Title: Eventually

Rin - February 17, 2007 12:07 AM (GMT)
It was cold outside, the park blanketed by the snow glowed with the lights of the buildings around it's perimeter. Jen pulled her coat around her before stuffing her weights and work out clothes into her duffle bag. She had forgotten her hat tonight, she had checked the pockets twice now ... nothing ... well, maybe some lint but no hat. An agitated sigh left her lungs before she pulled the duffles strap over her shoulder and left. Why couldn't she had checked before she took the shower? Now her hair was wet and there was nothing she could really cover it with. Pleasant.

Jen went on to the park, her car was in a garage on the other side. There was a lit gravel pathway iced over with melting snow winding through the park like a glow worm, it led in that general direction and was quickest way she knew of.

The wind picked up bringing with it a chill that swallowed her up and without a hat she improvised by pulling her coat up around her head. Not too much of an improvement but it would do. Though it was freezing she didn't want to be hasty about getting to her car right now, if she slipped on the icy path it didn't look like she would have much help. The buildings were growing darker and the people were leaving to go home. She knew she'd get there eventually.

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 12:16 AM (GMT)
Dmitri was out for a night time stroll and perhaps a hunt. He was scouting from the top of the building and was watching everything that was going on below. This was where he had met Angelia and it brought fuzzy memories to think of it. Perhaps that was why he was here again, it was a lucky place to him now and he was a little superstitious.

His eyes caught on a lone female walking to a garage. It was most likely where her car was. She caught his interest, he wasn't sure why, but then again who walked outside, alone in the middle of the night? Only vampires would do that and from where he was, he couldn't tell if the girl was one or not.

He placed both hands on the wall and climbed down the building a bit. He looked like a overgrown creature that had found a way to climb down buildings that had no way to grip to them. Dmitri had figured outhe could this, it was practical in a city such as Demaitre.

For the moment, he would simply watch her, perhaps something interesting would happen, or perhaps he would have to do something to make something interesting happen. It had been a while since he had scared anybody.

Rin - February 17, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
Clearly the weather here was not made for southern girls like her, she had known this long before this particular moment, however she never really was quite prepared for it. Her mother had taken her once to New York City and in the time that they we're there a blizzard struck. That didn't stop them from sight seeing though, oh no, Jen had to put on nearly every peice of clothing she brought and go out into that mess. Her mother was determined to make that trip worth every shiny penny. When they got home Jen was sure she'd never go back there while the weather was like that. Looking around her now she dearly missed Texas, on maybe two occaisions in her life did she ever see snow there.

Another blistering cold blast of wind made her stop in her tracks to pull the coat around her more. Something must have fell off her bag out of her pockets because she heard a small thud on the ground and started looking franticly. Even started murmuring something under her quivering breath.

"Where is it? Hurry up, hurry up, God please hurry up."

There on the side of the pathway, she could see her cell phone. It must have fallen from the pocket in her duffle bag. She scurried towards it and suddenly lost her balance before falling backwards. It must have been the weight of the duffle bag had pulled her body to one side as she tried to prevent a bad fall by putting her arms back. Her head had hit the path first but not so hard that she was unconcious ... maybe stunned but she was well aware of what happened. She laid there for a minute and gathered her thoughts before sitting up slowly.

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
Dmitri didn't mind the cold. Hell he could probably live in the Artic for all it really mattered. The only problem with the artic was that there weren't many humans up there. You can't survive somewhere if your main source of food wasn't there. That simply didn't work.

He watched as the mortal, for clearly she was mortal hurried to her car. He saw something drop out of her bag and dropped down from his place on the building. Straight down until he landed quietly on the sidewalk. That was when he noticed her on the ground. Mortals were idiots.

Dmitri walked over to her as she stirred and tried to sit up. He grabbed her cell phone and handed it to her. "Are you alright?"

Rin - February 17, 2007 01:17 AM (GMT)
Jen stared at the stranger as she took back her phone and tucked it securely away, she didn't trust her voice so she nodded simply in response to his inquiry. Not quite ready to stand up yet she took a moment to feel the side of her head, it was sore and there where certainly the beginnings of a bump there. Her hair felt ice cold against her hand and she remembered to pull her jacket back up.

"Thanks."

Not her best big girl voice but considering the fact that it was cold and she had just hit her head against some ice Jen let it go. She pulled herself up and took another second or two to let the stars clear her vision. Her brown eyes looked on him then, like she felt she needed to say something other than just thanks. "I'm Jen." Yeah an introduction works. She wondered quietly if he worked around there.

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
Dmitri watched her, his eyes alert and inquisitive. He was never a social butterfly and that hadn't changed in his entire life. Simply because he used to live in the coven, didn't mean that he was social. He was actually quite the opposite. Living with other killers made him more territorial and knowing that he had competition made him think more of how to go about getting his prey and making them squirm.

He could smell the pain and that through his body into turmoil. He loved the smell of pain and fear, though he liked fear a lot better. "You're welcome Jen. I'm Dmitri." Wouldn't say much about him, he was simply an older man helping a younger woman, besides he liked to spend a night on the town, alone.

It was a pretty name, most likely a dimiutive for Jennifer and he found that interesting. Something had happen, now was to see if anything else would.

Rin - February 17, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
Awkward. At least thats what Jennifer made of the situation, she swallowed as she looked away and back towards the path. In her gut she felt something was off about this man and a majority of her being didn't want to stick around to see that prediction made true.

"Nice to have met you."

He had given her no reason to be rude but she felt no reason to exchange anymore pleasantries, she left him with that and carefully continued on. Jen adjusted her coat, uncomfortable with having turned her back on him. She promised herself though that she wouldn't look back, no need to feed her insecurity.

(uhm any ideas on what could happen?)

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 02:47 AM (GMT)
Dmitri of course was unnatural and awkward, he had the piercing gaze of a predator with prey and most mortals were nothing more than food to him anyways. Though food was better when it was running for it's life and the predator was hunting. So he would have to scare her first.

She was leaving and he smirked. He could already smell an edge of fear and confusion. She didn't like him and thought him odd, though you couldn't blame him, he came from a different time all together. Things were different back then. He started walking keeping half a step behind her, his feet soundless of the ground. Then he spoke, almost a scant inch behind her. "You are scared, you have no idea what I want. That makes you insecure. Perhaps I can help feed your fear." What a predator he was.

Rin - February 17, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
She was imagining this ... yeah, she hit her head, maybe alittle harder than she thought and she was imagining this. Still even if she wasn't Jen could defend herself. There was a reason she brought her own personal weights to the gym. Her pulse pounded in her ears and choices came with it shouting at her as if it was they were a megaphone pressed to her ear.

Should she stay on the path or run out across the unlit wooded part? Should she turn and face him or run? Was this real or not, and did she want to pause to find out?

No, she didn't want to take the chance that it might not be real, that could cost her. Yes, the path seemed safe with it's lights, how it led straight to the other side of the park but she wasn't guarenteed good ground to run on. Outside the path was untouched snow that she could move succesfully on without fear of slipping but then again it was dark and if he caught up with her she'd be in trouble. Now as far as facing him, she was debating that as she walked, her speed slowly increasing. He was talking to her now and it was taking the desired effect. Oh God. Her lips mouthed the words as if saying them would somehow help. Jen made the decision to run, if it came down to it she'd fight him but all she wanted to do was to get to the other end. Maybe if she did there would be the hope that he'd leave her alone.

She didn't go further into the park but she didn't stay on the path either, running as fast as she could go with tennis shoes and a foot of snow. The jacket fell back around her shoulders and her duffle bag swung heavily at her side, she wouldn't give it up though, she needed it.

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 03:19 AM (GMT)
Dmitri could almost see the ideas being thrown at her, by a free panicked mind. He could almost feel her tensed to run and his own body prepared for the hunt. This was going to be fun. He could already feel the adrenaline pumping into his veins and when she took off to a dead run she gave her a five second head start, before starting after her.

Unlike her, he didn't need the ground to move. He jumped from tree to tree, not even touching the ground, therefore the snow didn't slow him down. He didn't go too fast, he didn't want the hunt to end yet.

Things were starting to slow down and he wanted it to go fast. That bag was weighing her down. He smirked and launched himself to be ahead of her and dropped straight in her path. This was the end of line on this side. Would she turn back, slam into him or fight? That was left to be seen.

Rin - February 17, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
Things were going well, or so she thought, he had been kind of behind her up until a point. Then quite suddenly he was directly in her path ... just standing there. It was like some sick game of chess and it was her move. He was between her and her way home ... he could certainly count on her not turning back. Jen stopped and there was something else there besides fear. Determination perhaps? Her will to not go down without some sort of resistance?

She didn't know what this was standing in her way and she didn't care to really find out. He frightened her and she was sure if he found her fear amusing then he probably found her will to fight him cute ... or funny. Jen took a breath before reaching into her bag, took both weights in her hands and then let the bag slip off her shoulder. She waited then, her focus on him and their surroundings.

Making no effort to be the first to attack she stood there silent, yes if for some reason she would be questioned about this later she could have said she did it out of self-defense. However all he had done so far was scare her and run really really fast, Jen would only attack him if she felt it necessary.

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 03:49 AM (GMT)
Dmitri did find her will to fight him amusing. She so wanted to get by him, but he wasn't going to let that happen. She had turned from simply a person to prey and the hunger started to gnaw at him.

The transformation that went over his face was quick and effective. His face changed and he was the beast side of him. His jaw protruded slightly and the double row of fangs was clearly apparent. She let out a low growl. There was nothing human about him anymore, this was simply the beast that had not feelings except the hunger.

She had no idea who she was dealing with and that would soon become apparent. He crouched down and then leaped to tackle her.

Rin - February 17, 2007 04:05 AM (GMT)
Words couldn't begin to express the new fear that ignited within her being and for a second she had completely forgotten about what was happening. Then it all came back to her in a flash of brilliant color and without thinking she met his attack. Jen swung a weight into his side as he leapt towards her, she wasn't sure if it hit or not she didn't take time to think about it before she took one towards his head.

Distract him ... either that or wound him enough to get away. Yeah that was the plan. She struck at him with the weights without stopping as she made the effort to try and get out of his range.

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 04:11 AM (GMT)
Dmitri managed to twist himself in the air and meet the onslaught of one of her weights but shen she swung again, he had just landed on her and smacked him right against the temple. He was thrown off her and he simply lay there on his back momentarily stunned.

Had she hit him? Was the woman totally insane? Fighting him was probably the worse that she could do, because now since he was in pain, that made the beast in him mad and made him want to rip her apart shred by shred. He stood up and smelled the air, his nose was a little better at this and one of his eyes was badly out of focus anyways so he would let his nose guide the way.

Rin - February 17, 2007 04:23 AM (GMT)
Uhm wow he got up quick. There were red flags going up everywhere as she watched him still stunned by what just happened, and then Jen saw it ... the small but present window of oppertunity. She took it, blazing a trail through the snow along side the path as fast as her feet could carry her. It was there ... she could see it, the other side, it wasn't far and with him wounded she knew she could make it.

Jen had been sure to keep the weights with her, it would have been stupid to leave what weapons she had there with him. She left the duffle bag, work out clothing wasn't worth losing her life over and besides she could get more when this was over. Now she just had to get to the garage, somebody would be there, Jen was sure of it. Would that thing attack if she wasn't alone?

She hadn't been paying attention to what she was doing and suddenly there was pavement under her feet, scraped clean of snow and salted down. Jen would have liked to kiss it if she wasn't in fear of her life.

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 04:29 AM (GMT)
Dmitri saw her run and he let out an animalistic roar. No one got away with hurting him, they would pay and they would pay dearly. Most likely with their life. He chased her, his skull slowly rebuilding where it had been smashed through. Soon his eye regained some kind of of vision and he could see her clearly and snarled as her foot touched the pavement.

He sped up and soon was close behind her. Vampires stopped for nothing and nothing, not even a car would stop him. He continued chasing her and tackled her.

Rin - February 17, 2007 04:44 AM (GMT)
Jen had managed to atleast look upon the garage before tasting concrete. Shit. His body felt like bricks slamming against her and for a moment she didn't know what had happened. She lay there with a taste of bittersweetness on her tongue as blood spilled over her lips. Jennifer wanted to reach up and wipe it away but at the cost of losing one of the weights she resisted. The first thing he would want to do would be to get those away from her. Now all she had to do was to get him off of her.

She didn't think to scream for help, instead she beat at him with the only weapons she wielded.

Pandora Lorrain - February 17, 2007 04:51 AM (GMT)
Dmitri grinned and it wasn't a nice one. He smelled blood and his eyes glowed with want, want for that sweet nectar that flowed through her veins. He let out a growl as she tired to hit him with her weights and managed with a little difficulty to pin both her arms to the ground.

Dmitri tilted his head to one side and smiled at her. It was definitely not a friendly smile and it made people wonder what actually went through his mind. "Did you ever stop and wonder perhaps what I wanted?" His words were hard to understand in his present form, though if one listened clearly they could here the distinctiveness of words. One simply had to listen.

Rin - February 17, 2007 05:04 AM (GMT)
With her arms pinned and the look he was presently giving her did she really want to know? She swallowed and to her disgust it filled her throat with blood. Jen flinched before meeting his heavy gaze. "Not really." She was suprised at the sudden confidence that filled her words, she was even more suprised at the fact that she could make out what he was saying. "But if I could guess now ... maybe a dentist appointment." Cracking jokes probably wasn't wise, but at this moment it was only part of what she could do to keep from tearing up.

Her hands clenched around the weights and she was sure he could feel the tension in her wrists. She watched how his eyes glimmered with wicked delight as the blood seeped from her lips, he wanted it ... or the rest of it ... She wanted to spit it in his face but what that would do for her she was unsure of.

Pandora Lorrain - February 20, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
Dmitri frowned at her and then thought about it. To him a dentist appointement would be to make her a vampire, but Angelia wouldn't take that too well, since the last time and besides he had never needed a fledgling before and wasn't going to have two. "Trust me, I'm no dentist and sarcasm or hysteria won't get you anywhere with me."

Perhaps pointing out the obvious is something that Dmitri was good at, but he saw things as they were. That was what warrior's did. Dmitri lifted her hands until they were both pinned underneath on of his. Having one hand free, he used it to get rid of the weights that her hands were clenched around. He tossed them away, there was nothing she could do, he was a lot more stronger than she was.

His eyes had lost interest in the blood and truthfully, he wanted her to run a little more before the real fun began. He leaned over so he was at her ear. "I'll free you but you have to promise me one thing. Think that you are ready to hear it?"

Rin - February 20, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
Jennifer gave him her undivided attention because as she figured it what else was there for her to do? He had lifted her arms up without any effort and her hands had been clenched around the weights tight enough that the grip would bring bruises to her palms later but yet he pulled them away so easily. Jen might have been blonde but she wasn't stupid, she knew she could only have kept those weights for so long.

Her heart pounded in her chest as Dmitri leaned into her, it had a strange beat when she was nervous, if one would listen close enough they could hear it skipping every other beat. She swallowed as she listened to him speak into her ear, one word stuck out from the rest ... Free. Jennifer didn't trust him, as she saw it you don't just get attacked by something then it just let you go. This was a sick game of cat and mouse to him. She did see it as a second chance though, if she could just get to the garage she just knew she'd be safe.

"Yeah ..." Jennifer realized the voice leaving her lips wasn't hers, it was one of some fearful child that just realized the monsters under her bed were real. "I think I'm ready."

Pandora Lorrain - February 20, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
She was listening that was a good thing. It hadn't been all that hard to move her around, she was like a rag doll in his arms. He could whatever he wanted with her and the real fun was about to start.

He could hear her heart pounding, moving the sweet juice that he called food, that was blood. He could hear it pounding, moving around her body, his vampiric nature wanted the blood, but he was willing to fight for it. Make her scared and he would enjoy every bit of it.

She was listening and obviously was going to do exactly what he asked. "I want you to run for your life." That was exactly what he wanted her to do. He got up, releasing her. "Starting now."

Rin - February 21, 2007 12:01 AM (GMT)
It was a small taste of relief to have been released from his grasp before she realized what it was he wanted her to do. Run, that's what he had said, run for her life. Jennifer got up, her brown eyes, usually warm and filled with comfort held fear and the smallest flicker of hope as she looked to him. It was then that she ran harder and faster than she ever remembered running before. She didn't look back, she didn't want to know how close behind her he was or if maybe he was even giving her a head start.

Jen turned into the garage entrance to see the booth between lanes empty and dark. She looked at it for a moment thinking that surely someone had to be here. There was no time to stall, she had to get to her car. Her Nissan Frontier was big enough it could provide her the abilty to cause more damage than those weights and if not that then atleast a faster escape. Jennifer ran past the gates to the stairs, the elevators had been out all week and she wasn't about to waste time trying to find out if they had been fixed. Taking two stairs at a time as she ran up and up and up. Her throat burned as she inhaled the cold air and it felt as if she no longer had control of her body ... like it was on auto pilot and all she could do was watch.

Pandora Lorrain - February 21, 2007 02:01 AM (GMT)
Dmitri watched her run and quickly he returned to her bag. He had smelled something metallic and he had been curious to what it was. He would give her a little of a head start, he wasn't worried. Even if she took the car he could follow her. He opened the bag and smiled when he knew what had caught his attention.

He fished out a set of keys. He listed the ones he recognized, house key and car key. She wasn't going anywhere not without these. He strolled back towards the garage and pocketed them in his pocket. He crouched down and leaped towards the entrance. Once inside, he lifted his head, sniffing the air. His eyes narrowed on the stairs and he ran towards them, refusing to use the stairs. He climbed the walls instead and wondered momentarily how far ahead she was.

Rin - February 21, 2007 02:59 AM (GMT)
Jennifer had just pushed open the door for the fourth level before she heard movement at the bottom of the stairs. There it was, oh God, she had never been so happy to see an automotive in her life. Aside from her own car there were a few others but only a few. She ran to it reaching into her pocket to pull out her keys, then when she couldn't find them reached into the other. Jen patted down her coat franticly hoping that she didn't leave them behind. Nothing.

Plan B. She yanked off her coat and wrapped her arm with it before slamming her elbow against the driver's seat window. A crack ... well thats a start ... Jen continued to beat at the window until it shattered. Her arm hurt now but if she could hot wire the truck maybe she could get out.

Was she kidding?! She didn't know how to hot wire a car ... hell she didn't even know how to air up a flat tire! Her breath was starting to come really fast now.

Don't panic. Don't panic. Don't panic.

The last thing she needed now was a panic attack. Jen closed her eyes and took some calm breaths before looking at the car. What to do now?

Pandora Lorrain - February 21, 2007 03:09 AM (GMT)
Dmitri inhaled and could now smell the fear coming down from up above. He let out a small pleasurable growl. The fear in itself was intoxicating and that made him move faster, up and up until he stood above the door to the fourth floor. He lifted his head to sniff higher and knew that this was the floor.

Dmitri opened the door and slipped through. He could sense the fear, a little pain and someone on the verge of a panic attack. He approached her, his footfalls silent on the floor. "I think you forgot something in that bag of yours." He lifted the keys out of his pockets and dangled them. "It's a little hard to get away when you don't have the proper hardware."

Rin - February 21, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
Jennifer turned to face him clasping her arm to her chest. He was coming closer dangling the keys as he approached, the soft jingle of metal made her eyes gloss over with tears. Her mouth opened for some sort of response but nothing emerged. Jen's mind was raced for something ... anything that might could help but meanwhile she was panicing and any sensible thought no matter how much it tried wouldn't breakthrough.

Could she run? If she did how far would she get? She could scream, maybe then someone would hear and come. Jen started to run past her car, her legs were tired and burned with strain as she willed them to move. She resembled some wounded animal fighting for it's survival as she urged her legs to move while clutching her sore arm to her chest.

Pandora Lorrain - February 21, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
Dmitri grinned as she ran off. He had no idea where she was going, but this was perhaps one of the best hunts he had ever had. It was amazing and she kept running and trying to save herself, but there was no way out now. Her bag had been left behind, her keys were in his hand and there was no where for her to go, unless she went to a populated area.

Dmitri took off at a run after her and leaped latching himself to a wall, continuing to follow her, like a spider that was racing towards it's prey and was gaining on them and knew that they were hitting the end of the line. He crouched and jumped passing her, cutting her off again. "It was a pleasure darling, truly it was. I think that it is time to end this."

Rin - February 21, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
The military hadn't trained her for this and it amazed her now that she had always felt that she was prepared for anything, that nothing could phase her. Boy was she wrong. Jennifer stopped as he cut her off once more, tears trailed over her paled face as she accepted the fact that maybe there wasn't a way out. Jen had far too much pride to go out begging for her life so instead the woman stood there, watching him and waiting for his next move.

Pandora Lorrain - February 21, 2007 04:09 AM (GMT)
Dmitri could almost see the despair on her face. He thought that he felt a momentarily pang of pity for her, but if he had it was quickly gone. He approached her and pounced directly onto her, most likely to catch her off guard and they found themselves in the same position that they had outside.

He had pinned her, moving her arms out of the way and leaning over, close to her neck. "It won't hurt too much and it might even be somewhat pleasant." Those were the last words he said to her, before he dug his teeth into her neck.

Rin - February 21, 2007 04:21 AM (GMT)
A gasp left her as he pounced suddenly, she didn't have time to scream it happened so quickly. He positioned her like a little doll effortlessly before she felt his breath on the nape of her neck. Words were spoken into her skin and suddenly pain, blinding at first then began to fade into something she never would have associated with fear or pain. Soft cries left her lips as she struggled at first, then slowly very slowly she let it go, she gave up.

Pandora Lorrain - February 21, 2007 04:29 AM (GMT)
The taste of her blood going down her throat made him insist more, he wanted that blood, it was simply intoxicating and it made him yearn for that sweet blood over and over again.

He didn't rip her throat but allowed the puncture marks to feed him and he took great care into making sure that none of it spilled. He stopped and lifted his head. He wasn't going to kill her, no. He had turned into a great big softie since meeting Angelia. He didn't cause unneccesary pain and he didn't kill, unless you count the misshap with creating a fledgling.

He looked down at her. She was pale and weak, but he would kill her and she definitely had enough blood to keep herself alive, though unconscious. He moved away and picked her up in his arms. He placed her in her car and car keys in her hands, perhaps they could do this again, it had been fun, that was perhaps one of the other reasons why he didn't kill her.

Rin - February 26, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
(So I assume for now this is it? I'll have a fun time writing my next thread when she's been taken to the hospital ... people will think she's lost it when she tries to explain what happened.)
