Golden waves fell over honey-brown eyes as the Greek woman passed through the trees, her form as slender and fragile as the willows that she walked through. Her loose cream colored capri’s hung delicately on her frame but her matching tank top was rather fitting, hugging her shape as her bare feet whispered across the grass.

She sighed and found herself moving to lean against a tree as she arrived at the duck pond, the waters rippling gently with the breeze, moonlight glinting off of the flickering waves. Something else glittered in the light, a brand new flute- grasped rather tightly in the woman’s ivory hand.

She was bored, as bored as the old can be. Life had been so exciting- and yet- now she was bored, another twist- another turn and she was alone again, but she couldn’t possibly always be accompanied by someone? Besides, she didn’t want to have someone hanging on her all the time. She needed her space. She was an Amman after all- and they weren’t necessarily the most sociable of vampires. They tended to be loners- and she had been a loner for such a long…. Long time.

It was depressing really…. How alone she had been- ever since her mother died, ever since Angelette left.

Ariel let her fingers wander over her gold necklace, the jewelry glinting in the reflected light of the moon goddess. She had always loved this necklace- so bright and pure, but slightly worn where her mother had fingered it in her anxiousness, in her nervousness, in her dying days….

The vampiress brushed the thoughts away with less than a simple thought, willing away her sorrows and her losses- for after her mother came other tragedies that she could not bear to remember without someone by her side to make it bearable. She never wanted to delve into her past too deep unless someone were there to catch her. Age…. It certainly did things too. Certainly it gave you power, but it also gave you loss, hardship, enmity, jealousy, and a loneliness that was almost unbearable. But she had bared it- and the days of reward were at hand. Karma had to come back to her. For all she had done- something good just had to come back in return. And it had- she did believe it had one night. And even if it were just one night- it was enough to satisfy her for maybe…. Maybe another thousand years?

She sighed again and let herself flit to the ground with an age-old grace that she had acquired in the city-state of Sparta and ran her fingers through the lush grass before picking up her flute and putting it to her bottom lip, lightly blowing down and trying out a few notes before running into song, the music playing freely over the cool night air.
