Title: Does anyone else have "time away" ???
j temperance - November 23, 2009 11:16 PM (GMT)
...as in, completely abstaining from any Fall listening for considerable amounts of time? They have always been and always will be my favourite group, and I always find myself returning to them, but I have to admit that astonishingly I haven't listened to any Fall stuff for probably about 6 months! :o
..then Slippy Floor landed on my doormat...after about 5 or 6 listens I'm diggin out all the albums again. But this isn't the first time I've had a Fall break so-to-speak.
Anyone else go through this routine?

Absolutely. I usually have a Fall binge around new releases.

My 'times away' tend to last a month then I have withdrawal symptoms :D

I took a break but it went too far. I didn't listen to the Fall at all when I got married as my other half hated them. After a few years I started to listen to them again and very soon after I split from my partner. I found I had missed the Fall and what they mean to me much more than I had imagined and to be honest I feel the same every time I hear them (strictly daily now, taking no risks) :D

No.
Apart from 1999 - 2003. Other than that I've been remarkably consistent.

Can't imagine there has ever ever been a complete month (or maybe quarter ) without any Fall listening for me since January 1980.
Obviously bootlegs contributed a lot to a considerable increase during the last 5 years.

1990-2000 was my break – was recruited to the insidious very daft dance/clubbing scene of the time – what a mess that was.
I've not listened to anything but fall for the past 18 months solid and feel better for it.

no Fall break. Listen to summat every day. Sometimes more sometimes less.
GrumpyNorthernGit - November 24, 2009 05:09 PM (GMT)
Actually, I probably should take more breaks.
I find that when I play alot of Fall, I revert to my natural state of not tolerating fools gladly in the same way as MES doesn't. If I don't listen to the Fall, I am probably (marginally) nicer to be around.
Perhaps I wasn't cut out for work in Customer Services

I frequently take breaks of up to 3 months as I find it makes coming back to their music a great experience.

Not yet, but I've only been a fan for four-ish years. Maybe I'll get sick of them soon. :D
