Name: Darren Celestine Sasso

Gender: Male

Age: 1582

Apparent Age: 24

Place of Birth: Venezia, Italy

Species: Vampire.

Coven: Amman

Appearance: Darren Celestine Sasso was considered tall for the age in which he was born. At 5’ 11” he towered over most of his family, and for that matter most of the people he met after the age of 17. His skin, hair and eyes matched that of the common appearance in his family, tan skin, very dark brown hair, and brown eyes. His hair and eyes have stayed the same however his sckin has lightened considerably since being changed. He has a taught muscular build, and very erect posture, giving the appearance that he might be a bowstring on the verge of release. His clothing is generally not of consequence, unwilling to draw attention as he is. He occasionally keeps a sword with him, simply for its aesthetic value. It is generally wrapped and concealed, and slung over his back when traveling on foot. Otherwise he is unarmed.

History: Darren was born of a mason and his wife in the year 426 A.D. From an early age he was schooled to follow in his father’s footsteps. He began work with his father in large at the age of fourteen, in the year 440, the same year the current pope, Pope Sixtus III died. The New Pope, Leo I came to power later that year and began commissioning many building projects to honor different patrons of Catholicism. Darren and his family were moved to Rome to be paid as masons for the Holy Church. Darren and his father worked together on many of the building projects for the following nine years. In the year 449 Darren’s father died in an accident while working on a temple. The following year, while on his way home Darren was lured into a trap and fed upon by a vampire of the name Crasius. He barely left Darren alive, so great was his hunger, but at the last second he paused to admire his prey. Crasius saw in Darren the potential to be a great immortal, and thus rebirthed him into the world of dark.
For many years after Darren learned under Crasius the different rules of their kind, their strengths and their weaknesses. He also learned things that only scholars knew, and was taught of the history of the world as only one who has witnessed it first hand can teach. They traveled constantly, in each region they stayed with Crasius’ friends in certain cities. Sometimes with other vampires, others in the presence of humans that Crasius said they could trust. For the next 230 years they continued in this manner, traveling across Europe and Asia, keeping to the edges of society. They fed on animals mainly, but on humans when necessary.
In the year 657 the pair found themselves in the Mountains of Yoshino in the Yamato province of Japan. They traveled to a monastery that was in that location for Crasius was friends with the head monk there. It is here that Darren formally learned to use his new strengths in combat, learning the martial arts that the monks practiced. He trained here for fourteen years, also learning the meditative practices of the monks. During his time there he was also shown what other gifts he possessed. Crasius taught him of his ability to move objects with his thoughts, disappear into shadows around him, and even to seep his will into the minds of others.
In the year 671 Darren was introduced to a man known as Temmu. This man was once the Crown Prince of Japan but had resigned the position for fear that his older brother wanted him dead and had become a monk at the monastery.
In 672 Temmu’s brother died and his son assumed control. Temmu assembled a vast army and began a march against his nephew. Though his master told him it was ill advised Darren went with Temmu and fought with him. His master stayed behind, and before Darren returned had disappeared completely.
Eventually Temmu was victorious and his nephew committed seppuku. Temmu, now the Emporer of all Japan thanked his friend and even offered him a great fiefdom, but Darren declined asking only for a sword forged by the greatest master that Temmu could find. Temmu knew of his friend’s past, and what he was. The Emperor respected his friend’s wise choice and ordered the sword’s creation. It took three months to have the sword created, and when it was finished the Emperor presented it to Darren with the smallest of ceremonies, at Darren’s request.
Darren lived amongst the court of Temmu Feeding on animals and peasants at night until Temmu’s death in 686. Darren had already returned to the monastery to find that his master had all but disappeared, and upon leaving Temmu’s court he began searching for Crasius.
His travels led him to the edges of the known world, where he continued his studies alone. He learned many forms of martial arts, enjoying the discipline that they taught. He learned of many different religions, philosophies, and cultural practices, but he had not yet found his master. As the known world expanded so did his search. In the early fifteen hundreds Darren heard tale of a gathering of vampires into so called covens, and at first he found the idea distasteful. Believing that it was more important to find his master than to worry over vampiric politics he moved his search to North America, The New World, as the people called it.
Many years passed for him in North America, many years of fruitless searching. During these years however he witnessed the covens grow in strength, even in America. He was present in the shadows as the entire island of Roanoke was turned to Vampirism in one night. Believing order was necessary, to prevent entire colonies from disappearing, Darren turned to the Amman Coven that he had heard to be a sort of ‘Police’ for the vampires. In the year 1590, at the age of 1164 Darren Became a member of the Amman Coven.
In the following 400 years as North America developed along its own course Darren watched from the shadows, all the while keeping to the practices of the coven. He did not fool himself that he would not need money in this world of humans, for even as a vampire you have to pay to own land and things. But immortal as he was, he had no trouble waiting patiently as his stockpile grew. By the year 2008 in the city of Demaitre, in Ontario, Canada, Darren had settled into a pretty comfortable lifestyle. He still searched for his master, but not in travel. In this information age he scanned the internet daily for any trace of Crasius.

Note: I didn’t mention it throughout his history, but obviously Darren’s involvement in all things took place at night.
