Okay, I was wondering what channels you get in Canada, specifically Demaitre. Yes, I know it's a stupid question, but I was thinking of making a character for whom television is very important. For the record, I have actually been in Canada, but I didn't watch TV.
*scratches head*
Do you get CBS or anything like that? Sports?
I'm across the country, but... I'm going to answer this according to my experience. Haha.
Half of the channels we get are American. We have a few Canadian channels. One is CTV, which is news and mainstream shows (CSI, Desperate Housewives, etc.) and made-for-TV movies. We have the CBC, which is much the same. There's Global, which, again, ditto.
We do get a bunch of American sports channels. Discover Channel. TLC. ABC. CBS. NBC.
We have a music channels of our own - Much Music, Much More Music, and variations on that theme. o.O
Uh. That's all I can think of.
This is a list of all of the channels available via cable in Ottawa, Ontario (which is approx. where Demaitre is). I have no idea what satellite would be like, but hopefully this helps.

Thanks, y'all. I had another question too, but it only peripherally pertains to the whole TV thing. How much of real life is in RPG life? The character I'm planning on creating was a big football star, so how much leeway do I have in fiddling with the teams he was on? Can I reference current, actual players mixed with my own, original ones? Could I create a school for him to go to that doesn't really exist?
Hmm. I don't think I'm explaining myself well.
Yes, you could create a school for him to go to that doesn't really exist... And I suppose you could use real players, just avoid making claims about things that they haven't actually done (other than be on a team with your made-up character).
