Title: Killing Yourself to Live
Description: --Middy

95...
115...
139...
Her newest bike for her collection, a Honda RC51 was barely a blur as she sped across the roads outside the major city. She was out for a ride, just to get the hell out of the city.
Adam was gone, Corrigan was gone... She didn't have anything to live for once more. So why would she care if she died. She'd had some really bad wrecks before, why would another one be any different.
Her blond hair was whipping around her face, her eyes stung from the fierce wind despite her riding goggles. The darkness wrapped around her like a cloak as she sped as fast as she could, as if trying to escape everything.
Everything happened so fast, even she didn't see the deer run out in the middle of her lane.
Turning the handlebars ever so slightly to avoid the animal, but the high speed caused her bike to skid out from under her, throwing her wildly into the air only to come crashing down in a tangle of machine and body. How far or how long she skidded around, how many bones were broken, how many cuts and what sort of internal injuries she would have, who knew...
But it was bad...
The pain was overwhelming for once. She couldn't move a single part of her body, as if her neck had been snapped. But she couldn't even move her lips.
Helpless off the side of a quiet highway Jax closed her eyes. No one would find her out here. No one could save her or help her. Yeah... This would be a good death... Wouldn't it? Just another statistic. Another fatality... If they would find her body. Would it simply disintegrate into air? Would she leave a body behind once the sun rose?
No one would miss her, no one would care.
She was feeling weak... As if she was loosing a lot of blood. But she couldn't see, she couldn't move to check herself out. But with the pain that she felt, it must have been pretty damn bad.
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 05:36 AM (GMT)
Darkness. Darkness was all there was next. A quiet sob, the red glow of the draw of a rolled joint, and a small stream of light from a crack in the ceiling.
Corrigan sighed, kicking the limp body next to him as he blew out a ring of smoke. "Shut up," he muttered, glancing from the trembling mortal form at his side to the unconscious form of Jaxon Synclair on his other side. It had been hell to find her.
He took another long drag of his smoke and snuffed it out, standing to move to the door. He could see even in this perfect blackness, see through more than the darkness of the room. He knew what drove her the night before, what drove her to the accident that wasn't really an accident. In his mind it was the only way that he knew to find her. He was somehow connected. He had to know how. She had to wake up.
He unlocked the door and peered out into the corridor of the motel basement. The sun would be down soon. He had stayed up just in case she awoke. But she hadn't. Wouldn't be long now... He hoped. If she didn't wake now, he didn't think she would.
Vixey - August 2, 2007 05:47 AM (GMT)
How... How long had she been out? Where was she?
But everything... The sering pain made her gasp and tense the moment she woke, whimpering in agony. The pain blocked out all other senses, scent, hearing, even her vision was dark.
She tried moving her fingers, and though she could, it was only a seering pain that came back at her.
Jax had survived once more... Survived what would have otherwise been impossible.
Hungry... blood... She... She needed blood. But she was too weak to move, the pain made it near impossible as well. Jaxon tried to open her mouth, tried to call out, but her throat was dry, unable to force the words out.
So in an attempt to reach someone she opened up her mind. She wasn't telepathic, but anyone who could read minds would hear her. "Blood... I... I need blood." She whispered helplessly. "Where am I? Wha... What happened?"
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
As Corrigan closed and locked the door, he heard a gasp and a whimper. With another sigh he dropped his head for a moment, gathering the patience and will to carry through with this. He trudged back toward her and knelt before her withered frame. He cupped her cheek and lifted her head. He shushed her and reached across her lap to the equally crippled mortal at her side. He dragged the young man to her and, with a hand in the his hair, directed the warm flesh to her lips. "Drink."
Vixey - August 2, 2007 06:07 AM (GMT)
There was no response... Verbal or otherwise that told her that someone heard her... Not for a while... She felt her body lifted up slightly, and the whimper of pain grew sharper. It just hurt to do anything.
But as warm flesh was placed at her lips... Oh her body knew what to do. She wanted to hold the limb close, to tear it apart and feast on the blood. But she was barely strong enough to bite into the flesh of the human. She drank the blood needily, hungrily and as voraciously as she could.
The hunger began to subside, but the pain only got worse as that was no longer able to distract her. But now she could talk. She could have the strength to communicate with whoever saved her.
"Who's there?" Her voice was soft and pain filled. "Wha... What happened? Where am I?" She asked again, this time out loud. She had to know... She must have been with a vampire. A vampire would have known to get her blood... Would have kept her out of the sun and out of the hospital.
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 06:21 AM (GMT)
As the life slipped from the man and Jaxon pulled away, Corrigan tossed the body aside and sat before her, his arms crossing atop his knees. "It's me," he told her quietly. He didn't think he needed to say more. He hadn't contacted her in months. Not since he found her and that prat going at it. He couldn't forgive her for it. Yet now he was here, prepared to nurse her back to health. After that, he fancied he would like to strangle the life back out of her, but he doubted he could bring himself to do that.
"You crashed on your bike," he explained slowly. "We are in the dingy basement of a Best Western motel." He could see her face perfectly even though she couldn't see him. Could see the dried blood on her crushed cheek. She'd be recovered in a week or so. "The pain will subside in a little while. I drugged the mortal."
Vixey - August 2, 2007 06:32 AM (GMT)
"Corrigan..." She said with a near gasp, but it was so hard to even open her eyes to look at him. But... Why... How had he found her? Why had he... Why had he saved her?
Jaxon tried to lift her hand, tried to find him, to touch him. She wanted to see him, feel him hold her close again. But... He wouldn't do that for her.
Her entire left side felt like it had simply been crushed, pealed and grated. Jax's right arm didn't feel too bad, but it felt as if her wrist were still broken and her right leg, it was as if her knee were shot.
"I probably look like shit..." She mumbled. "But... Corri. How... Why did you save me? I... I thought you would be happy to see me dead. Unless you're just keeping me here to kill me yourself." Jaxon tried to force a harsh laugh. "I... I'd deserve it though... For what I did to you..." She admitted as she tried to open her eyes.
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 06:39 AM (GMT)
"Shut up," he muttered. "I don't want to talk." He stood again and moved away from her, avoiding her attempted reach. "The drugs will kick in soon. The sun will be down and I'll be back later with more blood." He took the joint from his pocket again and lit it, holding the flame of the lighter close to his face for a moment so that she could see him. And then it was dark again and he was silent.
Vixey - August 2, 2007 06:53 AM (GMT)
Her injuries prevented her from moving any further than she already had to reach him... But he moved away. What else could she expect...
"Corrigan... I'm sorry... I never meant to hurt you." She whispered as he walked away. But slowly the pain of her body dulled to a low thudding pain. Much better than it had been before. Her body demanded sleep, to help her heal her body. And of course she didn't have the energy to fight it off. She wanted to, but withing a few minutes, she was just as unconscious as she has been a few minutes ago.
Had she expected him to forgive her? Of course not... And even less likely would be him saving her. But again, when he left her that night, he wanted her dead. He had been so angry, that she thought she would never see him again. And Jax knew that she couldn't put a pinch of the blame on him. It was all her fault.
Sure he had left, but she should have waited. Maybe by showing her devotion, she could have won his love... But that was all in the past now.
Now, in all that mattered was that she was at his mercy now. Jax lay helpless in a hotel basement, her only lifeline was Corrigan. It was only because of his mercy that she was still alive now. But... Why?
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 07:05 AM (GMT)
When she awoke again, there was a little more light in the room and Corrigan could be seen dragging another crippled mortal to her lap. "Drink," he told her again, not bothering to help her this time. He sat against the wall across the room from her, watching her carefully. This one wasn't drugged as strongly, and her strength should have picked up from her last feeding just enough to assist in her in this one.
There was another at her feet which she could feed from either now or later. He didn't care much. He thought of asking her how she felt, but he didn't wish to speak past those notions and if he knew anything about her, she wouldn't shut up if he began. So he sat there and watched her.
Vixey - August 2, 2007 07:18 AM (GMT)
The scent of blood, the weight on her body that was causing tremendous pain.
It took a great effort on her part along with even more pain. She didn't feed as voraciously as she had before, taking her time instead. Understanding he didn't want to talk, after feeding she crawled over to the far corner of the room, not letting a single grunt of pain escape even though she wanted to whimper.
Once there she lay awkwardly, her legs out stiff and on her back to avoid hurting either shoulder.
If he didn't want to talk... That was fine but... Jax had to know one thing.
"Is my bike okay?" She murmured as she closed her eyes. "I've never been in anything that bad..." It was fine if the bike was obliterated, it was honestly what she expected.
She could feel his eyes on her the whole time... And still she wondered why he had saved her. It... It just didn't make sense. And why was he just watching? Why didn't he say anything but 'shut up' and 'drink'. She knew he was mad, but why wouldn't he even talk to her?
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 07:29 AM (GMT)
"The bike shielded most of the fall," he responded simply.
He stood slowly and walked to the two bodies she left lying on the floor. The one he had placed in her lap was now a corpse. The other lay almost lifeless. He glanced over at her and then lifted the body, taking it for himself. Once drained, he dropped it atop the other and then shuffled toward her.
He sighed and sat beside her. With a very delicate touch, he took her wrist in his hand, gently squeezing the battered limb. "Not broken anymore. You should be only bumps and bruises in a few days. We may be able to move you out of here tomorrow night."
He didn't look at her, but placed her hand back on the floor where it had been. "I don't want to hear your broken promises, Jaxon. You didn't mean any of it when you said it before and I don't want to hear it now." He gazed down at her, his tone final.
"Why did you do it?" he asked eventually.
Vixey - August 2, 2007 07:40 AM (GMT)
So... Her bike was gone then... She had two more... So it wasn't an issue... But still... Damn, that was her newest one.
There was only a slight pain as he squeezed her hand lightly. It was still sore, but had evidently healed a bit with the blood after the rest. She had to look away though as he said he didn't want to hear any broken promises again. But it wasn't like he had kept a lot of his...
"Why? There... It was a deer. I didn't see it in time... I was going to fast." She muttered. But was that the real reason, or what it just an excuse.
"And... It's not like I have anyone who would care if I died. Adam left me... You don't give a damn... I mean, I'm still waiting to hear why you saved me." She did her best to roll on her side away from him, fortunately her right, the least damaged of the sides. "You had every right to let me die, I know that... and I guess a part of me was hoping for that. I mean... It'll probably be only way you'll ever really forgive me, if I'm lucky."
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 07:48 AM (GMT)
Corrigan growled. "You don't ever stop being mellow dramatic do you? Like it would be so ruddy horrible for you to sit back and be grateful for once. Do you want me to leave you here to die?"
"The world is not made to pity you, Jaxon. And yeah, you've lived a pretty fucked up life but get over it. Your life is miserable because you make it that way. If you would get out and do something with yourself you wouldn't be driving out hoping for an accident."
He grew quiet, looking out across the room. "Lie on your back or you're going to make the pain worse," he added gently.
As to her question about why he had come to save her, he didn't really have an answer. He had been on the hunt far from her little self-made roadkill when the whole scene flashed in front of him. "You said my name or.. Thought it when it happened didn't you?"
Vixey - August 2, 2007 08:00 AM (GMT)
"No..." She whispered. "I don't want you to leave me. I never did." She said simply But that was all she said.
No snappy comebacks to how she was the one making her life miserable. Or how she was out looking for an accident. She had been really. Pain, it was the only way she knew she was still alive these days. It was the only thing she still knew how to feel.
She didn't care about the pain, so she simply ignored Corrigan's little note to lie on her back. Pain... Oh well.
She nodded slightly to answer his question though. Yeah, she had thought about him. He had been the last thought she could remember before seeing that deer in the woods. All she wanted was to see him again... Wanted his forgiveness
Her shoulder was starting to hurt, but she took the pain with only a slight gritting of her teeth. She'd be fine. Closing her eyes, Jax gave a slight sigh as she settled in on her shoulder.
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 08:07 AM (GMT)
That was it then. It was her mind that called him to the scene. He had no choice but to follow. He had to see if she were really dead, though he knew in his heart that she was not. Still, he had to see.
"Lay back, Jaxon," he instructed. "Do it, or I'll inject the drug right into your arm this time. I'm not going to warn you again. Don't fight me. Not when you've barely got the strength to stay awake." He put his hand on her shoulder, pulling gently to bring her to lay back. "Please. Don't make this harder than it has to be."
He was quiet. "Do you want me to put you to sleep again? I could easily knock you out until you've healed completely, but you still need to feed."
Vixey - August 2, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
Pain... What did it really matter. Life was pain. It was all she had left.
"Why do you care Corri?" She said without any hint of emotion. "Why do you care if I'm in pain?" Jax winced as he pulled her back. Her eyes flicked over to him. "I've been in pain since the first time you left me. Why didn't you just put me to sleep then? Put me to sleep until you decided to come back..."
That had been the worst pain of any. The worst pain she had ever felt. Knowing love, caring for someone and then having them disappear.
"Wouldn't injecting the drug right to me work the best anyway?" She said simply. "Instead of subjecting them to it and just feeding them to me?" She said as she closed her eyes again. "And you can do that if you want. I really just don't care. After all... You're just going to leave once I'm better right? Maybe it would be best, so I don't get too used to having you around." There was a soft bitterness in her voice as she spoke through teeth clenched in pain.
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 04:36 PM (GMT)
Without a word, Corrigan stood and walked to the door, nearly yanking it off of its hinges. "I'll leave now then, if that's what you prefer." The light that poured in from the hallway was almost blinding and Corrigan put a hand to his forehead to shield his eyes as he looked back at her.
"I don't have to take this from you. If it's pity you want, you're asking it of the wrong person." He took a syringe from his pocket and tossed it to the ground near her.
"I don't want to be here, Jaxon. But you called out when you crashed whether you meant to or not and here I am. Don't test my patience. I will leave you here to die."
Vixey - August 2, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)
"I never wanted you to leave to begin with..." She repeated.
"And I never wanted your pity... I wanted your love, Corrigan. That was all I ever wanted." Twisting her face in pain she pushed herself up to a sitting position. "Please... Stay, I just... I'm just tired of being hurt by you. So... Maybe if we just get everything out of the way... We can say our goodbyes after all this and maybe I'll finally be able to just get on with everything else." She was almost pleading with him. Perhaps if everything finally came out, she wouldn't hurt anymore.
"The reason I didn't see the deer was because I was thinking of you. Remembering the time we first had sex... Remembering the way I felt in your arms. You had to know that I loved you even before that."
She had to lay down again though, and it was just as painful as sitting up had been.
"After all my life of keeping my emotions bottled up..." She gave a harsh laugh. "I think this is even worse." She muttered.
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
"Lay down," he instructed as he listened to her, closing the door again.
He didn't respond immediatly, he merely watched her for a moment. "You didn't know me. You didn't know who I was or what I was about when you went to bed with me. You couldn't have loved me. You loved what I represented: a release."
He stepped toward her slowly and crouched before her. "And that's what you got. You found a release in me and in that chap I found you with. If you loved me, it wouldn't be this way."
He sat before her and picked up the syringe. "I'm not going to say that you are wrong about you feel. I have no right to say that. But I think you really need to consider how it is that you love people and why. We had sex a few times." He shrugged as if to prove his point. "There is more to love than that, Jaxon."
"Now, I've apologized for hurting you on a few occasions. My faults were out on the table. I had no expectations. But you... I can't believe you can talk about my wrong doings without considering your own."
Vixey - August 2, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
"I... I realized my mistake Corrigan... I wanted to apologize since then. I knew I was stupid, I knew I was wrong... I was just... I thought you weren't coming back. I wanted to forget you but I never could."
She turned onto her side again, the more painful side, to curl up against him.
The pain was well worth it. To touch him again, to feel his hands against her skin. "All my life, I just wanted love. And I thought I loved you and I know I want to love you." If he would only give her another chance. Give her anything to prove herself to him. No matter what it was she would do it. She would go through any sort of hell for him...
But he would have to let her first.
She curled up at his knees as he knelt beside her. The pain making her shake ever so slightly as it strained her muscles.
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 09:55 PM (GMT)
With an exasperated sigh, Corrigan pulled her up to rest against his chest as he leaned against the wall. "Damn it, Jaxon. You never thought to believe me when I told you I was going to come back? I meant it."
He brought his arm around her and turned her own arm over. "This may sting a little." He clutched her upper arm tightly and inserted the needly of the syringe into the vein that rose. "It's easier to take it through blood. It doesn't hurt as much." He remembered when he had first used it. It felt like all of his veins were being torn from his body. "It will pass soon."
He withdrew the needle and dropped it to the floor, wrapping his arms around her gently. "I don't want to talk about it anymore tonight. Just rest."
Vixey - August 2, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
She smiled slightly as Corrigan pulled her up against him. It was a lot more comfortable this way truth be told.
"I... I've never had anyone come back who said they were going to. That's why it was hard to believe... I'm sorry." She inhaled sharply as the needle slid into her arm. But the pain subsided as he pulled it out and she relaxed against him. But just as she was relaxing, it was as if her body was on fire, starting from the arm where he had injected the drug.
But it soon spread, burning through her body even worse than the original pain. Her body tensed, shaking with this new unknown pain. "Corrigan..." She whimpered. "Corri... Please, stop it. Make it go away." She began to cry out slightly, her body tensing and relaxing in spasms. drops of blood began to gather at the corners of her eyes, but the didn't fall.
It was as if this drug were burning her from the inside out. as if this were his revenge for what she had done. It would pass soon... But how soon?
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 10:27 PM (GMT)
Corrigan held her very tightly against him as the drug took effect, keeping her still, shushing her. "Give it a moment. A few seconds at best. Then you will grow tired. We'll move you from here tomorrow. Just rest. Shh."
He felt the tension slip from her body as well as consciousness and he sighed. Why was he doing this? He didn't want to be here. This would bring him right back to where they started and he wouldn't stay. He may stay for a while, but not forever.
He moved her out of his arms and placed her gently on the floor. He stood slowly and then moved to tend to the rotting bodies.
When she woke again they were no longer in the basement he had kept her in for the last two nights. Instead, they were in a dimly lit apartment.
Corrigan was in the bathroom, muttering to himself, checking the pulse of the mortal he had laying in the bathtub. If Jaxon didn't wake up soon, the mortal would die and he'd have to go out to find another.
She was in the other room on the couch, still passed out from the sedative he had given her the night before. He had probably given her too much.
Vixey - August 2, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
Indeed, it was only a few more moments that her body burned. And like he told her she felt exhausted. Jaxon passed out against him, the pain in her body gone for the moment letting the weakness overcome her.
Jax didn't know when it was, the net time she woke. And again, she had no clue where. Her eyes fluttered open and for once since the other night, the pain was not unbearable. She was even able to sit up without wanting to scream with pain. So she did.
He was here, somewhere.
"Corrigan?" She called out, not sure where he was.
The lights were almost too bright as she opened her eyes slightly. She tried to stand up, but her legs were still too weak, too painful. So instead of trying to stand she just lay back. He was here though, so he would know she was awake.
She was feeling better though. She could tell that her face, her skin was healed up, but perhaps some of the deeper injuries were still not fully healed. If she had been anything else... She would have been dead. If it wasn't for Corri... She would have been dead...
MidnightSun - August 2, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
"Perfect," he said to himself, hoisting the young man out of the tub and into the living room with him. He smiled softly at her and set the young man on the floor by the couch. "Kill him or his blood will be a waste. I'll be right back." He moved to the bathroom and put a wash cloth under a warm stream of water. When he came back out, he set it on the coffee table and waited. "No drugs this time. He should make you just strong enough not to need them."
Vixey - August 2, 2007 11:19 PM (GMT)
Opening her eyes again she turned, resisting the smile that wanted to appear on her face.
"Yeah... I'm feeling better. Thanks." She said quietly.
She didn't quite have the strength to lift the man, but she was able to move him into a position where she could drink from his wrist. It was as if strength came back to her with every deep draw of blood.
When she was finished the man was still and she truly had the strength to stand. Yeah it hurt, but it felt better to be in on her own two feet. She stretched out slightly before sitting back down.
"So where are we at?" This wasn't his old place... Not the place she remembered.
MidnightSun - August 3, 2007 01:24 AM (GMT)
"My apartment," he told her without straining a bit as he picked the man back up and carried him to the bathroom. "I moved back to France and then back again about a month ago."
He sat on the edge of the coffee table and picked up the rag handing it to her. "Your face is still badly bruised, but you can probably withstand the pain enough to wipe some of the blood off."
Vixey - August 3, 2007 01:38 AM (GMT)
"At this point... I'll be fine..." She said with a sigh as she took the cloth.
"I've been a lot worse off than this before... I might not look as pretty... But now that I can at least move without it hurting too bad... I'll be back to myself in no time." She said as she wiped the damp cloth against her face.
The amount of blood that came from her face startled her. It was quite a lot really... And she hadn't even felt it on her face...
"I should just go home and take a shower maybe..." Jaxon ran a finger through her hair, noting all the dry clumps, the sticky spots in her hair. She had to look like shit...
"Keep a mirror away from me... I can still kinda see my reflection, and right now I don't want to see it." She murmured as she stood up again, tossing the rag back on the table.
It was also the first time she noticed her clothing. the riding jacket she had worn before was gone. Must have been shredded in the crash. That would be why the t-shirt she wore was still intact. Her Jeans though were a lot worse off, torn everywhere and dirty. An oil stain here... A whole part of her left side was torn completely off, her leg bloody and full of fresh healed skin.
Grabbing the rag again Jax wiped the blood from her leg. "God I must have looked like ground hamburger..." She muttered
MidnightSun - August 3, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
"I can get rid of dead Fred if you want to use the bath here. I'm sure I've got a small t-shirt and boxers you can wear. I wouldn't suggest going out looking like you do. This is a rather high class neighborhood. You look like walking death."
He took the rag from her and moved to the bathroom again to rince it. He brought it back to her and sat on the table brushing it against her knee. "Looks like you still have a little bit of healing do to. You shattered your knee completely. It's still rather raw."
He grinned at her hamburger joke. "Hamburger with a face is about right. You should have seen your head. How fast were you going?"
Vixey - August 3, 2007 02:04 AM (GMT)
"No wonder I couldn't move it...." Jax said as she took the rag back from him and continued to clean herself up. "But yeah... It still hurts a bit... I'll be okay to walk home though." She said.
Sinking back into the couch with a sigh, Jax leaned her head back to look up at the ceiling. "Last I saw... One-fourty... Miles per hour of course... Probably going faster when I wiped out though... I don't know. And I lost track of how many times I bounced." She gave him a grin, her old grin from before Henri left. before he left. The one that could take on anything. "You should have taken some pictures..."
"But it seems like one of my ribs is still out of place. Cause it hurts when I twist... But yeah... I got some more to do of course. But I'll be okay. I'm tough like that."
She really didn't care how she went home looking. Who cared what other people thought... But if she borrowed some of his clothing... He'd either come back to get it, or she'd have a permanent reminder of him.
"How did you find me though... What did the scene look like when you got there?"
MidnightSun - August 3, 2007 02:21 AM (GMT)
"Alright you can go home if you wish." He really didn't care much. The sooner she was gone the better. The sooner he could break something and feel better about it.
He raised his eyebrows, "Pictures? Trust me... I don't think you would want to see yourself in that state. Especially if you don't want to see yourself now."
When she asked how he found her, he grew silent. "I was out feeding and I just saw the crash like it was happening right before my eyes. And I had to see if it was real. You looked like your spine had snapped. Like a ragdoll folded in half the wrong way." He smirked. "It was kind of cool to see actually."
Vixey - August 3, 2007 02:36 AM (GMT)
She... She didnt' want to go home... But Jaxon knew she would have to sooner or later. And well... Sooner was usually better.
"Yeah, you're right... Pictures probably wouldn't have been a good idea." She agreed after a second thought.
But Jax did have to admit that the sight of someone folded in half the wrong way... Would havebeen pretty cool to see. Well, she had seen it before, so she knew it was, in a rather... Sadistic way.
"That was probably why I couldn't move, couldn't feel anything. But... I... I'm glad you came Corri." Jax said the last part as she looked down, letting her dirty hair cover her face. But it wasn't like he couldn't feel her emotions anyway. "I'm really glad. And I'm really sorry that I didn't trust you... That I didn't wait." She looked back up at him now, a twinge of hope in her eyes.
"I would do anything to earn your forgiveness. Anything to have a second chance with you. I was willing to give my life to get rid of the pain, but I'd give up so much more to be happy again." She said strongly, to know that she wasn't fooling around anymore.

Corrigan bit his lip so hard that it bled. He looked down at she spoke, wringing his hands. "I don't know, Jaxon. I never will be the type to stick around, you know? And it's not fair of me to expect you to wait. We can't keep doing this. We'll hate each other forever. We got off to a bad start and.. Maybe we'll have closure now."
To be honest, he didn't give a shit about closure, but he could see that she desperately needed it and needed to know that he cared, if not just a little. "I do care for you, Jaxon, I do but... We haven't been right for each other from the start."

"Then... Then why not take me wherever you go? Tell me what I have to do Corrigan." She whispered as she slid forward towards where he was sitting and knelt, laying her head on his knees. "I don't care. If you want me to wait for you... I can, if that's all I can do, I'll do it."
She reached up, running her fingers through his hair almost lovingly. "I'll do anything to be right for you. I'm not going to be happy unless I know I have your love. Never. Not unless you just erase my memory of you." She said simply before she stood again. She ran her fingers through his hair before kissing the top of his head.
"Come to my place, tomorrow night... Please."

"But, Jaxon!" he groaned, "Therein lies the rub! You need me and I can't stand that. I can't be with someone who needs me. I can't have someone dependent on me. And that is all you will ever be."
He gripped her arms tightly, shaking her slightly. "Why do you want this so badly anyway? Don't you understand? I can't be the man who cherishes you and spends eternity with you. I don't even want to be that man."
He sighed. "I'm not saying this to hurt you, Jax, but you need to see the truth for once."
When she invited him over he sighed heavily and leaned back, shutting his eyes. "Are you sure? Is that really want you want? I will come, Jax but... I wont stay."

Jax winced slightly as he seized her arm, her elbow still tender. But she knew he hadn't meant to hurt her.
"I don't know why I want you! If I knew I would tell you Corrigan. But it's just that there's something about you that... That makes me feel comfortable, safe even. I don't want to want you. Not with everything I know you are. I know you'll just leave one day and you might not come back... But Corri..." Jax sat down next to him, close but still not quite touching him.
"I would give anything to hold you when you're here. If I knew that when you were around, you were mine and I was yours. If you were just to call me, let you know you were coming back, I would put everything else on hold." Didn't he see that she didn't care? Jaxon was willing to take anything that he would give.
"And even if you're not the man who can just settle down and be with me... That's fine. But could you stick around until he comes alone maybe?" She said with a little smile.

Corrigan sighed heavily, his head hanging for a moment while he messaged his temples. Women were so difficult. "Alright," he conceeded finally, lifting his head to look at her. "I don't want to hear anymore about me using you or any of that bullshit because that's pretty much what you're asking me to do, do you know that?"
He looked her over. She really was a mess. "What do you say we get you into the bath and get you cleaned up?"
Vixey - August 5, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
"You won't... I was... I was just upset I didn't know when you would be coming back, and it had been so long without any word from you." Jax smiled, nearly whispering as she spoke. "Would it be too much for you just to keep in contact? A letter, a phone call... Something?" she asked as she leaned against him slightly. "Nothing special, just what you're up to, when you'll be back. Not asking for a novel, asking you to tell me how much you love me and miss me and wish I was rocking your world." Jason couldn't help but grin. "I'm not asking for anything special..."
She was silent for a few moments, but then gave a sigh as she sat back away from him.
"Yeah, I know I'm a mess... But I'll be alright for now. I guess... A shower's safe though... You won't have to worry about me jumping you or anything... Woo damn sore for it..." she muttered, sighing at the end.

"It had been a month," he said, correcting her, helping her to stand. "I suppose I could have called." He had never given her his cell phone number or permenanty address, though he was never there. "I'll keep that in mind." He told her he walked her to the bathroom.
As they stepped inside, he moved to lift the corpse out of the empty bath. "I'll be right back," he said, carrying it with him as he went to a spare bedroom. He'd deal with it later.
He came back to the bathroom and watched her carefully. "Do you need any help?"
(drunken post.. recognise!)
