Title: And Ending With Dessert

The three of them walked there, silent most of the way. Isabelle kept an eye on the ten year old boy the whole way, glancing at him here and there, almost afraid to let him out of her site less something should happen to him. Poor child. She frowned, how could she let him leave, back into the brutal, chilly night? But it seemed she had no choice.
When they arrived the bouncer didn't even check their ID's... it was as if he hadn't even cared. Strange, but Isabelle thought nothing of it and went inside.
She picked out a table somewhat close to the fire and sat down to wait for someone to come take their order. Glancing around she noticed most everyone was alone and most everyone looked pathetic... sad and drunk. Isabelle let out a sigh. What a sad place the world had become. But at least it was quiet there.

Hale acted like a child his age would, skipping to keep up with the two adults, his short legs speeding. He smiled at the prospect of food and had buried the 50 dollars deep into the pocket of his hoodie. As a vampire he didn't need money and he would return it. She had been so generous. He wouldn't kill her, maybe simply scare her a bit. She shouldn't trust children so readily, despite what her heart felt.
He followed them, throwing a charming smile to the bouncer before settling down next to the adults. He glanced around the room, looking at everything, exactly like a child would act. He never forgot the fact that he was a child but sometimes he didn't want to act like a child and now more than ever he had to be careful.
If he had been mortal, he was sure that his mouth would have been drooling. The smells were so interesting and he was curious but what smell came from where. What did each smell equal to here? What kinda food smelled like that? To many it would have been a depressing and squalid, but the Hale's overly sensitive nose it was like a carnival.

Breeze looked around the King's Brewery. It took all her will power not to make a face in disgust.
As a vampire, Breeze never lived the high life. Back in Los Angelas, her and Rain's apartment had been cold and dank, the walls peeling with slight mold. She'd stayed in hotels that would make humans scream. She'd sat in restaurants that probably didn't pass any sort of health code. Hell, she'd slept in the streets and eaten rats at points in her unlife.
But her problem with this establishment was that it reminded her of the past. Of Da's tavern. Of grubby, grabby hands and cheap, warm ale and cleaning tables and floors that never stayed clean.
But for now, she kept her silence. "This is . . . cozy."

Isabelle nodded to Breeze, "Yeah. Sad though, isn't it?"
She grinned. Probably the only one grinning in the whole place.
The waitress approached them.
"What can I get you guys?"
Isabelle frowned and looked at Hale, "What do you want little guy?"
She hoped she didn't offend him by making him feel young. But well... he was young and she'd been a nanny for so long before she automatically took on the persona of mom or big sister.

Hale looked at the waitress. He didn't know what he wanted. What was he going to do? His brow furrowed as he thought quickly about what to get, his eyes lit up. "Do you have some sort of broth? Chicken perhaps." He gave that ever so winning child like smile to the waitress knowing that it would coax almost anybody. Years, decades and centuries of practice usually add up. "Just the broth and nothing else."
The waitress looked surprised at the offer, but nodded and wrote it down. "What about you two? Anything I could get you?"

Isabelle frowned, thinking about that drink. Did she want it now, with a child around? She didn't see the harm in just one drink...
"Can a get a gin and tonic, please?"
She needed something to help her relax. She had been stressed before the night had even begun and the appearance of the boy hadn't helped her any.
Isabelle looked over at Breeze. She couldn't read the young woman. She seemed indifferent to the entire situation. Isabelle had hardly seen emotion cross the girls face. Except perhaps a hint of amusement a while back, though at what Isabelle didn't know.
And now she felt suddenly awkward, sitting there with the two of them. She hadn't realized how incredibly...unsual... it was.

Breeze looked at the waitress. Or more precisely, her throat. Her skin was unblemished. She was thin enough to see one of her veins as she tilted her head to the side. Saw her throat move as she swallowed. The subway suddenly seemed to have happened days ago. Oh she could picture the blood . . . red . . . warm . . .
NOT HERE! she ordered herself.
Breeze snapped herself out of it, turning her head away. "Whatever's on tap," she replied, once Isabelle and Hale had answered. She knew how to avoid questions about not actually drinking in public. Three sips - that were not actually sips at all, but lips to the glass and holding back the liquid from actually going down her throat - spread out over the time she was there.
She looked at Hale. He was quite the actor. She herself was almost convinced he was nothing more than a small, innocent, grateful little boy. Her gaze switched to Isabelle. She was sweet and generous as far as Breeze could see.
She inwardly sighed. No midnight snack from this one. Ah I'm going soft . . .

Hale's eyes went to the young vampire. She had no control, that much he could tell. He was a killer and had soft spot for motherly vampires, such as the human that they were sitting with. What human gave a small child fifty dollars and expect him to use it for food? Some were completely retarded. He would return the money and if need be protect the human from the younger uncontrollable vampire. what was happening to the young vampires of today.
He wondered how much the younger vampire knew about vampire stories. Vampires could drink anything there was no problem there, food was the problem. Which was why he had ordered a broth and not an actual meal. He figured that throwing up blood was not in his interest. Broth would do quite nicely, for his act.

Isabelle was often too kind for her own good. She wouldn't necessary call herself a push over, because she could be fiesty... if she wanted to. She was just not generally as stubborn as most people. She didn't worry about things out of her control and she had never been the kind to be selfish with her money. Though she should have been getting better at that. Her old roommate already owed her about six hundred dollars.
Isabelle's gaze shifted towards the small boy in front of her and once again, she felt that surge of pity go through her for him. What kind of a people didn't take care of their own? Humans were so oblivious to those that did not directly affect them. She hated that about humanity, which is perhaps why she had given him all the money she had on her.
The waitress came back with her gin and tonic and she sipped at it slowly.
"Where are you from?" Isabelle suddenly asked the girl, "Not from around here, right?"
breezetavern - May 8, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
Breeze looked at the girl. "Hm? Oh. No, I'm not. Ireland, originally. Though that seems like another lifetime ago now. I travel a lot. The States were the most recent stay."
She fiddled with her glass, turning it round and round. She glanced at the other vampire. Would he drink his broth? She didn't even know if vampires could digest anything else. There had been no one to teach her. Certainly not her sire. That bitch . . .
No, she'd just acted on instict. She'd crawled from the earth and everything told her to feed on blood.
She looked at her beer. She had no idea if it would harm her. But she wasn't much for expirements.
She looked back at Isabelle. "But you. You say you've always lived here?"
Aspen Raen - May 11, 2008 11:29 PM (GMT)
Isabelle nodded as she finished off her drink. Okay so she drank it a bit faster than she had wanted to, but she was nervous. She wondered if she should order something to eat, just to keep her hands busy.
"Yeah. I was born and raised her. I've only left Canada once, when I was in high school. A bunch of us seniors took a trip to France. But my mother had died recently and I only went because my father said it would take my mind off of things. I don't really remember it at all. It was gorgeous I'm sure. But I couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll go back some day."
She blushed, realizing she had rambled a bit more than she had wanted to. What was she doing here with this woman anyway? She shrugged to herself. She supposed she needed to meet new people. Why not here and why not now? It wasn't really that odd of a situation. People met people all the time and went out for drinks. How was this any different?
Maybe because Isabelle found herself slightly entranced with the woman in front of her. She was so beautiful... almost in an unnatural way. But maybe that was just a trick of the eyes. Or maybe it was because Isabelle saw something unusual in her the moment she had met her. It was somewhat unnerving but Isabelle couldn't place it so she ignored it. She felt that way around women often. She'd never gotten along with them as well as men so she was sure it was just her feeling intimidated or something of the sort. She liked her well enough, though she didn't really know her enough yet to tell.
