Title: In The Quiet Of The Night

Jonas Aremar - November 1, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
It was near midnight and the Subway would be closing within the hour, Jonas knew, but he hadn't been planning on leaving after it closed; he figured that he would be able to catch one of the subway-workers off their guard for a quick dinner, if he was lucky enough to not chicken-out. That had actually been happening alot lately. Jonas had started regretting the things he had done. He was even starting to look at blood differently.

That's bloody improper for a vampire, that is, pitying my meals like this. I mean, what the hell is wrong with me?

He of course knew what was wrong with him. Jonas was getting too attatched to certain mortals and they were making him start to question who he was...

"That's it," Jonas muttered to himself, sitting down on one of the benches in the empty subway system, "I totally need a good beating..."

Aspen stepped off the Subway, shivering with the chill of the night. It was quiet this night...not as many people around. There was no harmonica playing tonight, but she found herself thinking about the beautiful noise it made and the enchantment it had on her.

She was lucky enough to catch the last train. Her own car was still in the shop. She was starting to get upset about that. They seemed to be finding all sorts of things wrong with it. She shook her head, these day everything cost so much.

She wasn't paying attention as she was walking, as lost in thought as she was. She just wanted to get home and quick. The warning from the night before was still ringing in her mind, though she didn't know why she took it to heart. It wasn't as if she hadn't been told the same thing before.

"Ouch! Oh sorry," she slammed into someone, hard. Her eyes met with a young boy, but despite his age, their height was close.

"Oh!" She was slightly surprised he was there, though she knew he shouldn't be. "So we meet again, kiddo. What are you doing out so late?" She knew the answer, but that didn't keep her from asking.

((Didn't realize he was sitting down...sorry))

"I was looking for -I mean- going out to dinner." Jonas said with a shrug, looking away. The blood-lust was upon him and the last thing he needed was to go all fangy on this mortal...

"Here," Jonas said standing up and pulling his trench coat off and putting it around the girl, "Your shivering is just about going to drive me insane." he said with a good-natured grin, his body not at all bothered by the fearsome cold.

He wore a black t-shirt that showed just how thin and pale he was, though his skin was flawless like any other vampires. He also wore his Greek-Fisherman's cap, blue-jeans and his combat-boots and the only thing he lakced was his usual tye-die backpack.

Aspen gave a small smile as he put his coat around her. She was cold, she had to admit and it was sweet that he had offered it to her. She pulled it tight around her, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath in. The smell of his coat was a lot nicer than the stuffy subway. She just hoped he wouldn't be cold.

"Well, not to be rude, but mind if I join you...for dinner I mean?" This wasn't an offer because she pitied him...not this time. As she looked at him, something in his eyes told her that he was a lot older than he seemed. She knew it sounded crazy, even in her own mind, but she suddenly felt a new respect for him.

"Certainly," the 'boy' said with a couple of nods, shoving his hands in his pockets. he was hungry for blood, but it could wait. He had lived for long enough as a vampire to be able to control the blood-lust. "I'm new to Demaitre, and you are the lady, so please, just lead the way." he said with another respectful nod. His run-in with Rowen had gotten him into a mannerful mood.

"I-I can pay." Jonas added sheepishly. If he had been living, hsi probably would have blushed. "Inheritance and all that rot, you know..." he said going no further.

Aspen Raen - November 1, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
Aspen laughed.

"So you think I know this town?" She shook her head. "I don't go out much...except for lately." A puzzled look came over her face and she seemed lost in thought. What had caused that change in her, she didn't know. She shook her head free of these thoughts and turned her attention back to the boy she now recognized as a man that stood in front of her.

"If you don't mind, I was just headed back to my apartment, do you want to join me? I need to get off these feet."

She pointed to her boots. That night she had worn a flowing red skirt and a white tank top that hugged tightly to her pale skin. Her boots were black as well and were up to her calves. She wore black and white striped socks, which seemed to be her trademark. She always wore striped socks. Her arms were covered up the her elbows with bracelets, though they were now hidden because of his trench coat. Surprisingly he was almost three inches taller than her, which suited her well because now she was warm. Though she was twenty-one, she looked like a teenager dressed as she was, which may or may not have been a good thing.

"I mean, if you don't want to, that's okay." She refrained from using the word kiddo and instead looked at him, her eyes pleading for his company, though she tried to keep the loneliness from seeping into her voice.

"Of course, m'lady." Jonas said with a wink, pulling a fag and his Zippo from his jeans-pocket. "Sorry about the coat. It has more sentimental value for me as apposed to the fact that it's a size too big." he grinned, bobbing his head up and down as he took a drag on his cigarette.

Yes, real sentimental, seeing as how you stole it off of some dude you killed. he thought to himself, smirking.

Aspen couldn't stop the smile on her face. She felt glad that he had accepted.
"No, the coat is nice. It's warm." She pulled it tighter around her and buried her face in it, smiling. It made her feel safe and hidden. She usually had her own coat, she didn't like to be noticed, so when she wore it, she felt like her body was hidden. When she didn't, she got too many looks. She didn't know if it was the out-of-town appearance, or what.

She reached up and pulled her long black hair from the coat. It had grown a lot in the past year and she had decided to keep it at her waist. Nervously, she bit her lip and ran her fingers through her hair. Was it wrong to invite a thirteen year old to her apartment late at night? Now that she thought about it, it might seem a bit awkward to others. She didn't let it bother her, for the moment, she was just glad for the company.

"Okay, well let's go..." She took his hand, tugging on it slightly. Her pretty green eyes lit up with excitement as they normally did and she looked like a child once again.

((I'm going to start a new post in my apartment, if that is okay))

Jonas Aremar - November 1, 2005 04:08 AM (GMT)
With a laugh at her enthusiasm, Jonas followed the older (yet younger,) woman towards her home.

((OOC: Yup go ahead and start that.))
