

Rem - April 25, 2009 09:34 PM (GMT)
rem could only smile sadly at spirit as another wave thoughts hit her. it pained her to not be able to get through to the child who she now cared for. with reluctance she pulls her mental hand back from spirit since she had another job for it to do. if the child would not believe her words, maybe.. just maybe she would believe her own memories.

it had been too many years to count since that last time she shifted through her memories in search for anything. they were as a neglected library covered in dust and in disrepair, too many of them had blank pages from their ink fading over the years. shelf after shelf she searches for that night, though as she seems to get closer to it she could feel her raw instinct grow. it was not bad a first since she had years of practice, as the dust is brushed away more and more she can feel her muscles begin to tense around spirit making her take long deep breaths of the childs calming scent. deep she looked as she continued to fight off the now almost overpowering raw instinct to hunt the mortals nearby. there in the darkest corner she finds it, though little seemed to remain of it. the faces of her victims were burls, though the excitement, thirst, and even rage remained untouched by the years.

rem had continued to carcass spirit tenderly even as she fought with her inner demon and tensed her body. she finally tightens her hold on the girl as she reaches out with her mental hand in efforts to desperately show the girl her memory or what was left of it. she was not sure what her own raw instinct and thirst would do to spirit but she had to show the girl she was not a monster. not like she had been her first many of years.

Silver Wolf19 - April 26, 2009 05:09 PM (GMT)
Spirit nearly screamed as the memory flooded into her, her eyes seeing everything. The thirst hit her hard again, refusing to be ignored now. There were people there, so sweet smelling and delicious. She tried to reach out to one, but her fists hit empty air. Again and again she tried to grab at them, and again her fingers only went through them.

The frustration overwhelmed her, but the vision began to fade and she realized that she was only in the woods... Rem was there but no one else. Everything else had faded, but the thirst... It hadn't left... It was still there and wasn't going anywhere.

She was so thirsty now... So thirst that only the off scent of Rem's blood kept her from attacking her. It was a good thing they were so far in the woods, where no other humans were. If she'd smelt even a whiff of one, only Rem would be able to stop her from hunting, stop her from killing and satisfying the lust.

She was a monster... It didn't matter what Rem had done. She knew Rem wasn't a monster anymore, but... But that didn't matter. Spirit knew that she was a monster, no matter what Rem might say. But how... how had Rem changed? How had she stopped?

Her body shuddered, trembled from hunger more so, as she lay still and quiet in Rem's arms. She was determined not to move... Not to breath, not to cry anymore. It wouldn't help anything after all. She had to stop this... Stop becoming a monster. But how? Should she try not tasting blood again? Was what why she was so horrible? What made her such an evil creature, what caused the difference between them?

Rem - April 28, 2009 03:30 PM (GMT)
rem could feel spirit shudder in her arms as her memory ended making her hope that the girl understood that she was not the monster she though she was. she lightly caressed her cheek as she spoke soothingly to her 'it just takes time for you to get use to it is all. i have lived too many lives to count with the thirst and soon you will to, they pass so quickly that you wont realize it until you finally look back at them.'

rems breathing became deeper by the minute as the linger effects of her memory faded, though it left her with a greater hunger for blood than normal. she reaches out with her mind and finds nothing causing her to have mix feelings. she was glad there was no innocents about but at the same time there was no prey. it was then the thought hit her that there were other things that could satisfy their hunger besides humans, though she was not even how it would work. she raises her head and takes a long deep breath of the woods surrounding them catching the scents of a few different animals.

she was not sure which scent belonged to what animal but at the moment anything would do. standing up she gently cradles the very still girl in her arms. rem pitied spirit as she looked down at her with a heavy heart. she did not mean to cause the girl such pain, but she hoped her realization would help her. in a soothing tone rem says 'how about we try to hunt something different tonight?'

Silver Wolf19 - April 28, 2009 03:38 PM (GMT)
"No... No blood..." She murmured as Rem said that they should go hunting. She didn't want to hurt anyone, she didn't want to kill anymore, to be a monster. She wasn't going to...

"I... I don't want to be a monster.... I don't want this Rem..." She whimpered, snuggling into Rem's chest. Couldn't she just have spaghetti? Or one of the other things that Rem had bought for her a while ago? Why couldn't she eat normal food? She might have wanted blood, but how could she just ignore the fact that there was still real food.

"Can't... Can't I still eat normal food? Can't I... Please?" She whimpered.

Rem - April 28, 2009 04:17 PM (GMT)
rem tried to ignore the girls pleads as the seemed to eat away at her heart making her regret her selfish action of turning her. she shakes her head as water starts to pool in her eyes causing her to look away as small rivers start to flow down her pale face. in a sad tone rem says 'no.... spirit, you cant eat normal food anymore.... it will kill you' she pauses as she lifts her hand to her face and wipes away some of her tears.

looking down at her rem tries to meet the girls eyes with her own with a hopeful look as she tries to find the words to explain how this hunt would be different. in a soft somewhat excited tone she says 'what if i told you we did not have to hunt people? there are other things that can take care of our needs, like deer or other animals.' she pauses as she caress spirits cheek in a tender loving way before adding 'would you try it at least once for me?'

Silver Wolf19 - April 28, 2009 04:26 PM (GMT)
"But I still want them... I want them Mama... And I know regular food smells funny, but couldn't I try to eat it?" She tried to beg. She didn't want blood, she didn't want to kill people, hurt people... She wanted to be the way she had been, wanted to be herself... Because now she was something different... She was something... bad.

She whimpered as Rem caressed her cheek.

She didn't want to... She didn't want to eat anything, she wanted to be normal... Maybe if she just started eating normal food... Maybe then she'd become normal again...

"Why Mama? Why do I have to be like this...? Why can't I be good like you?"

Rem - April 28, 2009 05:19 PM (GMT)
rem tried to shut out the girls pleads but she could not bring herself to draw but her mental hand from her. she could only shake her head in answer as she again tried to search for the words to try to get spirit to understand. after a moment she says in a tender tone 'spirit you are good, you just dont realize it.... that was why i changed you, i wanted you to know a better life than what you had....'

rem lightly caresses spirits cheek again as she looks down at the girl with shame as she says in a low voice that was little more than a whisper 'i was selfish spirit, that night when we were attacked.... you should have died.... but i could not lose you.... i was wrong to do that to you since there is no going back.... and you have to drink blood of some kind to survive. ' she tighten her hold on spirit just slightly as she waits for the girls reaction hoping that she understood, but doubted since she was only 6 and had a poor life to start with

Silver Wolf19 - April 28, 2009 05:40 PM (GMT)
"If I were good... I wouldn't want to kill them... I wouldn't.." She murmured.

She looked away though as Rem spoke. There was no going back... What Rem had done was forever... Even when she grew up she would still want blood... "But I wouldn't have left you... Even when we die, we're still here, with the people who love us." Or at least that was what she always thought.

"I like being with you.... I like what I am except for wanting to hurt people. It's the only thing I don't like... I don't want to drink their blood. I would be happy without that... I just don't want to like hurting people..."

Rem - April 29, 2009 04:35 AM (GMT)
rem could not be mad with spirit for not understand, though that did not mean she could not be disappointed. she shakes her head as she tries to find the right words again to get through to the girl she so desperately wanted to help. she turns her attention back to the thought of hunting animals, if she could only get spirit to grasp the idea she was sure the child would thrive in her new life.

taking her hand rem lightly guides spirits face back to her own as she looks down at her with a warm smile. in a soft tone she says 'if you dont want to hurt humans then how about we try hunting animals..... i can teach you how to kill them without letting them suffer.... and if you are full the thirst you feel right now will be nothing more than a tickle in the back of your throat, so you wont want to hurt the others.'

Silver Wolf19 - April 29, 2009 04:41 AM (GMT)
Animals? Could they hunt animals? She'd smelled dogs and cats before, and they didn't smell appetizing at all. But... It would help? It would make it so she didn't want to hurt people? If it meant that she wouldn't have to be a monster...

Spirit nodded slightly. "If... If it can help... Yeah I... I guess I'll try... I... I don't want to make you sad... I don't want to be a monster Mama..." She agreed.

But she just... She just wanted to go home. She just wanted to curl up against Rem and close her eyes to ignore everything else. She knew that wouldn't help the thirst, but she just didn't feel like it.

"Can... Can we go tomorrow? I just wanna go home... Be with you." She murmured. But who knew... maybe Rem wanted to try this now.

Rem - April 29, 2009 04:33 PM (GMT)
she smiles softly at her as she talks about not wanting to be a monster. rem was a little relieved when spirit finally agreed to try hunting animals since that was the only solution she could think of to help her not have to kill the humans. she was not sure how to even go about it herself but if that was what it would take to ease her childs pain she too would be willing to switch, though it would not stop her from hunting the monsters that roamed the streets at night. she would just not partake of their blood after she mangled their bodies as payment for their crimes.

she leans down and lightly kisses spirits forehead as she says in a soft soothing tone 'tomorrow will be fine, i will need to prepare for it anyway.' holding spirit close to her rem starts out of the woods, though she could have used a hunt it would not truly hurt her to go a day longer since she had feed last night. as she walks out of the woods she continues to carcass spirit mentally.

Silver Wolf19 - April 30, 2009 02:52 PM (GMT)
Spirit said nothing, but closed her mind off from Rem's as they made their way back home. The lights of the city moving with Rem's speed passed her by, and she didn't really notice anything until they were stopped at the door. The scent of humans overwhelmed her in the appartment building and she groaned painfully. So many days asleep had she had nightmares where she imagined herself sitting in a pool of blood right outside the door, the bodies of their neighbors around her...

She shut her eyes tight, pressing her face into Rems chest.

Rem's scent helped to drive off the scent of the humans, but it was still there, making her throat burn.

Once they were inside everything was better as she could hardly smell humans. None had been in the appartment, so it didn't bother her nearly as much.

It was only once she'd curled up on the foot of the bed, thinking about taking a bath, did she open her mind back up to Rem. "Mama?" She asked softly. "Can we really just hunt animals? And I won't want to hurt people anymore?"

Rem - May 1, 2009 01:00 AM (GMT)
rem was more than releaved to be back in the apartment since spirit had shut her out. the girls groans as they enter the apartment building seemed to eat away at her being making her run that much faster. it was a good thing rem was already dead since if she was not she would be laid out on the floor trying to catch her breath, though she was and only wiped a small amount of sweat off her brow after letting spirit go.

hearing spirits voice again rem turn towards the child as she laid on the bed listening to the girls words as if they were her last. she sat down next to her and lightly ran her fingers across spirits cheeks lightly as she says in a soft tone 'if that is what it takes for you to not think you are a monster then yes. their blood is just as good as a humans for our needs.'

rem could not find it in her to tell the girl that she was still planned on hunting humans since now if it took her giving up the 'job' she held for centuries to please her she would do it. she could not understand a true mother heart, but she was getting a good taste of it now.

Spirit nodded as Rem told her that it would help her. And... Well people ate animals after all, so why couldn't she?

Slipping down of the bed she made her way to the bathroom, deciding to wash the dirt and smell of humans from her. "I trust you Mama..." She said giving Rem a small smile, but the expression barely touched her eyes. "I'm gonna go clean up... Still dirty from when I fell..."

After pouring liberal amounts of bubble bath into the tub she started the water, siting on the edge as she waited for it to fill. She was trying not to think about the humans... About what she was becoming.... Because Rem could be right... Maybe everyone did feel like this, maybe everyone who became what they were fought with this. But she could be good. She would be good.

One thing she hated, was to see Rem so sad about what was happening. She had only tried to help her, she'd only ever done good things for her. She just wanted to make Rem happy.

Rem - May 3, 2009 12:39 AM (GMT)
rem watch spirit as she nodded seemingly accepting the decision to hunt animals. her eyes follow her as she slips off the bed and started to make her way to the bath room. rem was tempted to follow after her and help bath her like she did the first night she had spirit, but tonight she had other work to do.

she listened to the water run as she got up and retrieved her laptop, she did not use it often just mainly when she need to contact her company about something. it was not that she was not any good at using them, but that she got annoyed that they never seemed to be able to keep up with her.

she curls up on the bed again with the computer in her lap as she starts to look up information about the area surrounding the city and where the best place to start hunting was. she smiled softly to herself as she thought of them hunting and the peace it would hopefully bring to spirit. she lost track of time as she silently tapped on the keys on the lap top, stopping lonely when the computer could not keep up with her demands.

Scrubbing the dirt off of her, Spirit tried not to think as she sat in the warm water. It... It was too hard to think about the things she was. It hurt her almost physically to think about them. Well, it certainly made her head hurt and made her want to just cry and hit things. And well... She knew about how strong she was now, so hitting things wasn't the best idea, even though she really wanted to...

But the whole 'not thinking' thing wasn't going very well at all. As it was she was squeezing the loofa so hard that had it been anything but a squishy material, it probably would have been destroyed.

Her whole body was shaking with the mixture of emotions that were flooding her. Anger, frustration, fear.... She didn't know which was more prevelant... She didn't care really. There were so many things going on, so much she didn't understand... Things she thought she shouldn't have to deal with and certainly didn't know how to deal with them.

Something was beginning to dawn on her... Something she didn't want to aknowladge....

Rem - May 6, 2009 10:59 PM (GMT)
rem was still sitting on the bed when she felt the need to check on spirit, though the child like to have long baths at times the lack of splashing worried her. placing the computer on the bed she gets up and heads towards the bathroom door. she was saddened when she felt the mix of emotions and almost void of thoughts as she stepped closer. she might have noticed it earlier if only she was not so engrossed in what she was doing.

she slowly opens the door as she calls out softly in a soothing tone 'is everything alright spirit?'

Silver Wolf19 - May 6, 2009 11:07 PM (GMT)
As she heard Rem's voice, her head snapped up, her face clear of the troubles that were plaguing her.

She blinked slightly and turned her head. "Guess so... Dunno..." Her voice was faint, as if she were far away. "Just... Just thinking is all..." She admitted at last. She didn't want to worry Rem. She didn't like it when Rem was upset, and knowing what she was thinking would only upset Rem.

"Mama?" She murmured after a few moments of silence. "How old are you...?"

Rem - May 7, 2009 10:30 PM (GMT)
rem enters the bathroom only to find spirit still there in the water, which was somewhat of a relief but she still wondered what had her there so long. when the faint voice came she could tell something was up, though possible not wrong it would have been her first choice knowing spirits most recent behavior.

she takes a seat on the side of the large tub and look down at spirit as she asks bout her age. rem had to take a moment to think about it before saying softly 'over 2000 yrs i think give or take a few. why? was something bothering you my dear?' though spirit tried to hid things from her, more than just her humanity was given to her when she found spirit. she might not have had any children of her own, but she surely had a mothers heart and instincts when it came to spirit.

she did not want her to feel pressed into answering since all of her recent dark thoughts were more than enough for rem to bare, but at the same time she did not want spirit to suffer in silence.

Silver Wolf19 - May 7, 2009 10:36 PM (GMT)
Two thousand years? Spirit couldn't even comprehend how long that was. To her... Two thousand years was... well she didn't have the ability to really understand.

Her face was troubled for a moment, but then she shook her head and smiled. "It's nothing... I was just thinking." She said quietly. She looked at the woman's face, her features, the smoothness of her skin. The way her hair was always so soft and shiny, and though she was so delicate looking, Spirit knew she was strong.

"I hope I'm pretty like you when I grow up..." She said, pushing the dark thoughts from her mind as she stood out of the water and grabbing the towel that sat on the edge of the tub. "You're really pretty mama."

Rem - May 11, 2009 02:55 AM (GMT)
rem tilts her head in question as spirit dismisses her question, though she does not pursue the answer since she would find it out in time. she slightly freezes when spirit comments about growing up since she had yet to tell the girl she would not age. in truth though she was not sure if spirit would understand it, and if did what would happen. she did not want to lose her, but neither did she want to lie to her about things. it would only cause problems later if she lied now and since they never died that eternity was not acceptable.

rem lightly places her hand on spirits shoulder ready if needed to hold her still, though she doubted she would be forced to do so. she looks down at spirit with a sad expression tainted by the shame she now felt for cursing the girl to be this way forever. in a tender soothing tone she says 'you are already beautiful spirit, but yes you will become even more so in time. though you will not age anymore...'

Silver Wolf19 - May 11, 2009 05:00 AM (GMT)
Me? Beautiful?" She shook her head. She wasn't pretty, she was just a mess. She knew that. All of the kids on the streets were. If they'd been cute or anything, someone would have wanted to keep them. She didn't know why her own mother hadn't wanted her.

"I'm just trouble. That's what Bullet always said. But she's not mean about it, it's just the way I am." If there had been one thing that had greatly improved since she'd been taken in by Rem, was her English. She could speak properly now, and even read some.

But... She wouldn't get old? She'd never have to worry about getting old and wrinkly? Or really old and sick like she saw some of the people who were still on the street? That was a good thing wasn't it? That she'd never have to worry about that. But why did Rem look so sad then? She only looked like this when there was something that... Something that Rem knew and understood that she didn't. Something that wasn't good like she thought it was, but was bad in a way... Bad for some reason....

She shook her head, water flicking off the ends as she wrapped the towel around her shoulders. She didn't want to think about it. There was a reason Rem looked sad, but right now... Right now she didn't want to know it.

"Will you read me a story mama?" Her green eyes looked up blinking slightly.
