Title: In The Area
Description: (Closed RP)
Kelthos - September 17, 2005 07:37 AM (GMT)
The day was a cold one. Rain had poured from the sky earlier, covering the city streets in a cold and thick layer of pure mud and dirt. Darkness had taken over these lands since the fleeing of the sun, hiding beneath the layers of dark storm clouds gathering above the lands of this place. Yet the Dark was not cocky, they knew their short reign would end as soon as the sun decided to make it's own glorious return. They were subject to vanish at the appearing this great ball of light, subject to that fate until the one day the darkness ruled again. Perhaps that day would come soon. Cold winds whistled throughout the darkness that layered the streets in dark shadows, the cold breezes smashing their way into the homes of men to keep them in their blankets, to keep them shivering throughout the day. No matter how much they tried to hide themselves within the warmth of their quilts, the cold wind would always find a way to haunt their skin, to raise goose bumps on the very flesh. And on this very moment, it howled with a certain hideousness. It howled in a dark revere for the death that had recently taken over this part of town, for all the negative emotions that had spread through the veins of the section of town. Anger and hate, pain and anguish, brutality and total disregard ran wild through this part of the city alleyways. It was just as common to find a friend at your doorstep to perhaps find a knife at your throat and a hand grasping for your wallet.
The two on the rooftop went un-noticed for the time being. Everything in this rotten district was always on the move, for it was harder to catch a moving target. People did not notice anyone else but themselves, for people in this area knew that they had to watch out for themselves. No time was spent in one place, for standing still would be a signal that you were ready to be robbed. No time could be spent listening to the cries of others, for those cries were not important. The only thing important to a person was his or her self. That was the law in these parts. After everything had become so violent, after everyone had lost hope... The area had changed into what existed as of now. It had become a den for criminals. It had become a place that the strong preyed on the weak. Even now, yet another heartbeat stopped, on the roof of anothner nearby building. Yet another soul perished, in the shaded ceiling-top where a small patch of the night had hid the murderess deed. One silent scream had echoed from the shadow. And then the heart stopped, to join all the other's who had perished this deathly night.
For what order reigned in this part of the city? Not a single one. Perhaps a few remained to watch over the night that was taking over bit by bit, but not one had acted. Cop stations were merely a few dozen miles away, but not a single man had been sent. Perhaps they hadn't heard of it though. No. They wold never know of it. They would never know of the vampire's that haunted this life. That haunted this accursed area.
If anything, one vampire who held no bonds was interested in the locals. It was unsure as to where the actual interest lay... but who dared asked? The people below the rooftops were too busy surviving in this muck of their life. The second occupant, a unknown vampire caughed nervously, breaking the cold silence and suddenly speaking.
"Why are you here, seriously? You are evil. You don't help people."
Kelthos coldly smiled. He wasn't much of a figure. At the moment, his stance was at ease, calmly leaned agaisnt the small wooden hut that made it's stand at the top of the random building they were standing on. As normal, his stance indicated a certian ease, yet was a complete lie. He was ready. More than most knew. Certianly more than the human knew.
The vampire was in plain sight, out in the middle of the rooftop. He wore a simple gray cloak that completely hid every other aspect of his feature. he stood tall, at about 5'8. You could see the twisted expression on his face, the look of fear implanted on his handsome features. Blue eyes peeked out from a veil of blonde hair. He was most likely a ladies man. Unfourtnately, Kelthos wasn't much of one for manly charm.
As for Kelthos, a trenchcoat shrouded his form, slightly hiding him from eyes, keeping him protected from the night cold. Shadows danced on the inside and outside of the dark fabric, making their presence known. Underneath the folds of the coat, only a few knew what was hidden. A dark blade perhaps, or perhaps not. Iy was hidden at all times, yet sometimes it wasn't even there. Who knew where it lay? From what the eye could see, a normal black shirt and jeans completed a Gothic look.
A cold voice echoed out, aimed directly at the vampire man, intended to answer his question. Yellow eyes gazed a whole through the other vampire, staring through his soul.
"You are pretty much right. I usually kill people."[I]

There we stand about to fly.
Peeking down over land,
Parachute behind.
What was that moment for, which we live,
Without a parachute about to dive?
Find myself convincing.
Blindly falling faster.
How easy.
Oh, know the place I'm leaving,
And the rest is just gone.
Colton was walking home. The man was definitely out of his mind, waltzing down the wrong side of down in a crisp, white collared shirt tucked into nice, charcoal coloured slacks and covered with a matching suit jacket. His tie was undone, slung around his neck loosely, and his feet were protected with black, high top Converse, which were the only two items on him that suggested he wasn't going to work, but rather, coming home from it. He was also clutching a nifty little gadget in his hand, humming out the tune to his iPod Shuffle's current song.
Oh, the adoration,
But how much strength does it take?
For exploration?
For split decision?
Or are you stronger to remain?
Find myself convincing.
Blindly falling faster.
How easy.
Oh, know the place I'm leaving,
And the rest is just gone.
Colton had a walk to him that suggested he wasn't afraid, or that he didn't care. He had a walk to him that was almost daring, just begging for someone to come out and try and harm him. He was full of himself tonight, what with his showing up of Octavia at work, and his hit of an entertainment idea. Their new singer, Ana Bradford, was amazing, and with that pianist he had pulled out of some old liquored up band, he had himself a twosome to start with. But tonight, oh, no no no. He had outdone himself. He had found the city's best bassist and guitarist, and formed himself a mini band up on the casino stage. All four of them, singing and playing and they filled the lobby with some great hits. They were almost as good as those Mimic-Alls. Maybe he should get those guys back to play for the Casino...
It crept up on me,
Ignored all my pleas.
Begging to leave,
No justice to maim me.
Fell out of the sky,
Cease it to be.
Without a reply,
Gravity fails me.
Colton glanced up, spotting the two men standing on the rooftop. There wasn't much he could think about such a pairing. Could be anyone, could be anything. He didn't take notice of their talk, but rather continued his jaunty walk, Guster's Parachute soaking into his every pore. He was lost in his self-confidence and his music. Just another typical college kid going for a stroll.
And when I awoke,
I knew what was real.
I hope to convince you,
Lies they all torture me.
Opened the door,
Knew what was me.
I finally realized,
Parachute over me.
Parachute over me.
Parachute over me.

Kelthos almost uttered a few more words, his loips parting to let the sound flow forth. Yet, he froze, his mouth stopping in mid-motion, soon snapping shut. He sighed slightly and trotted forward, each hand nestled away in a trenchcoat pocket, his strides taking him to the edge of the building-top. He looked down, not really bending or crouching, simply inclining his head to catch the one below in his intense gaze. The idiot was humming. Kelthos let another sigh fly loose from his lips, spinning around to confront the other vampire on the roof.
"And you don't EXPECT people like that to get killed anyway?"
His voice was still icy, still harbored within a block of pure ice. His eyes stared away at the other NightWalker, still analyzing and judging him, still picking apart every little detail about him. He took a step forward, placing himself closer the the vampire, the being taking a step back in response to Kelthos's step forward. "What are you talking...?" Kelthos jerked his head backwards, indicating the brightly dressed person on the streets. Neither vampire moved for a few briefs moments after this, then Kelthos sighed yet again, stepping aside to allow the other vampire an open path to the view.
The other vampire silently stepped forward, walking up to occupy the same space Kelthos had owned a few moments before. Kelthos himself was already lost in thought, gazing down at the man below. The other vampire slowly looked down at the walking man, who appeared to be... happy. He strained his eyes, trying to catch a good look at the face, his vampire eyes quite accustomed to the simple task. "...He is humming." He turned to look at Kelthos, wondering if he was still staring a hole through the being below.
And Kelthos was gone.
Already halfway down the building, Kelthos paused for a few seconds on the fire ladder rungs, his booted feet pausing in their journey. He let his forhead rest agaisnt the cold metal of the rungs, letting the cooling sensation flow through his head. He wasn't too sure what he was going to do with the... college prep. Drink from him...? Who really knew? His current path would bring him around the side of the building and into the guy's direct path. Why not try, and see what would happen? He hadn't really met any of the local DayWalker's.
In a burst of unseeable speed, he was at the bottom of the ladder rungs, his boots making miniscule clicking noises agaisnt the metal, then falling silent as soon as they hit the ground in the alley. Another meager burst of speed and he was at the end of the alleyway, ready to simply step out. Ready at any moment. And so he laid in wait, leaning agaisnt the wall, completely unseeable until one passed him, his body hidden by the corner. He wasn't to sure exactly where the guy was, but he could hear the humming, coming closer.

Colton didn't hear the other vampires move. He heard nothing but the fading of Guster, and the new chords being strummed. Formulated. A new song being birthed into his ears, letting him bear silent witness to the sounds of Dishwalla.
I rest my head
Between the bed and sky.
Download my dread.
Disarm my mind, make it dry.
As the Manager of the Entertainment department, he was in charge of both shows and music. Music was what he enjoyed researching more. Music was a passion he hadn't had an excuse for before. But, now his life was music. He had no family to take care of. His sister was dead. His niece was stolen away from him. His girlfriend, or the closest thing to a girlfriend he had ever had, was insane, and seemed to hate him now. And Jake? What of Jake? Had Hannah really killed him, or could Jake be out there, wandering the night streets? No. No, Colton had seen the body. Jake was as dead as Codi. As dead as all his hopes and dreams. As dead as the very grey streets he was walking on.
Nothing in motion, and I’m satisfied.
No disappointment, until I wake up.
Don’t want to wake up.
Colton wasn't happy. He wasn't even content. Work left him happy for a five-minute walk to the bad side of town. Now that he was amidst the greyed out wood crates, the garbage and the bricks and the cement, he wasn't happy. Now that the mellow and depressing tracks of music poured into his head, he wasn't happy. Now that his real life caught up with him, he wasn't happy. He hummed along to Until I Wake Up, trying to keep his head empty of all thoughts of reality.
Into clear space.
Vivid vision, see her shape.
At my bedside, beam up my mind please.
And that was all he wanted. A release from life. Beam up my mind please. Oh, know the place I'm leaving, and the rest is just gone. Reality, gone. It crept up on me, ignored all my pleas. No disappointment, until I wake up. He'd never wake up. Lies they all torture me. Lies were all that got him from day to day. Tomorrow would be better. Today was as bad as it would get. And when I awoke, I knew what was real. I knew there was no disappointment in dreams.
Why did all my dreams fail me?
Nothing in motion, and I’m satisfied.
No disappointment, until I wake up.
Nothing in motion, and I’m satisfied.
No disappointment, until I wake up.
Don’t want to wake up.
Don’t want to wake up.
Colton walked past the alleyway, jaunty in step, sobered in mind. He didn't even feel the vampire's presence. He had become so out of tune with life. He was almost happy. Life would stop, wouldn't it? It would stop. The over burdened youth could be happy, couldn't he?
