Title: Preparing For a New Class
Description: Open

Damon Harbinger - November 24, 2008 04:37 PM (GMT)
When Damon Harbinger stepped into the classroom very very early one morning (as in before the sun thought to rise) he was thankful for once that he had given himself a few hours to prepare before the students would make an appearance. The classroom itself was empty, without decoration or distinguishability, and so, without a second thought he had decided to bring a few boxes of things related to biology. On the shelves around the room he began placing his jars of preserved specimens ranging from Phylum Cnideria (the Jellyfish) to an animal from every class of Phylum Chordata (anything with a backbone). He even had specimens for Phylum Porifera (Sponges) at the very beginning in these cabinents and each jar he not only handled with care but also with a pair of latex gloves on in case he dropped them. He never did but it was a precaution he took none the less.

Once that was done he went about the room, starting at the very back, putting up posters of the phylogenetic tree and diagrams of the animals he was going to cover that year, including the small Kingdom of Protista, essentually bringing the classroom back to his mind in the biological sense. He'd just have to remember to take down a certain poster or two for a test but since he wrote up the tests, he doubted he would forget to not include information that was on the posters. Finally, when he reached the front of the classroom, he set his well made clay models of the different phyla they were to cover in the locked drawer of his desk, each of them in order so that when the school year started he didn't have to search for the proper one.

He decided to take a short break then, relax for a little while, before adding the slides he had ordered and some microscopes to the prep room. There were not many but he had to label the folders that they came in and make sure none of the lenses were cracked. He wasn't quite sure how he was going to get these brats to learn anything just yet but he was going to try. Some high schools in this country, he believed, he may actually enjoy teaching in.
