It was late... But she still had so much work to do... Three more essays in fact and she was getting tired. Nearly falling asleep in the chair of the lounge as she typed persistantly on her laptop just two more pages to go on this one, then about nine more pages total on the other two. But it was already just past one and she was drifting off. Tomorrow she had to work tomorrow night... Not to mention her class just before. That was the class this essay was for... If she just finished this one...

The ever persistant Jessica kept typing, sipping at the coffee what wasn't doing any good keeping her up this time at night. Well not after being up all day anyway. Perhaps she could just do one more page, just those few more lines, and call it a night, finishing the paper after a good nights sleep. Yeah that sounded good.

Blinking and rubbing her eyes they young woman began to type furiously, wanting nothing more to go to bed. But even when she finished typing she still had to make it back to her appartment... "Oy vey this is going to be a long night..." She muttered with a sigh, draining the last of her coffee.

Fifteen minutes later she had finished all but her conclusion, saved her paper and packed up her laptop and was walking across the grounds in a very sleepy manner. She didn't feel like she was going to make it back... And she didn't know whatelse she could do. Naybe rest her eyes a bit on a bench in the park? Yeah that seemed like a good idea. Or at least it did to the sleepy part of her brain.

Nearly colapsing on the next bench she came to Jessica rested her head on her carrying case for her laptop, several strands of dark hair falling across her face. She gave an exausted sigh, closing her thin jacket around her. "So tired..." She yawned.

I walk a lonely road...

A tall figure slowly made his way through the campus, looking to all the world a student wandering. His face was, well, some might call it hard and others might call it strong. Depended on how you looked at him. Hard was probably more accurate, as he smiled rather infrequently, and when he did the expression seemed vaguely out of place on his lips. His eyes were dark, often stony, and the whites stood out from his dark skin and irises on this shadowy night.

The only one that I have ever known...

Kane was his name, and it had been a rather ingenious idea (to his thinking) to go hunting on the college campus. He looked forever young and right at home with the crowd of students. The dark-skinned vampire had even remembered to dress, sort of, for the occasion. He wore New Balance 991s rather than his standard boots, dark jeans with large pockets (which is actually what he generally wore anyway), and a long-sleeved shirt of the vintage variety with a faded design on the front. Over it all, he wore his thick denim jacket, which more or less completed the look of neatly casual wear.

Don't know where it goes...

There... There was a girl just sitting out on a bench. Perfect. Now the question was how to approach. He wasn't a beast, exactly, he didn't just charge up to humans and tear their throats out. More, he didn't want to hurt her any more than he had to. He needed blood to survive, he didn't need to kill. Standing still for a moment, hidden in the shadows, Kane debated what to do.

But it's home to me and I walk alone...

Simple was best, he decided at last, walking from the shadows towards her. Shifting so that the pilfered books he held -Kane swore he'd return them to A. Carter as soon as he could- Kane yawned widely as he walked by the girl. Thud. One of the books accidentally slipped from his hands, nearly catching the girl in the leg. "Oh, man, I'm so sorry! It didn't hit you did it?"

Jess was nodding off... It was turning into more than just a breif moment of closing her eyes... She didn't hear the footsteps, she didn't sense anyone near by. But she did jolt awake as she felt somethign hit her leg.

"Set the fracture in a splint and immobilize the joint a-" She blinked as she began to wake up more fully. "Uh, I'm sorry... Yeah, I'm okay. Uh, no harm..." She bent down slightly and picked up the book. "Actually I should be thanking you." She gave a slight chuckle as she handed it back to him. "I just sort of stopped to... Rest my eyes a bit when I dozed off..." She brushed her hand across her eyes and then through her hair. "Yeah, thanks for waking my up I guess."
