The Guide to Admin-Pleasing Mortals (a.k.a. Mortals for Dummies)
A second effort to save yourselves from feeling the wrath of the picky admin.
1. Mortals are not magic users. There is no exception for this. Vampires are to be the only beings that possess anything of supernatural ability. If you wish to RP a magical mortal, go to our brother site, Once.
2. Mortals will not have additional limbs. Falling under the same category as above, mortals are not to have wings, tails, or extra arms and legs. Not functional ones, anyway. If you somehow got a hold of wings large enough to be sewn to your back, then sure, go for it, if you’re into that sort of self mutilation. But realize that your character would not be leading any form of normal life thereafter.
3. Mortals do not have much reason to suspect the actual existence of vampires. This should probably be number one, but I’ve had more trouble with the first two than this. Marcus and the rest of the Amman make a point of cleaning up after the other vampire covens and independents. Drained corpses are unlikely to be found. If you find a character in the process of feeding, chances are your character is going to get killed, or have their memory wiped of the event. In rare cases, mortals are befriended by vampires. That is pretty much the only circumstance that a mortal is likely to retain knowledge of vampiric existence from. As a site-wide plot point, perhaps I may consider it, but do not join a character who off the bat knows that there have to be vampires in the city.
4. Variety! We need a variety of mortals. Seriously. As is, this city is made up of teeny boppers and twenty year olds, the majority, or possibly all, of which are white. Be daring! Make a forty year old black jazz piano player for one of the clubs! The oriental man who sells souvenirs from a cart on a street corner! That old guy who throws empty pop cans at people passing by...
