Title: Too late for a Movie
Description: -- Claude and open!
PushMyButtons - April 15, 2008 03:40 AM (GMT)
Sticking her hand in the pocket of her denim jacket her other put the cigarettes up to her lips. No one at home cared... In fact, her father and brother both smoked. She'd gotten a pack from her brother as a payment of sorts.
So she enjoyed them... They'd cost her more than they should have.... But seeing as she couldn't buy them herself...
Fuck him... He was why she was out here now... Even though it was nearly midnight. He'd gotten a bad grade on a test and he was pissed... Pissed because he wouldn't be able to play soccer for the school... And because his transfer in the fall was in danger...
If she went home while he was awake... It would only be trouble. Trouble that not even a pack of cigarettes was worth.
Blowing out the smoke she dropped the butt to the ground unceremoniously and stepped on it... Giving a yawn she stuffed the other hand into the pocket as well. She was so tired... But her brother would probably still be up for another hour. She'd wanted to go see a movie... But she was too fucking broke... She wanted to get a real job... But her father wouldn't sign the papers so she could work and go to school.
After all, why would he do something to keep her away from home when she was so useful around the house?
Aspen Raen - April 15, 2008 06:20 PM (GMT)
It was her break now. Two more hours of this shit and the club closed. She didn't want to be there that night. She wasn't certain why, she had never loathed her job. Not that she had enjoyed it either. Perhaps it was because tonight she didn't get to dance, just walk around topless and serve drinks. She knew why, it was nothing against her. Her boss liked it when she danced, but now she had to endure twice as many gropes. Tips were good though. Just not as.
Isabelle stepped outside the club and walked about a block down. Her jacket was wrapped tightly around her. She had slipped on a pair of jeans, hoping to at least grab something to eat somewhere else, but she wasn't sure what was open this late. She wasn't in the mood for late night breakfast. She wanted a burger.
She didn't generally smoke cigarettes, but the night was stressing her out and the smell was getting to her. After her mother died her father had picked up the habit and for a while they had smoked together. She quit just less than a year ago. But God, it sounded good right now.
"Hey," she grabbed the attention of the young girl that was smoking, "You got a cig?"
PushMyButtons - April 15, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
She jumped as she heard someone call out to her. Under age smoking wasn't that bad... But still if she got in trouble, her father would take it from her hide... Just about literally.
"Wasn't doin' no- Oh... Uh..." So she only wanted a cigarette? Well... She had nearly a full pack... "Yeah... I guess..." She said almost hesitantly. Those cigarettes cost her a lot more than the young woman would know but... "Sure..." She said pushing a fake smile to her face as she pulled out the pack from her pocket.
"I just thought you was gonna bust me er somthin." She said, a shaky grin coming to her face.
"You needs a light to?" She asked, offering her lighter.
Aspen Raen - April 15, 2008 06:38 PM (GMT)
Isabelle shook her head and laughed softly, "Not me. The cops and I don't exactly get along."
She took the lighter, "Yeah thanks." Lit the cig, handed it back to her, "You come out here this late often, aye?"
She was going to say something like "Don't you parents wonder where you are" but she didn't want to sound like her mother. And she didn't want to pry.
She took a long drag before she spoke up again, "Know any places to get a burger?"
She didn't hang around this part of town because she worked this part of town. She didn't like it when someone recognized her on the street.
PushMyButtons - April 15, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
"Uh... I just din wanna go home." She said with a shrug, frowning.
But she looked up as she asked if she knew a place to get a burger. But Adri shook her head. "Uh no... I'm a vegetarian... Sorry..." She murmured.
She couldn't eat meat... She tried, but she'd never cared for it much at all, and whenever she did eat meat she got sick afterwards. Or anything cooked in grease and fat... It made her sick even to think about it.
"But uh... I guess there's a McDonalds or Wendy's or something over that way." She said jabbing her thumb over her shoulder. She didn't eat 'fast food' either... She was a decent enough cook after all and well, vegetarian cooking wasn't all that hard when you didn't really have a wide diet... How else did she stay so slim after all?
With a slight shiver she fought the urge to pull out another cigarette. She'd already had four today... She never tried to have more than three... But today had been rough.
"Sorry..."
Aspen Raen - April 15, 2008 06:57 PM (GMT)
Isabelle shrugged. It had just been a long time since she'd eaten a burger. She generally tried to eat healthy as a rule. She just had this craving.
"It's chill."
She finished her cigarette and killed it on the wall they were next to before dropping it on the ground.
"I'll be right back."
She passed the girl and hung the next left. She'd just pick up a sandwhich at the gas station down the street. McDonalds made her sick.
Three minutes later she came back around the corner, small plastic bag in hand a a lighter in the other. She stopped by the girl, pulled out a pack of cigarettes, took one then tossed the pack at her.
"You can keep it. I don't smoke anymore."
Then she lit the one she had taken, suddenly not feeling so hungry.
PushMyButtons - April 15, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
When the girl left... She couldn't help but pull another one out... Sitting on the corner she smoked it slowly. The woman said she would be back... But who really cared. In fact she was surpised when the girl came back, even more so when she tossed her the nearly full pack of cigarettes at her.
But... Why?
"Uh... thanks." She said with a little grin. "You didn't need to ya know. My... My brother gets them for me... But thanks. He... He kinda charges me a lot when he does." She bit her lip slightly before looking up at her again.
"I... I don't mean to pry... Uh... But are you a dancer?" She asked quietly. The heals... The make up and hair... She really didn't care actually, and it was a step up from what she already was at home.
And she knew that there was a club near by. Maybe... Maybe she could get a job there... She didn't really know how to dance, but she was willing to learn. And... If she could dance, then maybe she could leave...
Her eyes became bright and she finished her last cigarette for the night. "Are you?" She asked, almost hopefully.
Aspen Raen - April 15, 2008 07:22 PM (GMT)
Isabelle took one last puff, put it out and let out the smoke in a deep sigh. One that almost caused her to cough. Then she put the refry in a tissue and stuck it in her coat pocket.
"Well I was craving another before I even got there, so I bought a pack and realized I probably shouldn't have, so no worries."
It was mostly true. Truth was, Isabelle felt she had to. And she knew the girl was underage. Couldn't buy her own pack, so why not?
At the girl's question she only shrugged and nodded.
"Yeah, at the club just down the block. Been there for about a year now. It pays well. Better if you are the favorite."
She winked and then rolled her eyes at herself, "That's nothing to be proud of. I'm trying to save up for college so I can dance again- and not as a stripper."
PushMyButtons - April 15, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
Adri nodded as she explained about the cigarettes. Still... That meant she had a few more days before she had to go to her brother again. "Thanks a lot though. Really." She said.
But as she said she was a dancer Adri stood up again. "D... D-ya think that you need another dancer? I mean... I don't know much... But I could learn really." It was a way out. A way out of everything that she hated now... A means to an end. A brighter end for her.
Sure she wasn't eighteen yet. but if she just danced... She didn't have to serve alcohol, she didn't have to get fully naked... And it wasn't like they even had to know her real age. She could lie.
"Could you... Maybe show me around?"
Aspen Raen - April 15, 2008 07:42 PM (GMT)
"You're welcome."
Then she asked about dancing and Isabelle's stomach jumped, unsure of how to respond. She wasn't sure what the young girl was thinking, but was she really ready to give up her dignity? She must have been in a spot of trouble if her only way out was to dance.
"You look no more than fifteen or sixteen love. What could a pretty lass like you want with dancing? Why don't you get a real job?"
But immediately as she said it, she regretted it. Who was she to judge? She wasn't the child's mother.
"I'm just not sure you know what you're getting yourself into. They own you, you know? Though, I mean, Jack isn't so bad once you grow on him but he's one of the easy ones. Tell you what, come with me tonight. You can see if for yourself and then maybe you can decide if it's something you really want to put up with. Jack doesn't care about your age as long as you can show some proof. I can help you with that... but I'm not saying I will. I just want you to know what you are asking for, what you'd be giving up."
But better Isabelle show her than someone else. If this girl didn't get what she wanted here, it didn't mean she wouldn't go ahead and do it somewhere else.
"What's your name?"
PushMyButtons - April 15, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
"Own me?" She snorted. "That's the last thing I'm worried about." She looked down with a frown. "My life can't possibly worse, I can tell you that." She said, looking back up. "Please... You have to help me." She asked almost pleadingly.
But Adri smiled as the woman said she could come to the club with her and see what it was all about.
"Giving up? I wouldn't be giving up anything..." She bit her lip, hesitating slightly. "Look... I need to leave home. I really need to get out of there and I don't have anyway out... This is seriously the only bright spot I've found in almost a year of thinking of ways to get out. You have to help me." Her eyes were pleading now as she looked up at the girl.
"I'm Adri by the way... Adrianna... Whichever..." She said with a smile.
Aspen Raen - April 15, 2008 08:03 PM (GMT)
Isabelle frowned. She didn't like the idea at all, but the girl was practically begging her.
"I'm going to show you around, Adrianna, that's it."
Girl's her age were often desperate to get away from her parents. Isabelle wasn't sure if it was more than it look on the outside. Then again, not many would degrade themselves just for a pay check or just to rebel. She took a deep breath in and let it out. If this went the way she thought it would, Adri would need someone to look after her. Not to take care of her, just to watch her back. Did Isabelle want that on her shoulders?
"Let's go."
On the short walk there, Isabelle managed to finish most of her sandwhich. The rest was she put in her locker. But she didn't have time to do anything else before Jack approached her, a panicked look on his face.
"What's it now?" Isabelle frowned.
"One of the new girls got sick. You want to dance tonight?"
"Do I have a choice?"
"Is that really a question?"
Isabelle smiled slightly and shrugged, "Alright." That was when Jack noticed Adrianna.
"Who's this?"
"Possible new girl."
"She looks young."
"Looks aren't everything. Take care of her, show her around until I get off stage, will ya?" she turned to Adri, "You don't mind do you? It shouldn't be long."
PushMyButtons - April 15, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
"Okay... But don't try to stop me if I like it okay?" She might have been young, but she could make up her own mind about things. She needed this. She needed the job, the chance to get away from her family... A brother who raped her... A father who beat her... A mother who ignored her.
But she smiled as they made their way to the club.
The music, smoke and the smell of alcohol hit her hard as she stepped over the threshold. But her eyes only brightened. It might not have been what she was imagining... But it could be everything she needed.
As she heard someone come in behind them she stepped out of the way. After all, no one wanted to talk to her here.
Apparently this was Jack, the owner. She stood off to the side, watching.
She grinned slightly as he said she looked at him. "Uh, just turned eighteen. Always been a little small." She lied easily as he questioned her age. So what if she was barely sixteen... She needed this.
"No... I don't mind. Really don't worry about me." Besides it would give her a chance to explore a bit on her own... Watch how everything went for a little while.
Aspen Raen - April 15, 2008 09:45 PM (GMT)
Isabelle shrugged, "Okay. I won't."
She hadn't intended to do so. She didn't think she could in the first place.
Isabelle changed and headed on stage, leaving Adri to the mercy of Jack. God help her, she hoped he didn't try to flirt with the young girl. Jack was almost forty.
"This is the girl's costume room," Jack told her, "Lockers over here. They each get one. Everything else is self explanatory. This way is back stage."
He gave her a tour of the back stage and showed her how everything worked, how to know where to go, when to go. Gave her names and then he took her on the floor to let her observe from there. He introduced her to the bartenders, showed her a few of his favorite customers so she knew and then left her to do as she pleased.
Isabelle was still dancing on stage, right up front in the middle. She felt partly weird about bringing and underage girl into the club, and then stripping with her in obvious view but it wasn't any different than anyone else really. And she hardly knew her. Besides, it was something she'd get used to if she decided to stay.
Isabelle glanced over at Bethany, a girl a little older than herself serving drinks. Someone was messing with her and she looked distressed. Isabelle called over security and he took care of it. That was one of the problems with this job. The customers were allowed to look and to touch- to some extent and only if it was okay with the dancer/waitress. Of course they often got a smack on the rump or some other minor inappropriate touch, but it came with the territory. But anything else would get a man... or sometimes a woman... banned from the club.
Still a woman working here needed to know how to hold her own just in case. Isabelle wondered if Adri knew any self defense.
PushMyButtons - April 15, 2008 10:03 PM (GMT)
She nodded, smiling with his explanations of the club. It was something she could get used to...
Even as she saw one waitress getting hassled... It was no worse than at home. And here. Here there was protection, there was security, and money. Everything she needed, and nothing of what she had now... She... She could do this for a few months... Save up and maybe see if she could rent out a room from a college kid or something.
Every step in the club she took made her future seem a bit brighter, a bit more hopeful.
If she ran away now... She didn't have a chance. All she would become was a prostitute. As a dancer she didn't have to sell herself like that. She didn't have to humiliate herself anymore.
After the tour she was sitting at a back table watching the dancers, watching how they moved, wondering if she would be able to do something like that.... The men could touch her, it looked like, but only if she wanted them too.
One of the customers that had been with someone Jack had introduced her to came and sat with her, smiling at her. "So... You're thinking about coming here huh?" The young man was in his late twenties or so, enjoying a beer. "You're pretty enough to be here... But are you really the kinda girl who can get a guy hard?" He asked, raising an eyebrow as he tossed back his bottle.
"I think so... Yeah. I mean it's not too hard to get a man hard." She said with a grin, trying to hide her blush.
"Well then let's see what you got baby. Why don't you give me a little dance? We'll see how you do." He said as he sat his beet on the table and patted his lap. But Adri shook her head. "I don't think so... Maybe after I know what I'm doing you can come back and give me a test, how about that?"
"Aww come on. If you're gonna be up there, you gotta be able to do this babe. You gotta be sure of yourself at least." He said, ginning at her. But Adri didn't know what to do.... Should she try to give him a dance? Try and be laughed at? Or should she just refuse... She... She wasn't afraid. She knew she couldn't be. She just didn't know what to do. Or at least what to do dancing wise.
Aspen Raen - April 17, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
Isabelle watched Adri for a moment, growing slightly more at ease as she wondered off by herself to watch. At least Jack would keep an eye on her.
She focused on her work. Not that it needed much attention, but she liked to dance. Even if it was in such a way. Isabelle had never really been ashamed of her work, because she liked to take it as a compliment when men watched her- but perhaps she chose that state of mind because of what she did.
She slid around the pole, crawled over to a man sitting at the foot of her stage so that he could give her a nice tip and then moved away from him again to attend to other customers who slipped more money in her panties.
Then she was done. She headed off stage, placing a robe around her costume so that she could go check on Adri. The girl was so young, Isabelle felt slightly responsible for her already just by bringing her here.
Isabelle headed out to the floor. That's when she spotted the man talking to Adri. He hadn't been there moments before. She couldn't make out what he was saying, but he was a favorite customer of Jack's and hers. He tipped nicely. She approached the two of them.
"Come on babe," she pouted, "Give the girl a break, okay? She needs a little studying first."
She bit down on her lip in a seductive way and pulled Adri away from him. She wasn't sure what was going on, but she didn't want Adrianna to feel pressured. After all, she wasn't even working there yet.
"Let me teach her a few things first and then you can have your way with her," she gave him a wink and the two of them walked away.
"You have to be very careful with some of the men here. They can be very forward and you want to keep them happy, but don't ever let them put you out of your comfort zone. Let's go backstage for now and we can talk okay?"
PushMyButtons - April 17, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Adri blinked slightly as she felt Isabelle behind her. "Huh? Oh, it's alright he wasn't bothering me or anything like that." She said with a smile, it was an honest one, for the first time it was bright and full of life.
The man smiled as he saw her. "Well hell... If she smiles like that when she's dancing... I'd wait for a while." He gave her a little wink as they moved off.
Again, Adri blinked as the woman explained about the men at the club. "Oh, he wasn't bothering me, really. I was actually thinking about just trying my hand at it. I mean it couldn't be too hard could it?" She asked as she looked up at the woman.
She was willing to talk of course, she wanted to know what she would have to do, what she would have to sacrifice to be here. But would it really be a sacrifice? Would it really be any worse than what she had now?
It couldn't possibly be.
Aspen Raen - April 17, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
Isabelle nodded, "Okay, I was just warning you. And I didn't want you to feel uncomfortable. He shouldn't ask that of you anyway- since you aren't officially working here."
Adrianna followed her backstage and Isabelle talked to her while she dressed, having told Jack she was going to take the rest of the night off and when he protested she told him to let one of the other girls dance. She was sure they could use the money. Jack was just picky about how much time each girl got and who got more. He'd get over it.
"It's not so much hard, I suppose. I danced for a long time before I came here, though the dancing is a little... unconventional. If you can move that's all you really need to know, though the girls might have to show you how to work a pole..." she blushed at the term, though she really had no reason too.
"It's not the dancing that's hard though. It's dealing with the exposure. If you think to hard on it, it can be humiliating. But think of it this way... they are watching you because they want to and they are the only ones that have reason to be embarrassed. But everyone has their reasons for coming. They don't judge you, just remember that. And we don't judge them as long as they keep the money rolling in."
Maybe a little blunt, but that's the way it was.
"You just have to make sure you're comfortable in your own skin. And Jack takes care of his girls so long as you take care of him. Just don't let him bully you into anything. If you are afraid to stand up for yourself then you won't last here long."
God, she was talking to her as if this was a sure thing. Isabelle's heart sank. She wasn't so sure about this. Though Adri didn't seem to need to hear any of this. She seemed more than comfortable in her own skin.
PushMyButtons - April 17, 2008 11:46 PM (GMT)
Biting her lip thoughtfully as she listened to the woman, she let the words roll over in her mind. But it kept coming back to one thing... Humiliation. She said it could be humiliating if she thought about it... The hardest part was the exposure...
"I can deal with it, I can." She looked up at the woman, her eyes almost distant and fearful. Silent for a moment she looked down at the floor and then back up. "Don't tell anyone... But I deal with a lot worse at home... I have to get out of there Isabelle. This is the only thing that's even seemed possible." She looked around, as if afraid someone would be listening outside the door.
"My... My brother... And my father... I hate them more than anything. But no one will believe me when I tell them what happens. The beatings... The rapes... I can't live there any more Isabelle. I have to get out of there." She looked up at her hopefully, fearfully.
"Please... Help me Isabelle."
Aspen Raen - April 17, 2008 11:59 PM (GMT)
And then all of a sudden the young girl poured out her story. A shortened version, Isabelle could tell, but she knew the girl wasn't lying. No wonder she was willing to resort to something such as stripping at an underage. Isabelle couldn't possibly tell her no now.
"Alright," she nodded, "I'll help you. I know someone who can get you the items you need to pass as eighteen. And..." She knew she was going to regret this. She didn't even know the girl. Didn't know if she was trustworthy, but her instincts told her she didn't have much to worry about, "You can stay with me, if you need to, until you can make first months rent. Which shouldn't take too long, if you're working in this place."
Isabelle winced. It wasn't that she didn't want to share her space. She didn't mind, but it was a big decision to be making all at once. However, she didn't really mind. It was in her nature to respond in such a way and if the girl continued to live where she was, Isabelle wouldn't be able to forgive herself.
"But I have rules. You need to clean up after yourself and help out. And you have to tell me where you are at when you aren't here or at home. So I don't worry," she added the last part gently. Was she being too trusting? At this point she didn't care.
PushMyButtons - April 18, 2008 02:43 AM (GMT)
Her eyes brightened as the woman said that she would help her. That she would do what she could. She very nearly threw her arms around the woman's neck in gratitude. but thought better of it.
"Uh... No." She shook her head as a place to stay was offered. "I... I mean thank you, but I can't do that... If I leave... That'll only make more problems. They'll come looking for me and if they find me here, well then everyone here will be in trouble too. I couldn't do that." She said frowning. She might not have been book smart, but she knew that would happen.
"If..." Her frown deepened, trying to think of possibilities. She only thought one step at a time, for what was the point to plan ahead if things were going no where.
"If I could get myself emancipated... Then I would be okay... But I dunno how. Or even what that involved really. I could save up enough after a few months... And well... After the past three years I don't think three months will be a problem." She smiled then, a hopeful but sad smile.
"Uh... I don't have a phone... So how will I know when everything's in order?" She asked curiously. The sooner she could get started, the sooner she would be on her own. "And... And maybe you could teach me what I need to know? I mean you said it was just moving... But well, how?"
Aspen Raen - April 18, 2008 05:41 PM (GMT)
Isabelle frowned. The girl had turned the offer down. She could sort of see why, but she wasn't comfortable with the idea.
"Okay..."
Then Adrianna said she didn't have a phone and Isabelle's frown deepened. Of course Isabelle had an extra cell phone. All she'd have to do was activate the line. That would keep them in touch and keep her from worrying.
"I have a phone you can borrow until everything gets set up. If you need it. I have a house phone, so it shouldn't be a problem. But I won't be able to get it to you until tomorrow. As for learning how to move- you have to start out with a basic work out. It can be tiring dancing up there and keeping in shape will help you keep the energy you need to keep going most of the night. And I can help you with that if you want. And I can teach you how to move. At least the basics. Creativity is left up to you.
"I just need the name you want to use, a birthdate, and a photo of you. If you want I can have Bethany grab her digital and we can take care of that now."
PushMyButtons - April 19, 2008 01:11 AM (GMT)
"Really? Oh, that would be nice. I mean... I'd only use it with you, I don't really have friends to talk to anyway." She gave a little shrug. "That's fine. I could just meet you here or something.
"Basic work out? Well I actually do a bit of running... I mean... It's a nice chance just to get away from everything yeah? But... I should be able to use the school gym after school, they have a room there and well, I don't have much weight to loose, but I guess it couldn't hurt to tone..." She more so said for herself. And it wouldn't hurt to quit smoking either. Granted she didn't have any problems now, but she could later, or maybe even sooner.
But...
A thought just occurred to her. If she was getting a face ID... She could get Cigarettes for herself! She didn't have to have her brother get them anymore! A glee filled her eyes as she looked up.
"Uh, yeah that would be great! I mean for the picture and all. And I could come up with a name and well, I don't really even know my real birthday anyway. So yeah."
Aspen Raen - April 19, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
Isabelle couldn't help but share in her enthusiasm, even if it didn't seem a bit wrong to her. But Adri seemed so happy and Isabelle couldn't blame her.
"Fantastic. Wait her and I'll send Bethany in. In the meantime I'm going to go talk to Jack."
Isabelle gave the young girl a reassuring smile and headed back onto the floor, speaking with Jack only briefly about her, telling him most of the details and leaving out a few others that he didn't need to know. And then Isabelle came back.
"You're going to need a physical evaluation, from a doctor and then all things are go," she told Adri, "Jack likes you and that's definitely good. Just watch out for the other girls around her. Keep your things to yourself and always lock your locker. Some of these girls would do anything for a few extra dollars.
"Now that we have your picture, write down your birthday and your name. You probably don't want to use your own. I'll take care of the rest. For now, just meet me where you met me tomorrow night, same time, okay? Do you need a ride home?"
PushMyButtons - April 20, 2008 03:18 AM (GMT)
The girl that Isabelle called came in, quickly adjusting Adri's hair she grinned. "Well, I've made cards for ones younger than you. I'll take care of everything. Don't worry hun. We look out for each other here for the most part." She said with a grin and a wink.
Isabelle came back just after the picture was finished, and Adri frowned slightly.
"A... A physical exam?" She bit her lip. "Like the whole thing or... Or just basics and a blood test and all?" She asked nervously. If she needed to do the whole 'Women's Wellness' exam, they might find things that... That they shouldn't. If they found all the injuries, the scaring...
"I mean... They might just think I'm a typical teenager who's having sex... But... But what if they find out about everything?" But then again... If they confronted her father, he'd just say that she was a tramp and all... And they would probably believe him. They'd just think she was a dirty child who's life wasn't going anywhere.
And even if that might be the case, it was a better nowhere than where she was now.
"I just... I just don't want everyone knowing. I... I only told you so you would understand that this choice is the right thing for me. It's better than anything that I can see in my near future. You know?"
Aspen Raen - April 20, 2008 07:49 PM (GMT)
Isabelle shook her head, her voice soothing as she spoke, "Don't worry love, not that sort of exam. Just a normal physical from a doctor, to make sure you're healthy. Jack doesn't need his girls getting sick or falling over while they are dancing. No one else has to know what you've told me."
Not that Isabelle agreed with that either. She still didn't think this was the best road for Adri. Adri could go and talk to the police, talk to someone about it, but Isabelle wondered if they'd even believe her. She supposed it all depended on the situation, but it was often that men like her father and her brother got away with things like that. At least here she'd be looked after.
The would ask her question at the hospital about whether or not she'd been abused in anyway. Isabelle would rather Adrianna tell the truth, but she knew the girl wouldn't. Even if they did believe her, what would they do to her? Put her in an orphanage? Isabelle didn't like that idea either.
"They'll just take your blood, check your heart and all that stuff and you'll be on your way."

Adri relaxed, almost smiling as Isabelle assured her it was a simple health exam. "Okay. Good. I mean... No one would believe me anyway... And even if they did, I'd just be shipped off somewhere else probably... I... It would only make things worse really. Trust me... I tried." She sighed softly.
"He... Well my father just denied it. He told the Social Service woman that I was hardly ever home and he had no clue what I did while I wasn't home. So well... Yeah. Thanks for not telling anyone. If... If everything works out, I'll be out of there soon anyway." She smiled then, looking up at Isabelle. "Thanks for everything actually."
Finding a piece of paper, Adri thought about what she would want to call herself now... Who she wanted to be. Smiling she scribbled quickly onto the paper and handed it to Isabelle.
Cassandra Lynn Johnson
Birthday 4-14-1990
"How's that? I... Well I've always liked the name Cassandra Lynn... If I ever have a daughter, that's what I want to name her." She said with a smile.

Isabelle took the paper from the girl, glancing at it, before handing it to Bethany.
"It's perfect. Pretty name."
She didn't know what else to say. She couldn't talk the girl out of it. It seemed she had made up her mind. Now all she could do was look out for her.
"Right, well then, I think I'm going to head home. No use staying around this dump. I'll see you tomorrow night?"
[sorry so short]

Talked out of it... no. She saw a brighter future ahead of her now, and she would fight to keep it if she had to.
"Uh yeah... I should probably be heading home too. Got class in the morning and all." She said with a bright smile. But it was obvious that she was worn out by fretful over-excitement. "But yeah. Same time and place tomorrow then?" She verified.
"I mean, I would really really love to start learning what I can as soon as possible." She said eagerly, smiling up at the woman.

Isabelle nodded, "Yes. Tomorrow, same place... but do you think you could come a couple hours earlier?"
Isabelle had the night off that night. And if the girl wanted to learn, Isabelle would teach her. She wasn't entirely comfortable with it- being that her audience was usually male- she was actually a bit nervous.
"Here's my number," she wrote it down quickly, "Call me if you need to cancel."
