Title: Bands of posters here
Description: with free music
Cleanville Tziabatz - January 20, 2005 11:26 AM (GMT)
Hopefully I can add more choices if they emerge. I haven't listened to (almost) any of these, so I am not voting yet. I may never vote. It is more about making a list of these bands than about voting anyway. That said, feel free to vote.

They get enough plugs from my sig line. Finally getting a chance to do some downloading tonight. Was hoping to have some kind buds, but looks I'll be sober after all.

Why not hyperlink your sig for even easier access? I'm sure no-one here would mind... (says the man with the hyperlink in his signature :P )

I hate this situation. Which is why I take measures to ensure it rarely happens to me. You mean you can't even find any Cross Canadian Ragweed?
Cleanville Tziabatz - January 22, 2005 12:49 AM (GMT)
We are almost never able to get any. Most months nothing at all. O well. We ended up watching the Wizard of Oz synced to Darkside of the Moon. Its cool for about 20 minutes. Time for our walk.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/5/richardofhumemusic.htm (It is unclear whether "How Many Years?" and "My Swelling Heart" are alt titles of the same song)
|
Yeah sorry about that- a bit of confusion thrown in by myself. The title is "How Many Years?".
- I tried to upload "My Swelling Heart" on my dial-up when my mother-in-law rang halfway through and now it seems to be in Soundclick limbo. I'll have another go tonight...
Cleanville Tziabatz - February 9, 2005 08:42 AM (GMT)
Some of you songwriters may want to check out last.fm. This is a site that you can upload your music for streaming access. I don't like streaming (somehow in my mind I am still on dial-up), but apparently some ppl do). The lastfm site is a bit unprofessional/glitchy, but it kind of makes it more charming.
Anyway, I put a Farces Wanna Mo LP up there:

Cleanville Tziabatz - March 25, 2005 07:57 AM (GMT)
Well, I finally got everybody's songs downloaded (even the streaming ones!). 99 in all. Will start the process of listening this week. Judgment to follow.
Divvey - March 26, 2005 03:53 AM (GMT)
Mr Clean, what of my mix of the "New Years Honours Greeting", which you so kindly hosted??
S5 not Manc - March 26, 2005 01:08 PM (GMT)
Well I have heard some stuff from bands, who have members of members of the board(say that when you're pissed). Anyway like I said heard quite a bit already and not actually going to vote yet but I really do like Bezenby's stuff, like I said need to listen to the rest before I vote.
Are you sure this isn't for personal recognition Cleanville? :P
Cleanville Tziabatz - March 26, 2005 02:08 PM (GMT)
Personal recognition is probably some part, but I have been interested in home recording as both a participant and a fan for many, many years. I am genuinely interested in what the other posters are recording, part because the home recorders I correspond with are not FFs and also partly because I am curious about any home recording projects of almost anybody's.
So far, my general impression is that the FFs music original music tends to have a great sense of sonics, but not much in the way of melody* or songwriting.** It will probably take me another month or two, but I will gradually get a more refined idea and hopefully even pick out someone to vote for as the best.
FOOTNOTE:
* One exception I already know of is Dumbwaiters (Repeaters band) -- their sense of melody (and groove) is very good.
** Had to laugh at D's comment about teenagers on THC.

You did that? :applaud:
Didn't really rate the show though.
Cleanville Tziabatz - March 30, 2005 12:06 AM (GMT)
Early favorites: Big Block 454.
They have one of the best song titles I've heard in a while: "John Coltrane Wouldn't Have Called It Ping Pong" (good song, too-- seems pretty typical of their ouevre)
Haven't really heard most of the bands yet, but so far it is BB454 in a walk.
Bagrec - March 30, 2005 07:26 AM (GMT)
I should point out that I've taken the recent Richard of Hume tracks off Soundclick because they're getting an official release soon. The stuff left on there is at least 22 years old!
Hats of to Cleanville for sorting this out though :applaud:

Havent got a computer at home any longer, so cant give anything a listen sadly.
But if anyone's interested, heres a tune we've got online, possibly going to be pressed, hopefully.
Melodic breakcore, noise, gabba influence rearing its head as always, repetative towards the end for live mixing purposes. Its been played out a few times in live p.a's and had a good dancefloor reaction, give it a blast. The children of death valley:

The song "Jalma's Intro" sounds like it has the music for "How I Wrote Elastic Man" buried deep within it.
Snake Eye - April 15, 2005 03:36 PM (GMT)
Cleanville whats the best of all the other soundclick stuff you've listened to.
I don't fancy trawling through a load of shite.
Cleanville Tziabatz - April 15, 2005 04:14 PM (GMT)
My favorite bands I have found on SoundClick (or similar sites) are: Clearlight Industries and Chris Fitts. Both are good, but neither is must hear. Big Block 454 is better than either and their songs continue to impress as they come up on the old computer jukebox.
Of bands with free music at their own sites (these are slightly more famous bands), my favorites are Centromatic, Michael J. Bowman and Self.
worthless recluse - April 15, 2005 04:45 PM (GMT)
Chokchai have been inactive for a while... I now play with a band called United Bible Studies. :)
http://homepage.eircom.net/~desertedvillage/ubs.htmlCan't listen to the samples of other bands... work pc guy...
Cleanville Tziabatz - April 15, 2005 04:49 PM (GMT)
My friend (and sometimes bandmate) Blind Junior College used to lead a band called Vacation Bible School.

Not soundclick, but for those with broadband, the Bamboo Bar Karaoke Channel on the Winamp tv streams is soooo great.
marvell78 - October 12, 2005 09:39 PM (GMT)
didnt realise the sites were being rated!!!!
tracks are old
now i am going to put new ones on to get the record straight!!
but it is a good site, easy to use..problem for me is no boradband yet so it takes an eternity to put a song up
but that 0% is a good stimulus lol
anybody know if the rumours about the fall coming to ireland are true, i heard they were coming to cork in november?
ryaneno - November 13, 2009 12:54 AM (GMT)
Painful Defecation has a new CD out and it's full of win!
