Title: 12:38
Rin - November 20, 2005 07:38 PM (GMT)
The theatre was vacant tonight, Rin hardly came when it wasn't. It wasn't dark like usual though, tonight she had taken the time to find some controls for the lighting. A few stage lights lit the stage so brightly it was if the sun had left the world for the night and brought it's rays here. Her invisible audience had been left in the dark and as was the balcony she found herself slouched in a few hours later. Her suede coat found itself spilled on the red carpet next to her feet, her shoes were somewhere downstairs. She wore a pair of jeans and a long sleeved shirt, white was her usual color of choice.
There was a book in her hands, the book had been so well loved the binding was breaking and the gold print on the cover had worn away to a slight glimmer. With a sigh she turned over the page and continued reading.
Darkasian - November 20, 2005 07:58 PM (GMT)
Joe walked by the theater when he noticed the lights were on. Strange it's usually closed, he thought to himself. Joe was wearing a black t-shirt, black denim jeans, and his favorite leather jacket. He decided to investigate. As he entered Joe saw and felt a very young vampire was on stage. She was reading a book, he couldn't tell what it was. "Ummm, hello miss I just thought I'd drop by." He stepped towards the young vampiress and offered a hand shake. "My name is Joseph Kingsland. I moved here a few weeks ago." He looked the girl up and down, she was nearly as tall as he was. He liked the curves to her body and her dull tanned skin. He smiled slightly showing his fangs.
Rin - November 20, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
A glance from blue eyes was the first sign that she had acknowledged his presence a slight curve of lips was the second. Her left hand laid the book down in her lap as her right took his in a firm handshake, if he kissed the back of it, it wouldn't have been a surprise, but perhaps to intimate for a first impression. "My name is Rin Hart." She smiled but kept her fangs from view, it had become a habit working with mortals and all. "I've lived here for a couple of years. The Last Curtain is by far my favorite retreat in the city-" A pause as she glanced up to the lights then back to him. "The lighting isn't too noticable is it?"
Darkasian - November 20, 2005 08:20 PM (GMT)
Joe smiled a little wider at Rin letting his fangs show. He wasn't surprised by the firm grip of the girl, comes with the gift. "Well it's nice to meet you Rin. No the lights aren't too noticeable, at least for mortal eyes." He chuckled a little bit. Joe examined the book noticing that it was very worn. "What book are you reading?" He moved and leaned against the wall of the stage.
Rin - November 20, 2005 08:36 PM (GMT)
"Scarlet Letter." She lifted the book again and turned it over in her hands. "It's difficult to read ... but I've always liked the challenge." Rin glanced up to him as he leaned against the wall, he felt older, not too much like Gabriel or Nyx but just enough that he definetly had more experience. That had always seemed rather intimate to her too, the fact that as a vampire you felt the age of others and so many other things. Heat rose to her face before she could help herself and she suddenly wished she hadn't drank earlier.
She stood and dusted off her faded jeans before looking out to the red velvet seats. Her hair had been pulled back and unfortunately the neck of the sweater was low, which displayed the vast array of markings along her neck. "Have you drank tonight Mr. Kingsland?" Rin was being awfully polite this evening, maybe there was a change with the position of the moon.
Darkasian - November 20, 2005 08:47 PM (GMT)
Joe nodded, he tried reading The Scarlet Letter, but stopped because he couldn't figure it out. "No I haven't drank yet. Just call me Joe." He examined Rin from head to toe. "How long have you been a vampire?" Joe asked. He couldn't tell the exact age, but he knew she was very young. He noticed the marks on her neck, but didn't want to ask about it. He pushed off the wall and walked towards Rin.
Rin - November 20, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
She reached up as if to touch the bites over her neck but stopped. "About a year I guess ... not long after I moved here. But the man who bit me never intended to change me, in fact I think he was rather disappointed when I was." Rin touched her neck then and looked over to him as he came closer. "And you? How long has it been since your last sunrise?"
Picking up her jacket she punched her arms through the sleeves and pulled it over her shoulders. Fur fringed the hem and gently brushed against her skin promising warmth in the cold night. The collar hid the base of her neck and she hoped any questions along with it.
Darkasian - November 20, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
"It's been fifty years since I saw my last sunrise. The vampiress who turned me found me half dead in a park." Joe looked down remembering that horrible night. He was tempted to ask about the scars on her neck as she put on her jacket, but decided not to. "So what're you doing on a beautiful night like this?" He was going to ask if she felt like going out and having a drink, but decided to take things slow.
Rin - November 21, 2005 04:33 PM (GMT)
"So you weren't willing were you?" She stared at the back wall of the theatre not wanting to see him. Maybe he was willing, Rin had been there before, stuck between a rock and a hard place. It was either find out the worst of the disease later or accept eternal damnation right there.
Rin realized she was prying, he had been polite enough not to inquire about the scars along her neck. "I'm sorry." The words came softly. "You don't have to answer that if you don't want to."
Those blue eyes glanced to him, something behind them glimmered in a sense of amusement.
"Why do you ask Mr. ... I mean Joe."
Darkasian - November 23, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
Joe chuckled, he didn't mind answering the question. "Don't worry about it, I don't mind being asked about it. I had a choice, die and leave the woman I loved by herself, or take the gift and be with her as an immortal." He didn't want to pry into her scars, so he didn't ask. Joe walked right next to Rin, "I'm just curious, old habit from my mortal life."
Rin - November 23, 2005 04:37 PM (GMT)
That was romantic. Rin didn't say it out loud though, she smiled instead. "That was some lucky girl." She tugged at the coat around her and looked around. "Well as for what I had planned for this evening ... well ... I don't know. I came here to read ... and what to do from there I haven't really thought about it much."
Looking up to him she smiled again. "This might sound wierd but I've always liked habits in vampires, it shows that they still haven't completely lost who they were."
Darkasian - November 23, 2005 04:43 PM (GMT)
Joe returned Rin's smile. She was still very young, she'd keep her mortality longer than he would. "It's good to find a vampire who still has at least some humanity left in them." He thought about how he'd eventually lose his, and hoped he wouldn't lose Raymond in the process. "Well, ummm, would you like to join me for a little walk? It can get a little lonely without someone to talk to." Joe liked this girl, she was younger than him, and still had a lot of things he lost.
Rin - November 23, 2005 04:56 PM (GMT)
Rin shrugged slightly. "I've known about vampires all my life and I've hated them ... I try to hold on to some ounce of mortality ... I guess it feels like it separates me from them." In the past year Rin had met so many vampires, out of all of them Nyx had been the worst. If there were any signs of mortality left in her they must have been hidden in a dark place. Nyx died to a monster even worse than herself. Rin was fortunate to have a very short meeting with the girl.
She paused and nodded brushing back a few strands of auburn as they fell in her face. "A walk I would like." Joe was different, like so very few vampires she had met. It was good to have met him.
Darkasian - November 23, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
Joe smiled, the company was good. Even though he devoted most of himself to Raymond, he still had the urge to at least be near one of the fairer sex. "There're too many vampires here for my liking. Especially those that thrive on the pain of others." He looked down remembering his sire, Danielle, but pushed the thoughts down. He'd enjoy this little walk with Rin.
"Sorry to pry, but do you have any family? You don't have to answer if you don't want to." He smiled and opened the door for Rin.
Rin - November 23, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
Rin paused as he opened the door. Staring out into the cold she thought about his question, the scars along her neck began with her family as did many other things. She sighed and looked up to him. "I haven't had a family in a long time ..." Gabriel saw the end of them all. He was understanding enough not to ask why she had killed her father. Rin only hoped he didn't assume it was out of some morbid thrill.
There had never been a time when she actually told someone about her past, not even to Gabe. Maybe it would do some good for him to pry alittle, maybe when she thought about it later it wouldn't hurt as much. Rin looked up and met his smile with another before she stepped out into the cold. "You can ask about the scars if you want ... it's probably best if I talk about them to someone."
(just curious but have you read her history? you asked about her family ... it sounded like you did.)
Darkasian - November 23, 2005 06:12 PM (GMT)
((Yeah I did, just trying to come up with some conversation pieces.))
Joe nodded as Rin spoke, those scars on her neck caught his interest, but he didn't show it. "Okay, what are those scars from?" He made to pull down the collar of Rin's jacket, but stopped himself. He wouldn't do it without her permission.
Rin - November 23, 2005 06:49 PM (GMT)
As he reached for her collar Rin grasped it suddenly. It was good of him to stop. Rin paused and slowly removed her hand, then taking his she slipped it under the collar. "The first mark was from the vampire that sired my father, they were both insane. I got the second from Drake Del'Ran ... he offered to teach me ... but after he bit me I never saw him again." She shook her head "Theres more ... but I'd rather not say."
Darkasian - November 23, 2005 06:55 PM (GMT)
Joe nodded as he felt the scars. That was horrible that her own father would attack her. He slowly pulled his hand away from her scars. "Even though your father was insane, how could he attack you? His daughter?" Concern filled his eyes, and he moved his hand to rub Rin's shoulder.
Rin - November 23, 2005 07:05 PM (GMT)
"The same way he could attack my mother ..." In all honest truth she didn't know. It had always been her opinion that he hated her for her appearance. Never had she looked like either of her parents. Her father had red hair and green eyes and her mother had blonde hair with brown eyes ... both were pale. Rin took on the appearance of the vampire.
She gave a light smile and touched his hand. "What happened to that walk?"
Darkasian - November 23, 2005 11:26 PM (GMT)
Joe looked down at the ground and didn't say a word as he thought about how terrible Rin's father was. He felt better as Rin touched his hand. "Oh nothing, just waiting for you." He smiled and began to walk with Rin down the street. Sunrise was still far away, and he felt like walking around before sleep. "What happened to your mother?" He was kind of afraid to find out, but he felt he had to ask. "Don't answer if you don't want to." He continued to walk and thought about his own family, and how he was lucky to be raised in a loving family.
Rin - November 28, 2005 10:29 PM (GMT)
The air was cool and held the faint promise of snow, snuggling further into her jacket didn't stop the chill from reaching her skin though. "My father killed her when I was younger." The gaze those blue eyes held was distant as a memory played in the back of her mind. "He reappeared several months ago, thinking he could do the same to me. At the moment it felt great just to see how wrong he was ... but now I think a quick death was too forgiving."
Rin stopped and looked up to him. It seemed so strange to her that he couldn't quite wrap his mind around the events of her past, even if it was a horrible one. "You lived a good life I see." Better than hers anyway. She guessed that it all didn't seem as such a big deal to her because she had been there and seen everything. And sadly though, never saw how a real family functioned. Hesitantly she continued walking, "So before I bore you more tell me about yourself ... "
Darkasian - November 28, 2005 11:32 PM (GMT)
Joe nodded so Rin killed her father. That's horrible, but he kept it to himself. He thought about where to start. "Well first off I was born in Seoul, South Korea. I was adopted by a good family that saw me through many tough situations."
He smiled remembering his family. "I ended up going to college where I met my future wife." Joe gestured to the wedding band. "I was turned before I proposed to her because of an attack that left me half dead." Joe looked at Rin and noticed she seemed to be cold. He took off his leather jacket and wrapped it around her body.
"Hmmm, let's see what else? I was married to the mortal, her name was Sharon, and after ten years she was killed in a car accident, and I went into a state of depression and killing whoever I wanted, enjoying it every second." He looked down at his shoes and shuffled around nervously. "That's all you need to know about me right now." He started walking down the street. He walked slowly so Rin could catch up.
Rin - November 29, 2005 09:39 PM (GMT)
The leather did well to hold out the wind, she was still new enough that the cold affected her and old enough that warmth had become a fetish. "You will have to tell me what your family was like later, though for now I think a change in subject would do good for both of us." Her blue eyes watched him, a strong desire to take away what pain she saw drove the urge to offer anything to take his mind off of it.
As she kept up with his steps she realized how much larger he was than herself. She would always be small and very much aware of it. But it had always shocked her to see how the cloth tended to engulf her. Blood she had taken earlier rose to her cheeks in a wave of heat, creating a rosy tint against her skin. "Joe ... theres something I've been wanting to say to you." Slowly she extended a hand before proding his shoulder with a fingertip. "Tag."
Rin was gone as soon as she had said the word, taking off down the sidewalk.
Darkasian - November 29, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
Joe smiled it was a very long time since he played tag. He sprinted after Rin closing the distance in a short while and tapped her on the shoulder. "You're it!" He ran off and laughed. It felt good to get his mind off of the darker things in his life. He just felt like a kid again. There wasn't any other way to describe it.
Rin - November 29, 2005 10:09 PM (GMT)
Rin felt her jaw drop as he touched her shoulder. "Hey!" She stood there for maybe a second before sprinting after him, with some help from her blossoming vampiric abilties she caught up with him and took him to the ground. Laughing so hard now she fought to say Your it! but failed miserably.
Darkasian - November 29, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
He felt Rin take him to the ground he rolled around with her laughing the whole time. He thought he heard her say he was it, but didn't really hear it over their laughing. He rolled and he sat on top of Rin. "Well, hehe, looks like, hehe, I won this!" He barely managed to get out before bursting into laughter again.
Rin - November 29, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
She took a breath and nodded. "I think you did too." Closing her eyes she tried to hold back the laughter, it worked until she opened her eyes and saw him laughing. It was good to see his mind on something else, it felt good to know that weight had been removed.
Darkasian - November 29, 2005 10:40 PM (GMT)
Joe kept on laughing and got off of Rin. He offered his hand to her and helped her up. He took a deep breath and calmned himself as he looked at Rin. "That was the most mindless fun I've had for a long time." He looked at her and thought about how attractive she was, but he kept it to himself. He had enough loves to last an eternity. He laughed lightly as he thought about it.
Rin - November 29, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
Rin smiled as she stood with his help. "Then you'll have to visit me more. I have mindless fun on a regular basis." The laughter had ceased but a grin lingered. Their little game had taken her mind off many things, including the cold which didn't matter much anymore. The inside of the coat had warmed with the warmth she had stolen earlier. Quietly she looked around, eyes glimmering with the remements of laughter. "So what now?"
Darkasian - November 29, 2005 11:03 PM (GMT)
Joe thought about what to do. "Ummm, I don't know." He said smiling, "Do you feel like just walking around the city?" He asked. To tell the truth he had no clue. He couldn't really think of anything to do. He chuckled still thinking of how good the little game of tag was.
Rin - November 29, 2005 11:21 PM (GMT)
Rin nodded. "Sure why not."
(do you just want to end it here and have another rp later?)
