Title: Under The Church
Description: open
Nikolaos - February 12, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
Nikolaos or Nikki ran her hands through her red hair. God, she was so tired. Night was waning and she wanted to go to bed. She was just... tired. Hunting tonight had been fine and the taste of blood still lingered on her lips. She stepped silently on the stone floor and felt her eyes run across a few writings on the walls. She missed Ireland. She had missed Ireland forever... She could never return.
It was then, she felt it. A pull or something was tugging at her. It wasn't physical but she felt the call... not really a call either. A presence. It was his presence and she knew that her sire was in the city. He was here, coming for her. Her emerald eyes froze like stone and she leaned against the wall as the darkness thinned ever so slightly.
Nicolaos had been here for awhile now and she simply wanted sleep. Why then did she feel the urge to look over her shoulder? Paranoia. It didn't matter. She was a much smarter vampire than that. She looked over her shoulder.
Wyste - February 12, 2006 10:11 PM (GMT)
The man leaning against the wall behind her grins toothily, not bothering to hide.
She might recognize him from around the place. He's been hanging around the catacombs for a few months now.
He lifts one hand in lazy salute, and greets her with, "Morning, mate."
Ratter, as he is known to all and sundry, is a scrawny thing, with a lanky gauntness that speaks of too many missed meals, too many years on slim rations, too many unhealthy habits. His attire is sloppy and worn, with worn flannel and old jeans and oddly enough, new shoes. Sneakers. Trendy.
He also has a failed attempt at a beard and hair that kills combs on sight.
Nikolaos - February 12, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
Nikolaos felt her mouth curve into a smile that was just wide enough not to show fangs. "Morning isn't here just yet..." she said, a sleepy look in her eyes. "How are you Ratter?' she asked him, not sure if he remembered who she was. She examined his choice of attire and looked down at ehr own clothes. She simply wore black jeans and a t-shirt. Feeding tonight was too easy. She didn't need to wear anything to hide her...
She walkd towards him about two steps before looking up and pondering the church for a minute. She shrugged off the curiousity.
Wyste - February 12, 2006 10:24 PM (GMT)
"Eh, close enough... I've been better."
He grins, not bothering to hide his fangs.
"Still, can't complain, can't complain. You, pet?"
He uses pet names a great deal.
Part of this is because he doesn't actually know her name.
Nikolaos - February 12, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
Nikolaos smiled. She didn't need to show her fangs. he knew she was a vampire. Besides her fangs were quite long and she didn't appreciate biting her lip verytime she smiled.
"I'm tired" she said simply. She noted the hesitation and laughed softly. "It's Nicolaos" she told him as she blinked. Her smiled faded. Sunrise was coming too soon.
Wyste - February 12, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
"Aren't we all... get some sleep, hm pet?" He yawns blithely, not one to worry about 'showing weakness' or that rot.
"God knows I should."
He's been having a rather hectic time lately, and sleep has been far to the bottom of his priority list. He isn't one who falls into a coma during the day, so he has a problem if he finds himself with a case of insomnia - can't go anywhere, can't sleep, can't do much of anything.
"Care to grab something to drink with me tomorrow night?"
Standard question. He's a social creature, is Ratter, when he has the chance to be, especially within his own coven.
Nikolaos - February 12, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
Nikolaos eyed him for a moment. "Maybe.. ask me when I'm awake. I might just say yes if I'm not so damn tired" she murmured. Usually she was slightly Paranoid but she knew he was a coven member and it was against rule if one attacked another. She was safe for tonight... Now, she walked on down by Ratter and stared at the nearby door. She pushed it open to find a white coffin. She paused.
Wyste - February 12, 2006 11:27 PM (GMT)
"G'day, mate. See you this evening."
He fades into the shadows, off to find his own little corner of the catacombs to sleep in.
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 12:18 AM (GMT)
Nicolaos wandered into the room and settled into the dark coffin. She let a small smile grace her lips as she let the coffin lid shut over her. Her body drifted into the sleep that only the dead posess. She made no noise and her heartbeat slowed as she draped her hands over her chest.
Wyste - February 13, 2006 12:24 AM (GMT)
The day passes quickly for the dead, and almost before he's closed his eyes, Ratter feels that certain something that says that sunset has come and gone.
He shadow-walks to the main body of the church and takes a seat in one of the pews, feet stretched out in front of him, head thrown back as he stares at the ceiling.
Good evening, world.
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
Nikolaos opened her eyes and pushed the lid off her. Paranoia set in as darkness filled her room. She felt her body rise and leave the coffin. She looked around the room and found a dresser. She pulled out a simple pair of black jeans and a fitting black shirt. It complemented her slender body well and made her eyes stand out.
She pulled on a pair of black sneakers and walked out the door, shutting it quietly behind her. She leaned against it, feeling much more awake and aware than before. She licked her lips to gain some color. Nikki's emerald eyes fell upon the catacomb walls as she walked, making no noise at all.
Wyste - February 13, 2006 12:31 AM (GMT)
And Ratter sits, and Ratter waits, and Ratter isn't moving anytime soon.
Anyone leaving has to come by where he's sitting anyway.
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 12:33 AM (GMT)
Nikolaos walked down the catacombs, her long red hair falling over her shoulder. She spotted someone up ahead. Wonder who it can be? She wondered for a split secong before feeling her lips part into a smile. She accidentaly cut her lip on a fang yet did not wince. She licked her lip whilst looking down at the ground.
"Hey Ratter. Have a nice nap?" she asked him, muuch more lively now. Her emerald eyes sparkled as she felt her hands slip into her pockets.
Wyste - February 13, 2006 12:38 AM (GMT)
"Yeah. You, pet?"
Apparently that's her nickname until further notice.
It really could be worse. She isn't 'glorious leader', or, gads, 'fishy'.
She's 'pet'.
I doubt he even remembers her real name. He's like that.
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 12:41 AM (GMT)
"It was alright" she said in a soft voice. Nikolaos smiled again and touched a finger to her cut lip. She shrugged and brushed past Ratter. Nikolaos was thirsty, definitely thirsty. She felt her hands touch the walls as she walked. She made no sound as she moved. The writings on the wall... still she missed Ireland so much. How could she still miss Ireland so much? It had been so long....
Wyste - February 13, 2006 12:43 AM (GMT)
"Going somewhere, pet?"
I think he's following her.
Silly man. Got a crush?
Not likely, but possible.
Vaguely possible.
In a trillion years.
Anything is possible, actually.
Chaos theory.
I wonder which butterfly we have to blame for this little crime against god and man?
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 01:01 AM (GMT)
Nikolaos looked over her shoulder, eyes greener than before. Or was it just a vampiric illusion. She smiled, not showing fang. "I was going out... are you staying in?" she asked him, her eyes following his movements.
Wyste - February 13, 2006 01:08 AM (GMT)
He stretched lazily, blinking ever-so-innocently at her.
"Nah, pet. I'm going out as well. Figuring on grabbing a bite, maybe hitting a bar."
He grins. "Want to come with?"
He doesn't really expect her to say yes, but it would be nice if she did.
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 01:14 AM (GMT)
Nikolaos stared at him, deadly still. Her eyes were intent and something moved behind them. "Why not?" she said with a shrug. Her hands detached themselves from the walls as she waited for Ratter. She ran a hand along her left arm subconsciously. It gently traced an old scar... the one that ran all the way down her forearm.
Wyste - February 13, 2006 01:24 AM (GMT)
He grins.
"Good. That's good."
He points leftwards. "It's thataways."
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)
Nikki smiled. "Such lovely directions..." she murmured with a smirk. She went the way he told her to, her hands in her pockets and her eyes open.
Wyste - February 13, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
He followed, hands in pockets, lazing along.
He flipped open a pair of sunglasses once they were outside on street level and put them on.
The street lights, you see.
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 01:40 AM (GMT)
Nikolaos didn't have any sunglasses. She simply didn't look at the street lights... She turned back to Ratter. "You're quiet.." she observed. "Why?" her voice was low
Wyste - February 13, 2006 01:52 AM (GMT)
"Just thinking, pet." He sounds tired.
He sounds tired, and he sounds a bit sad about something.
No idea what.
"Where are you from?"
Nikolaos - February 13, 2006 09:14 PM (GMT)
Nikolaos felt her arm tighten as she traced her scar. "Ireland..." she said. Her voice was soft and wistful at the same time. She had missed Ireland for such a long time... yet she did not want to leave her coven here. She was loyal. Loyal to the Nephim. She flashed a tiny smile at Ratter.
"And where are you from?" she asked. Nikki had always prided herself on hiding her accent. It only came out when she wanted it too... or when she was angry. Ratter seemed slightly depressed... or tired. Nikoloas wasn't sure which so she said nothing, only kept walking, silent as the grave
Wyste - February 15, 2006 01:36 AM (GMT)
"States. Boston." Pause.
She reminds him of someone.
That's all.
He hasn't eaten in a while, either. He should eat more than once a week, but he prefers to stick to his schedule.
"Here we are."
It's a bar. Ratter is greeted as a regular, a few waves, a few smiles, a few nods.
A few look at him and look away again, not wanting to get involved. He grins at them, challenging - but there'll be no bar fights tonight.
"Everyone, this is my ladyfriend. My ladyfriend, everyone."
Nikolaos - February 15, 2006 09:29 PM (GMT)
"Ladyfriend? I haven't heard that term used in a long while... Boston. I've never been there" she smiled. The others in the bar were looking at her. She arched an eyebrow. Sure... whatever. She didn't really care, only followed Ratter to the tender.
Nikolaos' eyes searched Ratter for a moment. She noticed. "You haven't fed in awhile" It was a statement. Not a question.
Wyste - February 15, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
"That's why we're here, m'lady."
Apparently he got bored with 'pet'.
"At least, later."
He grins at the bartender. "Undiluted, of course."
The bartender rolls his eyes and mutters, "He marinates in the stuff."
The drink Ratter ordered is pure alcohol, rather than the whatever-percent of beer or wine.
It works faster. It's not like he can die again.
He would die, though, if he were human. Of alcohol poisoning.
Of all kinds of poisoning.
Nikolaos - February 15, 2006 10:34 PM (GMT)
Nikolaos gave the bartender a smile, her fangs hidden. She was getting good at it. Centuries of practice she supposed.
"Well... as long as he's not drowning I don't see the problem." her voice was humored. She laughed softly. "What should I have Ratter?" she was asking for a recomendation. She wasn't too keen on getting too drunk though. Maybe not drunk at all.
Wyste - February 15, 2006 11:55 PM (GMT)
"Whatever you want, m'lady, but I'm not buying yours, sadly."
He at least still operated under money constraints.
He's looking around now, from one regular to another, gaging them.
These are as close as he comes to his people. The ones he likes. The ones he helps out on occasion. The ones who help him.
Even the barkeep, now and again.
Nikolaos - February 16, 2006 10:01 PM (GMT)
Nikolaos shurgged and paid the man. This time her smile flashed fangs. She didn't care now...
"You're very generous sir" she told Ratter with a soft laugh. Amusing... but he seemed all right.
She ran a hand through her hair as the man brought her a drink.... a simple glass of wine. Just in case he came tonight.... she didn't want to be too drunk.
Wyste - February 16, 2006 10:48 PM (GMT)
He downs his alcohol pure and unadulterated in one long swallow, head tilted back to better take it all in, every drop.
He sighs contentedly and lets himself feel it take effect.
He points without looking at a pair of college-aged girls, the blonde one in particular. She stands, hesitantly, and comes over to him.
"How's it going, gorgeous?"
"Alright. Insomnia again."
"Don't worry about it. Calm down. Shh...."
She collapses into his arms.
After a minute or so, he lets her go.
"This time, don't let the insomnia come back. I don't want to see you again unless you turn suicidal on me, okay gorgious?"
She nods, smiles faintly, and is gone, her friend helping her walk.
He leans back against the counter, looking up at the ceiling, eyes glazed.
Oh, but that felt good.
It's a habit of his, this feeding system. In exchange for his powers of hypnosis, he gets an easy meal.
This one took study drugs. Uppers. They interact with the alcohol in interesting ways.
"Sorry, got a tad distracted, pet." He glances her way. "What were you saying?"
Nikolaos - February 16, 2006 11:28 PM (GMT)
Nikolaos arched an eyebrow and smirked. "Tactful... but it lacks a certain something" she said referring to his feeding. She shrugged and sipped ehr wine. She didn't need to feed tonight. She'd do it tommarow... tommarow.
Nikki ran a slender hand through her red hair again and bit her lip in thought. It was a nice nice... Too quiet however....
Wyste - February 16, 2006 11:53 PM (GMT)
"Tactful? I s'ppose. Our glorious leader would kill me more than he'd like to kill me now if I started getting blatant." He grins. "Not that I'd mind, but this is easier for everyone. How d'you normally play yours?"
Nikolaos - February 16, 2006 11:55 PM (GMT)
She shrugged. "My mind games aren't that easy to win" she said with a shrug. he didn't need to know. She didn't usually kill... only occassionaly. he didn't need to know she killed. She was good at games... She always won. It was simple.... a kiss and a bite... but she took them away... never in public. She wasn't stupid enough to risk ome part of the cover she had...
Wyste - February 17, 2006 12:08 AM (GMT)
He doesn't have a cover, except 'ew that guy is creepy stay far away from him'.
People who actually get to know him actually get to know him.
He likes it that way.
"Repetition helps."
Gorgeous, as he calls her, is a repeat customer. In there every few months, ever since she started college, because she just can't deal with life on her own.
Nikolaos - February 17, 2006 12:14 AM (GMT)
Nikki shrugged, lookin up at Wyste. He was taller than her. "She seems lost... I can feel it" she remarked. Her mind floated towards a few guys drinking at a far off table. She looked away. Boredom began to sink in like fangs in her neck.
Wyste - February 17, 2006 12:20 AM (GMT)
((For some reason, I have to keep explaining that Wyste is my name. His name is Ratter. It's easy to remember. Rat-er. Really. *sigh*))
"They all are, here."
He'll have some more, later. Most of those here are here in hopes that he'll have time for them.
Nikolaos - February 17, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
Nikolaos could feel her face fall ever so slightly so she looked away. Why had that stuck her? Because she herself was slightly lost. No, she was a vampire... that's all she was. Nikki sighed and stood. "I best be leaving..." she said, her eyes wistful... most likely thinking of Ireland or some unknown adventure she had centuries before on teh seas...
