Title: eMusic's album of the decade
Description: Top 30

Kapitän - November 23, 2009 10:38 PM (GMT)
eMusic has put together their top 100 records of the decade. A bit less predictable than many others - and of course restricted by what albums they actually are allowed to sell.
A few comps with older material in their list as well.

You can read the remaining 70 on their site.

oh, and pick 3 :)

imaglasgowmanmyself - November 23, 2009 11:07 PM (GMT)

Yep, imaglasgowmanofffewwords said all the words I need to hear.
Three top hole LP's there.

Neal Cassady - November 23, 2009 11:35 PM (GMT)
Also rather enjoyed:

The Strokes - Is This It?
The Mountain Goats - The Sunset Tree
Sigur Rós - Agaetis Byrjun
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
Sufjan Stevens - Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lake State
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People

Hotel Amnesia - November 24, 2009 10:08 AM (GMT)
Unfortunately, don't know too many on the list but with the half-a-dozen I do will go with:

Mountain Goats
Interpol
Arctic Monkeys

Cleanville Tziabatz - December 3, 2009 11:04 PM (GMT)
I voted for The Hold Steady, but think that Almost Killed Me is actually a better lp than Separation Sunday.

Buy Kurious! - December 3, 2009 11:06 PM (GMT)
From the list: M.I.A, Interpol and Antony and the Johnsons.

Kid A is miles better than In Rainbows.

Orphistic - December 4, 2009 02:29 AM (GMT)
A toss up between Sigur Rós - Agaetis Byrjun or Saint Vincent - Actor. Both great pieces of in depth work.

I only like the first album here, though I doubt I will ever play my copy of it again.
Thank you.

Sven Hassel Schmuck - December 6, 2009 12:08 PM (GMT)
Voted for M.I.A.

I liked quite a few of these to begin with but the olny one I still play regularly is that one. it seems to offer up new treasure every time I listen :)

The new album is going to be something spectacular...

On edit. 3 you say? In which case, Interpol and Antony and The Johnsons.

Is the MIA album any good?
She just makes me think of students dancing to that one with The Clash sample, and throwing gang signs at each other in time to the "gunshots".

It could be interpreted like that, I suppose :D

It was seen as cooler than cool for a while and I purposely avoided it for that reason. When I finally heard it, via my daughter I loved it immediately. It's inventive, funny and lyrcially excellent and all of the tunes are memorable.

Great driving music too :)

duckpin236 - December 6, 2009 03:24 PM (GMT)
Fugazi is the only one I voted for

You're talking about "Paper Planes", which isn't on Arular, it's on Kala. -_-

The best song on Arular is probably "Bucky Done Gun": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVX0sVMGCAo

Kala is the better album, I think.

Sigur Rós - Agaetis Byrjun; always something new to hear.
Stands alone.

I think that there was a better Mountain Goats album this decade.

Cleanville Tziabatz - December 13, 2009 12:39 PM (GMT)
Come to think of it, Thunder Lightning Strike is my favorite of the decade, but I don'y think emusic has it.

fEOM THE ItUNES sEPARATION sUNDAY REVIEW:

QUOTE
The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn could never have stayed in Minneapolis. His big mouth was destined to get him into trouble. So off to Brooklyn he went with fellow former Lifter Puller guitarist Tad Kubler and established this brutal sextet. Together they marshal AC/DC power riffs to go along Finn’s Mark E. Smith-like storytelling about what Midwestern life meant to him. But where the Fall’s post-punk uses Smith’s rants to increase the alienation rate, Finn offers up tall tales and hard-luck stories about people he can’t stop observing and wishes deep down he could love.
