Just ariving into Demaitre had been a bit of a shock to Lana... It was colder and it seemed to get darker quicker than in New York. But it was also smaller, less crowded, which was a good thing. She hadn't seen a single cop since she had gotten here and well, that was an encouragment to her. After all, then she couldn't be deported or anything... Sent back home to face her family. They would be better off without her anyway.

But she needed to find a place to stay... An the abandond buiding on the other side of the street looked promising. It was all dark, there was no one around to watch her go in eather. It was perfect. It would help keep the cold away, and she could hide safely.

Hurrying across the street she went to the door but found that it was chained shut... Well that was no good... She would have to find another way in then... A window perhaps? There were a few that were broken out, but those would be dangerous to go through. Another door?

She moved into the dark alley on the other side of the building, looking for a back door. And there was one! She rushed to it and tugged at the handle. It was locked...

Lana tugged harder at it and it moved a little. Jammed maybe? She pulled on it with all her might, creaking insued, but she couldn't get it more than a few inches open, just enough to get her hand in... She wasn't strong enough to open the door, but she kept trying, tugging at it with all her weight. No one would see her down here... It was pitch black in the ally and the only light was out on the street, she could only see shadows, so she was sure no one would notice her tugging at the door back her.

It began to inch open with screeches of rust and the heavy creek of the old wood.

Violet walked down the alley, following the girl that seemed lost. She was beautiful by human standards, but Violet was interested in more then that. What was someone like her doing down such a dangerous alley? Especially with so many dangerous people out at night.

Violet watched as she tugged and pushed at the door to no avail. With a wicked smile Violet glided over to the woman.

"Here, let me help you," Violet said as she pressed on the door with both hands, making the strain seem more then it actually was. The door swung open, the chain that barred it snapping.

Violet glided in and looked around. It was horrid in this place. It must have been abandoned for years.

"What do you want in this place? There can't be much," Violet asked, somewhat curious.

Keilana hadn't even heard the footsteps of the woman who had appered seemingly out of no where.

She jumped back slightly, her eyes opened wide with fear. "Wha-what do you want." She said quickly, watching as the woman opened the door. "I... I'm just looking for a place to stay for the night. No one owens this place or is here... So I figured no one would mind..." Did this woman own the place? She was kind of creepy... her hair was dark... but unaturaly so as if she died it, not like Kielana's own.

"Why are you helping me? I don't need it or anything." She said defencivly. "I can take care of myself." She said as she picked up her little duffle bag.

Violet smiled sweetly as the girl spoke.

"I'm sure you can my dear. You proved that by opening the door just then. No one owns this place, except for the city maybe. It was condemned a while back. You are free to stay here. I don't care, but why you would want to is beyond me," Violet said sarcastically. "Well, whatever suits your taste I guess."

Violet turned back to the door and strode out, gliding just above the ground. Violet never walked on the earth anymore, only indoors. She passed the girl and smiled like a mother would, her head slightly tilted.

"I am Violet. Have a good night. I live down the block in the big house if you need anything. I am usually out during the day, but you will find me there at night. I work from home and do my best thinking at night, so that is the best time to catch me."

Keilana narrowed her eyes at the woman. She was odd... Encouraging her to stay here? Not asking any kind of questions? What kind of adult was she.

"You... You're not gonna report me to the police are you?" She asked susspiciously. Working in pangentry you knew that everyone had motives and they never did something out of simple kindness. Especialy in New York City...

Violet... Huh... Well she wasn't obliged to tell the woman her name. And if she was just going to turn her in to the police that would be kinda stupid.

"I mean I just want ta stay the night here... That's all." She said, her new yourk accent commign out slightly, as she watched Violet closely. "You won't tell anyone will you?" She asked again. Cause if the woman was going to tell she would just run for it. And she knew when people were lying... It was a talent of hers really.

Violet laughed as the girl spoke about the cops. Growing up in New York in the late 1800s had been no picnic and Violet could tell from her accent that they shared a birthplace.

"No. I wouldn't. And they probably wouldn't do anything about it even if I did. You're not in New York anymore. It's a lot different. A lot different. I don't really care if you stay here or not, I just thought it odd that someone such as yourself would be living in an abandoned building."

Violet extended her arm towards the building. "Stay here as long as you like. But there are better places that you can sleep. Whatever you like best I guess. I am down the street if you need me. Third house. On the corner to the left. Good night."

With that Violet turned and left, gliding down the alley way towards her home. She reached a shadow and seemingly vanished from sight, only to reappear on the other side of it.

"This is fine..." Keilana said quickly. New York? Yeah... The woman's accent sounded vaguely familiar... But it seemed older, as if this woman had been raised in one of the older families of New York. She had met such people at the pageants... After all they weren't all transplant middle class like she was.

"Night..." She said simply, disappearing into the building. She wasn't going to stay in a strangers house... Who knew what they'd do to her. After all, if this were New York she'd know where to go, where to find food and shelter. But she knew that no matter where she hid in New York they could find her and she didn’t want to go home again. Not until she was cured. It had been a white since her last blackout, but she wanted to be sure.

Once in the building though, Keilana pulled the door very nearly shut, leaving it open only a crack.

Waiting a moment for her eyes to adjust, Keilana looked around the empty building. There was a whole assortment of abandoned furniture in the room, office and home alike. She made her way to a rather old looking sofa that looked big enough to sleep on. It smelled old and musty, like it had been left out too long, but it would do. She sat down with a sigh and put her duffle bag on the floor. The silence in the building was eerie… But she knew no one was there….

Curling up on the musty old couch she closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep.

Violet walked out of the alley and down the street to her home. She smiled as she walked. It was good to see another New Yorker around. Maybe the two of them would get along.

Turning, Violet opened the door to her house and stepped inside. She shut the door, but left it unlocked. She walked down the hall to her study. Pulling the chair out, Violeet pulled out a quill, ink, and paper. She felt like writing to her sister in England. The midevil stuly writing was just for fun.

((OOC: Sorry this sucks and took so long. I reply to the others later I'm just really busy.))

She tried to fall asleep... Tried for a good twenty minutes, but it was getting colder without something to cover her.

Getting up reluctantly she dug around in her bag for a moment before finding her little flashlight. Clicking it on she looked around, trying to find a blanket, a big peice of fabric, a tarp... Anything that would help keep her warm...

Back in one of the corners there was a sheet that was keeping the dust off of some boxes and so she set the flashlight down and pulled off the sheet, shaking off all the dust and dirt that had settled on it.

With a sigh she returned to the couch and pulled the sheet tight around her. Running away was a lot less glamorus than she had thought it would be... She didn't know it would be this hard...
