Title: Vampire Anatomy
Description: did a little research...

http://www.vampyreverse.com/facts/pathology.shtmlI found this link after looking up vampire anatomy, seeing as I'm starting my own story (novel, if I'm lucky) and I found a fact in the physiology there about the lungs that I thought might be of interest to you x) - if not, then just completely ignore it .. right now I'm just rambling and in lack of sleep.

Human haemoglobin uses iron as its core; the vampire equivalent uses magnesium. This allows the vampire to dispense with an artificially maintained body temperature; it creates a highly efficient cardiac muscle allied to more flexible blodd vessels and it virtually eliminates the risk of thrombosis/embolism.
......
Respiration in the vampire does not involve the lungs at all. Pending full dissection and analysis, it is impossible to conjecture in detail on the chemical processes involved. Oxygen-based respiration would present a serious risk of spontaneous combustion, and this may explain the vampire's need for fresh blood.

So I guess that would also fit your own anatomy, as all organs sort of disappear within vampires at Vital. Wouldn't the lungs do as well, based on this information?
*yes, I've read all of your rules, vampire's anatomy, etc etc; don't bite my head off :P*
Ok, now I should go get some sleep.. Lol, 'Tis much needed.

Not really, as Skirr said, the lungs are still needed to make speech possible. However the whole magnesium thing would explain all of the Blade/Buffy The Vampire Slayer dusting and combustion.
Magnesium goes white light when you set it on fire.
…Huh…interesting…

Nice. Interesting indeed. Lol, eh... I need some more sleep.
Thanks for explaining that :P I still find it an interesting theory, though.

Lungs remain only so vampires can sigh, speak, huff, scream, whistle, sing, and so forth. Also, if you want to smoke a cigarette (Or other, more illegal substances) you need to intake air. Oxygen and carbon dioxide are not exchanged.
But, interesting site. Those people are far more hard core, and are also not like this site in some aspects... But very interesting.

Whoever wrote this had far too much free time on their hands
