Title: Overdue reunion
Description: For Chi

Neutral_George - July 15, 2007 02:37 AM (GMT)
He sat in his oversized chair with his head laying in the palm of the hand that rested on the arm of the chair while suspending the glass of wine he held in his other hand with his fingertips over the edge of the other side of the chair.

Speaking aloud to the other vampire that sat in the room he said, “Perhaps it is time, after all of these centuries, perhaps it is time.”

The voice from the other side of the room simply said, “Perhaps it is master.” Light flooded into the room as the door the other vampire stood by opened, “Will you need anything else.” Thefarie said no and sent the vampire from the room.

Setting the glass down onto the table next to the chair, he sat up in his chair and began to breathe calming his mind and stepping into the telepathic ether. It had been a day since his maker had reached out to him and to his dismay and shock; he closed his mind to her so suddenly it must have felt like slamming an iron door on her.

He found his mind looking into an apartment, sensed her sitting quietly reflecting on her own thoughts, and sensed the young vampire Max was also present in the next room. Good that meant that her reaching out to him was not an accident, but in response the belt finding its way back home sooner than he expected.

Leveraging the connection he had not used for over two millennia he simple said, “Goddess forgive me.”

Pandora Lorrain - July 15, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
Chi sat down on the couch and despite the fact that her mind was in turmoil, he face and posture did not betray her tenseness. Only one thing would betray her feeling and that was the weapons that she had collected over time that was strewn across the room, on the wall. They twitched on their shelf as if someone was holding them. She was trying to calm down and control her power to release the weapons, but she was so hurt and that hurt had transformed into anger. She had to release the anger and the emotions.

So there she was, sitting on the couch, her mind empty and blank, trying to clear everything out, perhaps even forgetting the encounter, it would be easier for her. Who was she kidding? Forgetting the encounter implied forgetting him and that was like forgetting who she was. She couldn't do that, one thing she could do was to separate the emotions and the event.

It was at that time, with her mind open and responsive to anything that Thefarie came to her. She was so startled that she almost fell off the couch, she was surprised that he would reach out so soon after he had slammed a door in her face basically. She seemed to hesitate momentarily not sure of what to do, she then answered to him. As well as you should be asking for forgiveness. That was all she said, but she wasn't ready to forgive him yet. She was so upset with him.

Neutral_George - July 15, 2007 03:25 AM (GMT)
The silence between them was evident as Thefarie sat there trying to figure out what to say to his maker who sat on her couch seething with an anger that would take more than words between two minds to overcome.

He allowed some of his psychic defense down allowing the pain of his emotion through to her, pain clearly defined by the void of her in his life. However, they had not been together long it was life changing and eternal for him. She was more than a maker, his goddess; she was, at least to him, a true love.

Finally, he said, “Perhaps we should meet. Do you know where the museum is?”

Pandora Lorrain - July 15, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
Chi's own defenses had already been down and the pain of two millennium alone and no one that had connected as well as she had with him had made the loneliness that much worse. She had loved him and when she had lost him, she had lost a part of herself. It truly had been that bad and it had made her refuse to have another fledgling again.

She could feel the emotions that went through him and she felt bad for him, but only momentarily. He could have tried to find her whenever, she had honestly thought him dead for the last 2 millennia and it was no fault of hers that she hadn't tried. She had thought him dead, it was like a part of her were gone.

Chi hesitated, she knew where the museum was and had spent a few nights there, remembering the past. Yes. I shall meet you there. There was nothing to say she got up and looked at Max. "You are welcome to stay here if you like, but i'm going to the museum." With that she stepped onto the balcony.

Neutral_George - July 15, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
Thefarie stood up from his chair, after grabbing his jacket and overcoat made his way outside, and looked up at the moon and stars that took him back to that evening they stepped out from the cave after the week of his making.

Walking the streets of Demaitre, he was lost in thought as he reflected on the past. He was no longer her fledgling, but he still thought of her as his maker and if nothing else, he respected that fact. Soon the lights of the museum illuminated the sidewalk as he neared.

He could sense that she was near, as he was sure she could. Reaching out with his mind, he reconnected the link creating a sort of GPS system between them so that she could find him exactly within the walls of the museum.

Thefarie made his way easily in and stood in front of the display he donated recently in the Etruscan/Roman exhibit. Behind him on the wall was a display of his armor, helm, shield, sword and spear that he carried all of those years ago. They wore well the scars of time.

He stood there in front of the exhibit he is features shadowed by the soft lights as he waited.

Pandora Lorrain - July 15, 2007 04:18 AM (GMT)
Chi waited a little longer and then launched herself off one of the balconies of her penthouse. She flew a bit and landed in a shadow of a side alley, near the museum. She felt the connection to him immediately. she knew exactly where he was and she didn't know how to act or more what they were going to talk about after being apart for so long. It would simply have to see.

She walked inside disregarding everyone and walking with a purpose. Her hair was long and still silver in color. She had done her hair in a single braid, straight down her back and it made her look older than she was. She wore a black skirt with silver specs in it, one of her own creations. Her shirt was blood red and emphasized her dark color eyes, she hadn't changed all that much, yet was dressed for her time.

She looked around as she walked in and knew instantly where he was, her minds eye coming in on him. She walked to him and looked at the exhibit. "Thefarie." That was all she said, he had eternity to explain himself, literally.

Neutral_George - July 15, 2007 04:37 AM (GMT)
He smiled and looked at her with soft eyes.

“It is good to see you, Chi.” He paused, standing there in his goldenrod business suit and brown overcoat. He had obviously adapted to the era as well, in stark contrast to the era that he was born.

In the minutes of silence that passed while they examined each other attempting to find the words or even the next possible step to take he struggled to move. It still did not seem real; he never truly thought this moment would ever come.

Finally all he could say is, “I am glad you survived, how have you been?”

Pandora Lorrain - July 15, 2007 04:52 AM (GMT)
Chi looked at him and could see that he hadn't changed, still as handsome as the day he had been turned and he had adapted quite well to the era. While he seemed to have wanted to fit in the business world she had opted for the teenage world. She fit more easily in that world and was more at home in it.

She raised an eyebrow at his question. "Did you expect to see me up and die? Don't be ridiculous, as a mortal, vampires strive to survive, of course i would survive after all these years. I have powers at my disposal that enable me to do that."

She watched him over carefully. "I could have spent the last two millennia without the pain of losing you, but besides that, my life has been simply delightful." Sarcastic any? Oh yes, she never had enjoyed pain, and she had spent two thousand years with such pain, though a week ago the pain had been almost gone, now it was as fresh as if he had died yesterday, well if you could call what happened to him dying in a fire, because apparently he was well and alive. Annoyed? Nope, pissed off and frustrated? Yes.

Neutral_George - July 15, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
It was clear she was upset. He attempted to begin where it left off.

“I fell through the fire crashing through the debris and even further through the earth, finding myself trapped in a cavern that collapsed in on itself and me deep below the earth when I fell through the cellar followed by the weight of the inn. It took me nearly a decade to free myself. I looked for you, but it was clear you had moved on.”

As he spoke, he shared with her the memories of his ordeal in the darkness with nothing to feed on except for the occasional animal that passed his way. She could feel the searing pain of the flames, the crushing weight of the earth that collapsed on him and the disorienting fear of the continual darkness, a darkness that seemed have no end.

After that, I took to living my life. I would catch rumors now and then of a silver haired woman that matched your description, but they never true or I was too late by the time I crossed the distances that separated us, you had moved on.

It was not until I heard about this city did I realize where you might be. I know my actions seem contrary, but there are things going on that distracted me from reaching out to you.

Pandora Lorrain - July 15, 2007 05:28 AM (GMT)
Chi looked him over and her entire face took on a pain expression. "I thought you were dead and despite my fear of fire, I tried to throw myself back into the inn to save you. Mortals stopped me from probably going to my death. I thought you were gone, i couldn't feel you at the end of the link we shared and it was like a part of me had died. Which is why I left Egypt so soon after."

She went deeper into the display and rose an eyebrow. "This yours." It wasn't quite a question, but more of a statement. She walked though the exhibit, her eyes missing nothing and catching everything. She was now seriously considering investing in an exhibit herself. She had a lot of items from different time frames. Perhaps she could try perhaps a weapon exhibit. It was something to consider

She half turned her head. "So no that we know how I've been, how have you been?"

Neutral_George - July 21, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
He turned around and walked up stopping besides her looking at the display.

With a sigh, he said, “Yeah, I donated it a few months ago. Don’t know why I kept it all of these years, but it just didn’t seem right to discard it.”

They stood there for quite a while, trapped in the silence. What was there to say? Neither of them really did anything wrong, but it felt that way. They had both come to live very different lives. Most obvious though was that such a short time together had such an eternal hold over them, guiding their lives through time.

“I am sorry that you were not able to bring yourself to sire another fledgling. I have come to find that it bring a great sense of satisfaction and joy as the sire. However, I have to note that my experiences are a direct result of trying to live up to the standard you set as my sire. It was my yardstick, my guidebook if you will.”

Pandora Lorrain - July 22, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
Chi didn't turn to him and continued to look at what he had accumulated throughout the years. There were many items that caught her interest but she continued on. "You were keeping them for the future, keeping them to teach to mortals today about the past." She turned to him. "I've learned that time repeats itself. Only from knowing the past or living in it do we understand the future and don't repeat the past's mistakes. Of course mortals are oblivious to it all and repeat the mistakes over and over again."

Chi didn't turn her face away from his. "I couldn't bring another into this life, not when I knew what it felt like to feel them die. It feels like a part of you is ripped out, like your heart is being cut to shreds. I didn't want to go through that pain again. One was more than enough." She then turned away from him to stare at the nearest display.

She was hurt and there was no way that it was his fault, but it wasn't hers. It was a confusing thing and so much time had passed.

Neutral_George - July 28, 2007 03:15 AM (GMT)
Her back to him he looked at her for a moment, returned his attention back to the display in front of him, and then back to her.

Why was this so difficult? He asked himself this question in the face of the fact that this reunion should truly be a happy event. Maybe they had gone to long apart, despite their bond.

Suddenly with determination, he turned and stepped up to Chi and wrapped his arms around her. “I have missed you so my goddess, my lover, my friend and sire. What was will not be again, but we have been given a second chance should we not take it?”

He opened his mind to her.

Pandora Lorrain - July 28, 2007 03:35 AM (GMT)
Chi was upset, it had hurt her so much to have someone that was a part of her blood and a clear part of her soul. A part of her wanted to keep him at bay and punish him, she could hold a grudge for a long time.

When he wrapped his arms around her though, all thoughts of punishment and keeping him at bay melted away. She had missed him and had wanted him close for such a long time that she couldn't push him away. She melted into him, simply melted. This was the way that it was supposed to be. She then nodded. "Alright, let's give us a second chance."

Neutral_George - July 28, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
He took her hand and lifted it to his lips and turning it kissed her palm, “I would like that,” he said.

Stepping around her, he took her hand and led her away from the display walking towards the cultural room. They walked quietly their footfalls silent from years of practice. As they entered the room, he looked around and said, pointing, “That era is where we met. I think it would be interesting to try to walk through time together.”

They stood in front of the plaque discussing the establishment of Rome. “Do you remember the goddess who warned me off of raiding that woman’s tomb? Is she still around?”

Pandora Lorrain - August 5, 2007 01:50 AM (GMT)
Chi's dark eyes caught every movement he did and understood the significance of what he did. There was a deeper connection between then there were between other people, the connection of a time far removed from the one they lived in. A connection that only a sire and a fledgling could share, but it was more than simply that.

She followed him, her eyes curious to see the display in a time where she had lived and where she had grown up in, if only for a while. Then again she had grown up a little bit everywhere only for a while, so she was more a mixture of culture then a representation of only one culture.

She nodded and smiled at the remark. "Yes that goddess you met all those centuries ago still exist. Though I have changed a part of me is still that goddess and there is a part that still acts that way." It was a childish side of her that loved to flaunt her power, yet she used it only for good.

Neutral_George - August 14, 2007 02:55 AM (GMT)
He wandered with her though time, sharing his adventures and misadventures with her.

Thefarie spoke of the fact that despite the fact that he had become a vampire he found himself falling back in the old ways in the service of various armies, becoming a champion from time to time. Walking her down the path of his time without her, he would take pause to hear what she had done during the same time and indeed discover that throughout the centuries they had indeed just missed each other by mere months, sometimes weeks at times.

Smiling, he suggested that perhaps they should take this conversation to another location.

Pandora Lorrain - August 14, 2007 03:04 AM (GMT)
Chi listened to his life with interest, like her own they had experimented in different aspects of life. She had often portrayed a young courtesan, yet she never got too close to any aspect that could bring her out during the day. A few times because of her nightly hours, she had been seen as a witch. Never aging, never seen outside, only reason why she kept moving around.

To his suggestion, she nodded. "Of course, any place in mind?" She wanted to see where he lived, what he had done with the riches that a vampire usually managed to accumulate. Of course if he had another place in mind besides his own, she would follow. She was always curious and it was only thanks to her powers that she usually escaped rough situations.

Neutral_George - August 16, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
Thefarie put her arm into his and smiled and stepping forward led her from the museum and onto the street. The moon hung high in the sky reminding them of old times.

He led her down the street looking into her face remembering this feeling. His emotions and thoughts flowed freely to her, words were not required, but everything understood.

After about an hour, they came upon a historical building that was under renovation, one of the old original mansions of Demaitre. Leading her to a side door he pulled out a key and unlocked it, “after you,” is all he said.

Stepping inside he locked the door behind him and turned around to see another vampire, much younger than either of them, but no fledgling himself standing there in the far off doorway. The vampire was a dark ebon in colors that wore a high thread count suit, tie, and spoke still with a hint of an old accent. “Welcome home Thefarie and I presume Mistress Chyou Feng Min.” He walked up, took Thefarie’s overcoat, and led the way into the archway that he came from.

Thefarie offered to take any articles that Chi did not want and led her into the depths of the building. “I recently purchased this home. Preserving history, anyone’s history has become a passion of mine as of late. As you know, once something is lost you do not always get a second chance.”

They came upon an elevator that obviously was of a more modern design, but disguised in the décor of the period of the home. Stepping in, the yet unnamed vampire pushed the button and they rose to the top of the building to a flat remodeled out of the old attics.

“This is my private space,” he said as a small surge of power left him igniting dozens of oil lamps throughout the surfaces of the room and a dozen gas lamps that lined the walls. “Like you I have picked up a mastery of the elements, but as you can see the fates chose fire for me that night of my baptism in flame, I also got a bit of earth in me. That is how I came to find that nice fellow Max who I had bring you back your belt.”

“Would you care for something to drink?”

Pandora Lorrain - August 16, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
Chi followed and looked at the way they were going, memorizing everything and looking around. Her lit on the mansion. "It's beautiful." Despite the old building and the renovations that were being done, she could see the beauty in it. She stepped inside and immediately saw the other vampire. She turned back to Thefarie, an eyebrow raised. And this is?

She followed Thefarie quietly up in the elevator and opened her eyes wide at the display of power, the fire side anyway. "As long as you don't point that pyrokinesis towards me, I won't complain, you know that i don't like fire." Not liking it was an understatement, she hated it and feared it. She was glad that she controlled air, she could snuff it out easily.

She nodded. "Something sweet if you have it, maybe rum and coke." She didn't know if he had it, but something sweet would ease her. She had a soft spot for that kind of thing.

Neutral_George - September 11, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
Thefarie moved over to the bar and began to mix her drink. Drinking is something that he appreciated doing even though it became obvious very soon into his vampirism that the alcohol no longer had its effect, but he loved to experiment and appreciate the flavors that had evolved in mycology over the centuries.

Pouring himself straight vodka, he walked the drinks over to where Chi was standing, next to an oversized couch and handed her the drink. She had come to settle in front of several hand painted portraits of an Asian woman with silver hair. “I took up painting a while back, but even today I am still nothing more than an experienced novice.”

Taking a sip, he sat down into the couch.

Pandora Lorrain - September 11, 2007 03:14 PM (GMT)
Chi had stood there for a while, knowing that the paintings were of her, but she could see the flaws in them. She couldn't paint so it wasn't up to her to point them out, but he wasn't all that bad. There were some differences, but of course most of them would have been painted from a memory and one so long ago. The resemblance was still there and that showed something.

She took her drink from him and took a sip. This was going to make everything better. Alcohol had rarely had any effect on her, but she liked that taste of it. She wondered what it would have done to her. The only alcohol she had had as a young vampire was a kind of sacramental wine and it had nothing of the effects that the mortals showed today.

She sat down next to him, her legs tucked underneath her, facing him. "They're beautiful." After taking another sip, she looked him over. "Tell me about your fledglings." Amusement curled at her lips, after a moment she asked a question. "Should I be worried about any of them?"

Neutral_George - September 12, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
“Thank you,” he said in reply to her compliment.

Taking a drink, he digested her question and wondered why she thought she might need to be worried about any of them.

“Well in total I have only created three fledglings in all of my time as a vampire. The first one Antonius was a warrior like me when Rome was on its decline. I had returned to see what had become of my chosen city after all hell had broken loose and cultivated a relationship with the young man. I am actually quite proud of him last I heard he had been accepted to serve the estate of the Father according to his letter all of those years ago, I suppose he is still there. My second fledgling’s name was Cari-athor. She died at the hands of a crowd that discovered what she was. As I understood it, she was careless in her feeding and fear turned to anger. I suppose that it could have been me all of those years ago the night of the fire had I been seen, a reinforced lesson I assure you.”

Taking another drink, he paused, “my third fledgling is still alive and in the city, but I did not have the opportunity to guide him due to the circumstances of his turning. You know him; he gave you back your belt.”

Pandora Lorrain - September 12, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
Chi listened attentively and felt sorry for the young woman that had died simply because of what she was. Vampires had to always be careful and sometimes the ones that loved risk didn't quite obey all the rules. It was a pity in many cases and unfortunately it often happened that young vampires lost control and was caught by a crowd.

She gaped at him. "Does he know, that you are his sire?" Something kept niggling the back of her mind. When she had meant Max, it was almost like Max had been on a quest of some sort. Looking for something and he had found it or almost. "You should remedy to that. I don't like when fledglings are left without proper guidance." She looked at him pointedly, her look disapproving.

Neutral_George - September 13, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
He nodded in agreement. “I realize that Chi, but the circumstances of his turning were so unfortunate and I was seriously wounded from a battle when I came across him.”

Sipping his drink, “The problem with just telling him is he is consumed with my, his sire, destruction even at his own cost and I can’t have that. I have watched him and over him for the last year and he seems to take to the life better every month, he is an adaptable one at that, but the way his vampirism manifested itself leaves me worried.”

Standing up after putting his drink down on the coffee table, he walked over to a bookshelf, picked up a very old hand written tome, and returned to the couch.

“His duplicity and defined natures between man and beast has been seen before in a turning but is a very rare thing indeed. I have written to Antonius to see what he can find out about his situation and will hopefully have word soon.” Leaning back into the couch, “I believe it best to mentor him as a friend for now, to act as the sire without triggering the emotion he carries for now.”

Pandora Lorrain - September 13, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
Chi sighed, all breath leaving her body and didn't inhale again. She looked at him. "I suppose that you are right, it would make sense. Do you want any help?" She was more than willing to offer that. She had often helped other young vampires, even if they weren't her own. She had loved to take care of others and she wanted to help Thefarie and Max, if they needed the help.

Chi watched him, even if she wasn't the mentor that she had been for him in the past, she was still his sire and still harbored the deep emotion that they had shared all those centuries ago. She was simply better at hiding now then back then. "Well hopefully he would come to accept you as his sire, it would be such a lost to lose your fledgling. He's a good one." She could tell, her telepathy also held empathy and she could tell ones personality from a glance.

Her eyes were drawn towards the book. "So what's this?" She loved to read and she curious as to where he had found such an old book.

Neutral_George - September 14, 2007 12:41 AM (GMT)
He handed the ancient manuscript over to Chi. “It is a journal of sorts, one of many, from a vampire that has long since past but was even older than you.”

Pointing his finger on the page he was referencing, he singled out a drawing of a bestial creature and the ancient language described the condition. “He was a kind of doctor you could say trying to understand what we were. In truth if he was born today he would have pursued very heavily medicine and anthropology.”

Pandora Lorrain - September 14, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
Chi took it from him and held it gently. It was something to be venerated and she held it. It was so very old and written by someone that had theorized. Like all mortals and vampires tended to do. It was like a Darwinian for vampires. It would be fascinating to read. See his point of view and see if his conclusions still applied to every day.

She looked at the writing and frowned. It looked similar to something that she had seen and somewhat learned, but she couldn't read it. some words were familiar. "How did you find this and how long ago was it written?" It truly was fascinating.

Neutral_George - September 17, 2007 01:35 AM (GMT)
His eyes seem to drift off to another time, which is exactly what they were doing.

Leaning forward he looked into her eyes, “After the fire I made why way from the wreckage. Lost and hungry I began to hunt at great risk to myself. As we have discussed this was a classic mistake, in fact the only reason I didn’t die like my fledgling was my luck held out and I was knocked unconscious by another vampire.”

Taking a drink, “when I woke up I felt nourished for some reason and found my self in a nice dry, well kept lair of the vampire that had knocked me out. It turned out Loathos, that was what he called himself, was an ancient who had come to the fertile valley when early man began to settle it. The long and the short of the story is I studied under him in for three centuries learning the basics of my elemental power and the lineage of our people. When he died nearly a thousand years ago, his possessions passed onto me delivered by the humans who served him.

Pandora Lorrain - September 17, 2007 03:05 PM (GMT)
Chi had brought the cup to her lips, but she paused. Her eyes flickered towards his face. "Lucky you." It came out as a soft whisper and she then took a drink out of her cup. She listened to him, her mind caught up in the world that he spun. Images flashed through her mind. She wasn't sure if they were his or ones that she was creating or even remembering, but she was very curious.

She let out a soft sigh. The vampire that had taken care of her fledgling was dead. She would have had loved to thank him, for everything he had done. To raise her fledgling and made him into something she was so proud of. She lifted the book. "What else did you get from him, besides this book?" Curiosity was a strong emotion, one that always made her ask more. An older vampire had left him things, items that she would barely recognize if even recognize them at all.

Neutral_George - September 23, 2007 12:33 AM (GMT)
Thefarie gestured his head towards the ornate cabinet he had pulled the book in her lap. Many scroll tubes and other protective casings lined the shelves. He made no motion to get up to get her anything, nor was there any indication that he would stop her from going through it.

“Loathos, like I told you, was a vampire who had evolved into one that was looking to understand his world and what he was and that led to the collection of much knowledge. I only have a part of his collection, the rest spread between two other of his actual fledglings.”

Then with a an almost shock on his face he that he did not remember the obvious he stood up with some energy and walked around a corner into a closet and came back out with a large wooden chest.

Sitting it down on the ground in front of Chi, he said, “I can not believe that I forgot this I have had is so long.” He stepped back hiding the secret of the chest in his mind, “He took me around the world and we participated in a dig outside of a city called Cishan, maybe you have heard of it. Anyway, what we found made me think of you instantly.”

Inside the box lay a worn idol of an old deity. When she laid her eyes on the granite idol in the velvet lined chest he continued, “They called her the Goddess of Earth, I think they said it was dated at no less than 4000 BC. It is funny that I should find the Goddess of Earth and think instantly of my Goddess of the moon. Anyway she reminded me of you and I would like you to have it.”

Pandora Lorrain - September 24, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
Chi had no interest in the scrolls that lined the cabinet. Not now anyways, there was time for that later, right now all she wanted to do was listen to Thefarie, he had much to tell her and she was very ready to listen. She did glance at the scrolls and wondered what secrets they held, but for the moment pushed that thought from her mind.

Chi watched him with a look of confusion as he looked rather startled. She wondered what could have brought that emotion out of him and she followed him with her eyes. He returned with a large chest and placed directly in front of her. She wasn't going to go pry in his mind to figure out what it was, she figured that she would eventually find out. He had brought it out for a reason.

The name of the city brought back a memory of a time that she had almost forgotten. Her childhood, of course there had been no cities in her time, but there was now a city close to what had been home. Amusement flickered through her mind. Home, what could a 6000 year old vampire call home?

Amusement died as her eyes saw the idol. If she had been mortal she would have blanched and been on the verge of passing out. As it was she had one hand on her mouth and the other placed on her chest. She hadn't seen that idol in almost five thousand years. The fact that she had it after all those years was..there were no words to describe it.

Her hands shook as she reached out to it and she slowly, carefully pulled it out of its chest. Once she got a good look at it, memories of her time at the temple swarmed her. The foremost memory was the first time that she had seen the idol that she now held, she had been a young child, but had seen it and had understood who it was.

She placed the idol in her lap and with one hand caressed the face. Her eyes were filled with tears. "Do you have any idea of the gift you have given me? You gave me a piece of home and a piece of my sire back."

Thefarie sat down and simply whispered, “I do.” He said nothing more but through the strong emotions that she was experiencing she could clearly see that he was somehow in the possession of knowledge about his sire.

After Loathos took me, in I described you, my sire, it was clear that this ancient knew of the silver haired vampire by reputation and had traveled many of the same lands she had. When he departed from his mentor, he had taken this idol as a way to stay connected to her. The old painting on the walls had confirmed it was Chi.

“Tell me more about that woman.”

He thought he understood, but he didn't. He couldn't grasp the knowledge, the emotions that were coursing through her. It was like she was back at the Temple were she had spent most of her childhood days, most of her days as a young vampire. She had been worshiped as the maiden of the mother Earth. She had represented the moon and everything it had stood for back then.

She stood with the idol still in hand. She went to an empty spot in the middle of his living room and something shimmered into place. It was a pedestal of sorts and delicately Chi placed the Mother Earth on it. To Chi that would always be her Goddess. Some of her best memories was of the temple in the rock, with what she considered were her friends. No that wasn't right, they were her sisters.

She sat back down on the couch and when she spoke it was in a soft voice. "She was beautiful and exotic for someone so far East. She had long blond hair and crystal blue eyes. Once I started to travel, I understood that she was Scandinavian and was simply the norm in her home. She was powerful and had this aura, that I now recognize as a vampire's aura. You wanted to be around her, she was simply amazing." Chi let out a soft sigh. Before she would have hardly remembered those memories, but the statue of a Goddess that she had worshiped, since she had understood what that word meant, brought memories flooding back.

She looked at the statue that stood there motionless and smiled. "There are so many stories that surround her and some have been modified to fit other religions." She returned her dark eyes to Thefarie. "Would you like to hear one?"

Thefarie sat deep back into his chair with a smile. It was pleasant to see that he had achieved his goal of touching his ancient sire who had observed through Max’s eyes over the last few weeks before making contact with her, so despondent and lacking in life.

Now she sat there with new vigor living in two times simultaneously and wishing to share this past. He had studied the legends of the area with his mentor; excited to see how they matched up with someone who possessed first hand knowledge of the being behind the idol.

Smiling he said, “Of course I would like to hear about her. I hunger to understand all I can about you and what made you, you my love.”

No sooner did the words leave his mouth than he realized he had subconsciously let his hidden affections for his sire slip up. He hoped that she would not notice, but was not so naïve as to believe his wish.

“Please tell me about her.”

Chi hadn't felt this alive in years, in decades, in centuries. It was like...there was no word to describe the way she felt. She was remembering things that she had forgotten so long ago, pieces of her life as a novice and as second to the hight priestess. She remembered the pain of losing her virginity, being turned moments afterwards and draining the man that had taken her virginity. At first it hadn't made sense to her, but over the years following the act, it had made sense.

She glanced up to him as he spoke and lifted an eyebrow. Had he just called her his love? She frowned thinking it over and shrugged her shoulders. She would return to that later, right now it was time to tell how the Earth had came to be. "A long time ago, before the sun, the moon and the stars, there was only one entity called the Dark Mother. She was always lonely and had no one to share the darkness of the universe with. To see if perhaps she could see someone, she traveled everywhere and one day met the sun. As any two beings that were alone, they shared the darkness and fell in love. The dark mother was happy and gave birth to a multitude of sons and the covered the sky, shining as brightly as their father."

She let a soft smile. "Both of them wanted a daughter and eventually she gave birth to a daughter, but the child was dead upon arrival. The dark mother mourned for her daughter, as she held her close to her, refusing the sun to even take a look at her. After time, she eventually relented and passed her daughter onto the sun and in his arms, she bloomed. Coming to life before both of their very eyes. The mother shed tears and the first came to life. That was the way to moon was born."

She smiled again. "That's one of the version, the one I prefer." She shifted to turn to him, not missing a beat. "So when you called me, 'my love' what were you saying exactly?" She simply wanted to make sure.

Uncomfortable with the situation Thefarie attempted to gloss over the statement, “Pardon me, it was a slip of the tongue.”

Taking a drink to put a large pause in place he returned his gaze towards the idol and then looked back to his sire. “I enjoyed that story, I wish I could have heard it a couple of millennia ago during the time that was stolen from us.”

Suddenly the unnamed vampire from earlier was standing in the edge of the doorway with Thefarie’s overcoat in hand. Turning his head towards the vampire he said, “Oh yes, thank you.”

Standing up he put his arms out and the coat his aide slipped the coat on over his suit. Looking down at Chi, he held out a hand, “May I walk you home the sun will be up soon and I still have a matter of business to attend to before the sun rises.”

As he spoke these words, a rather sturdy and unique walking stick, the handle, encrusted with precious metals and gems, was placed into his other hand.

Chi lifted an eyebrow and paused quite thoughtfully. "Perhaps it was a slip of the tongue, but the question I want to know is whether you meant it? Is that the way you feel or do you find and feel that it was simply a mistake to voice it?" She was asking dangerous questions, one that could well condemn him if he didn't answer carefully. she wasn't trying to trap him, but the fact that he said that it was a slip of the tongue made her ask questions.

She shrugged her shoulders. "It is a story of life and love, intertwined with what I believe is the creation of the planet we stand on. There are many other stories about how the Earth came and some of them are even sung, but that is by far the one that I prefer, because it explains how the moon came to be, better than any of the other ones."

She stood up, she hadn't put a coat on when she left. It truly didn't matter, she didn't feel the cold or even get sick. She nodded amiably. "Of course, I would really appreciate you walking me home."

There was a quiet between them as they made their way onto the street and began their stroll. He had instructed his unnamed aide to meet him with the car at her apartment complex.

Finally, he broke the silence. “It was nice to see you again and I hope that we have the opportunity to reconnect in the future. But there is something I would like to ask you to do and move Max back onto the street, he is important to what I have in the works and I need him back in play.”

Through their link, he shared a restricted sense of what he was up to but guarded those thoughts in doing it.

After a few more steps he said, “It really was good to see you, I was not sure how this would go on such short and unexpected notice.”

Chi stopped in her tracks and looked at him, her eyes unreadable. For a moment she simply watched knowing that he was hiding things, yet everyone had secrets and he could keep his own. She grabbed him by the collar, bringing his face mere inches from her own. "You hurt him in any way, shape or form, I will hunt you down. People don't like to be part of schemes they know nothing about, yet he is in yours. Whatever you have in mind, be careful."

She released his collar and continued on her way. She wasn't bothered by what she had done, it was an extra precaution. She was sure that he knew that already but it was better to be perfectly clear. "It was good to see you, I'm glad that we could renew our link." It didn't share th emotion that she truly felt, but she had to start somewhere.

He hadn't answered her question and she was perplexed as to why, yet didn't push the issue. It would come back up eventually, if they continued to meet up. That was only if he was willing to see her, because she was, yet he seemed so busy. Men always were more busy then women.
