Title: New Blood

Morrigan - May 11, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
Amadahy was tired and lost. She lost her job, thus lost her home. She was beginning to lose her mortal friends. The life of a vampire changed her world more than she thought it would.

No bother. I am immortal, now. Nothing can stop me. Except other vampires...

The young bloodsucker pulled her tench coat tight around her. Her tongue ring clicked in her mouth, nervously. With her chin held high she rounded the corner and looked up at the place of Nephim.

She gasped at the sight of the church. "Charming," she mumbled. Amadahy wasn't lying. The gothic girl always had a taste for the strange. Her tongue ran across her painted lips. "Here goes nothing."

Her high-heeled boots clicked on the sidewalk as she walked up to the doors. She could hear silence inside. Slowly, she placed her pale hands on a door's latch and shoved it opened. Darkness welcomed her. She closed the door behind her and froze. She was afraid.

"Hello? Anyone home? I'm looking for shelter," Amadahy spoke into the silence.

Skirr - May 15, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
Colton was in the same boat as this newcomer. Everything about his mortal life had slipped away, or was still slipping. His friends had left, but not due to his death, due to something tangled in with being a vampire. The one thing he had that she hadn't, though, was a home. A home, and a three year old niece to look after. Why he spent most his time here, in the old worn down church, was another matter.

Colton could hear her long before he could see her, her shoes click-clacking on the pavement. So sneaky, he mocked to himself. He was working on the floor of the alter, a laptop in front of him, and a bajillion papers scattered around. He was always working when he was here. Working or sleeping.

"Hello." His voice was soft, but it carried loud enough for her to hear. Colt shut the laptop, and picked up a few of the scattered papers. "I assume you're here for the Nephim..." Of course, when anyone asked for a place to stay, that's what he assumed. Mortals didn't like the church. Too... Dirty.

Morrigan - May 16, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
"Y-yes," Amadahy answered, then she hissed at herself for suttering. "I'm new to the Dark world and need a place to stay. At least, until I can support myself, again."

I hate asking for help! I'm a vampire for goodness sake. I should be able to do anything.

Amadahy licked her lips and slipped her hands into her coat pockets. Poor Amadahy looked liked a sad, little child. To the vampires, she was. Her green eyes scanned the place for others, but couldn't see any. Only Colton. She, slowly, headed for him, trying not to let her shoes click on the ground. The church amplified everything.

"So, is it possible I may stay here? Or should I be asking someone else?"

Skirr - May 31, 2005 02:41 AM (GMT)
Colton continued to pick up all the papers in silence. One track mind, you could call it, and right now the track was set to cleaning up all the valuable documents he had. Of course, contrary to thinking them valued, he shoved them between both flaps of the laptop, stood, and shoved the laptop under the alter with a foot.

Now, tracks could shift, and all attention was turned to this... Lost girl.

"Sure..." He watched her feet as they walked towards him. Click, click, and she was trying to muffle them. That was visible. "Don't worry about the noise; I'm sure everyone who's here already knows you are." Oh, shame on him! Such a jerk tonight! Why, though, was a good question to ask. It was against Colton's nature to be so cold. Something was troubling him. While he ridiculed her for trying to cover something up, he hypocritically was doing the same thing. That was visible.

"All rooms are down in the catacombs. You're welcome to pick one of the unused ones." Colt glanced over at a door against the back of the church, faintly visible through the shadows. "That's the door. Watch the stairs."

Morrigan - June 1, 2005 11:16 PM (GMT)
Amadahy had to stop her eyes from rolling. She did not like Colton's attitude. Not that her attitude was ever good. The young vampiress ignored his comment and smiled. There was no need to bit back. Especially, If you are so young.

"Thank you," she said, softly, "I'm sorry I disturbed you." She eyeballed his laptop stuffed with papers. "Are there a lot of vampires in this coven?" Amadahy just had to ask. Her curiousity had no disipline.

Gently, she removed her noisy footwear. For her sake, the shoes were killing her feet. Since she was drawn into the darker world her extra sensitive nerves were a blessing and a curse. Even as an Undead she could feel pain. She sighed with relief. Her cold feet welcomed the cold floor.

Skirr - June 2, 2005 01:27 AM (GMT)
Colton wasn't older than she was. In fact, he was only about a year an undead, but the difference between him and her was that he had connections. He had prestige, just on some title. And, while he couldn't back up any of the prestige himself (As most of it was made up in 'My coven leader is better than YOURS' talk), he still had it.

"There were more than there are now, but, for the most part, there's quite a few. Why? You considering joining?" Part of him didn't want her to. That, of course, was the lazy part that didn't want to enter in all her paperwork to the laptop. But, for the most part, a new member meant a larger coven, meaning more strength and safety in the more numbers. So, regardless of the paperwork and her noisey shoes, it'd probably be better in the long run.

And, look! She lost the shoes. Colt physically relaxed some. Mortals came poking about at times when they heard noise from within, and he hated explaining why he was there. At two in the morning.

Morrigan - June 2, 2005 04:46 AM (GMT)
"Yes, actually, I was hoping to join," Amadahy replied, "If it's not a problem. I've heard about Nephim for awhile. Do I have to pass a test, or trial, or something? I'd be honored to become a part of something...bigger." Her words trailed off. "Bigger" was only a whisper. She meant every word. Amadahy only likes to lie to her prey. She was just walking, quietly, down the church, admiring the old building. Thinking.

I really do like this place. I could be happy just staying here. This could be my home. It would be nice to finally have a home.

Amadahy was barely in the church for a moment. Lost in thought and memory. She could only remember bits of her life before becoming a vampire. She lingered there for a minute, then, suddenly, snapped back. Her eery, green eyes landed back on Colton. Her shoes were swinging in her hand, loosely. She waited for an answer.

Skirr - June 3, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
Colton smiled slightly. Of course that was her intention. What other vampire would wander all the way over to this church at night for anything else? Logical, of course, but not always plausible. Lily was the lead Enashe, and she came poking about here. But, of course, that's because she had to see how her little fledgling was fairing.

"No trouble. Just means your one night stay becomes permenant... I assume you're not living elsewhere?" Why she would come here if she was living elsewhere was beyond him, so he'd keep assuming things about her.

"Catacombs are down there. Make yourself at home." Didn't look like he was going to rush off and give her the grand tour. Not like there was much to see. She was already enjoying the church; what else was there?

Morrigan - June 6, 2005 11:40 PM (GMT)
"No, I'm not staying anywhere else," Amadahy said, "Do you live here?"

Amadahy slowly made her way to the door, not caring if Colton was following behind her. The floor was flithy, of course. And the windows could use a cleaning. Some benchs were broken. Even the altar needed repair. Maybe she could fix the place up...

No! What am I thinking? Leave the church be.

She stopped moving for a moment and stared at her dirty feet. Why did she keep having mortal thoughts? Thoughts of life, rebirth, and cleansing. She shook the ideas from her head. Hopely, such things would disappear with age. Her feet started towards the door, again. Right before exiting she turned to Colton.

"Thank you for your help. I hope to see you around." Amadahy sighed. She needed to stop acting so human.

Skirr - June 7, 2005 09:03 PM (GMT)
Colton shook his head slightly. "I live a few blocks away." He liked his apartment. What's more was his niece. He wasn't going to raise her in the catacombs of some abandoned church. It'd be suspicious. Besides, he was hoping she'd grow up knowing nothing of vampires. It was for the best.

The church was fairly clean when compared to what it had originally looked like. At least now one could walk from the back of the church to the front without having to worry about nails and loose boards and the likes.

Colton nodded. "Be seeing you. Oh, and welcome to the Nephim. Don't cause trouble." But he doubted that she would. Girls, no offense to the sex, generally had less of a need to go out and ruin the coven's reputation. Colton let her go off herself. He still had some papers to finish before he could leave the church.

Morrigan - June 8, 2005 12:40 AM (GMT)
"You don't have to worry about me," Amadahy said, then she turned to leave. She would try not to cause trouble, though nothing is ever certain. In the mortal world she was a problem, maybe here, in the darker world, she would fit in more nicely.

She yawned as she stepped through the door. She'd try to find a nice spot to rest. Somewhere in a dark corner, alone. Tomorrow she could find soft sheets and pillows to make it feel more like home. She had to sell everything else she and her master owned. Money wasn't that important, but it provided options.

"Later," she said, quietly, as she descended. No need to talk loudly among vampires.
