There was a party at the Last Curtain tonight.

It was supposed to be a suave affair, with the dazzling royalty from all over Demaitre attending to celebrate the recent success of the show. All the swanky cats came out a-glittering with diamonds and pearls and lovely gowns. Jazz and swinging tunes played in the background, true to the theme of the play. There was laughter and the chink of champagne glasses, and above all else, tons of shallow, self-centered little people all trying to outdo each other with dresses, riches, and God knows what else.

It was Joandra’s type of party.

Wearing a tight, six hundred dollar chiffon dress of turquoise with a sheer bottom that left her creamy calves clearly visible, she wandered about, snuggling up to various people like they were old friends. Diamonds glittered from her ears, and an expensive looking piece hung down beneath her breasts. Walking like a woman who knew exactly where she stood in the world, she laughed with a group of CEOs who were sponsoring the event, a dry martini in one hand, and her old-fashioned cigarette holder in the other.

“Miss Morris, do you have a date tonight?” asked one of the men – a cultured one, who didn’t have a wedding band on his finger.

“Not yet sweetheart,” was her reply, winking at him. “We’ll see how it goes before the end of the night though.” Laughter met her flamboyant reply, as she took a long drag on her holder, an impish gleam in her eye. “Now gents, if you’ll all excuse me, I have some very beautiful people to mingle with.” Waggling her fingers at the one man, she walked away. Downing her martini in one gulp, she asked for another.

Smokes, alcohol, sex. She was the twenties in the flesh, honey.

((So sorry you started this and then I left. I've been sooo busy, but I'm here now))

Vontae was invited to the party at the Last Curtain that night. Not really his type of party, but he knew it to be Amara's. He didn't assume she would be here, but getting among her crowd wouldn't hurt. Besides, the rich were his crowd. Pretty girls wandered the party, smoking and drinking champagne. He remembered the twenties well, and this party only brought fond memories.

So, he figured while he was there, why not look the part? He wore a white shirt, a black tail coat over it and a top hat to match. His shoes, were original black patent leather, still as in good shape as they were when he first bought then in the twenties. His hat was titled, hiding golden eyes and messy black hair.

Standing in the corner, a wine glass in his hand for show, he searched the crowd for some sort of destination, someone to focus his intentions on. Then he saw her, just his type of girl. She carried herself tall, as if she owned the world. Not cocky, she just knew where she stood. Vontae liked a girl like that, confident at the least, though he didn't normally favor independent women. She was surely independant and something about her drew him to her.

He made a beeline towards her, well sort of. He at least made an effort to catch her attention. As she mingled, he managed to make it through the group of people crowding around her. He barely heard her say something about mingling with beautiful people before she began to walk away.

Lightly, Vontae touched her arm, mesmorizing golden eyes peaking from beneath his hat.

"Aint you just the cat's meow? You can mingle with me if you want, baby."
