Title: How annoying is Peter Kay?

elvischomsky - November 20, 2009 07:07 PM (GMT)
How?

Buy Kurious! - November 20, 2009 07:09 PM (GMT)
Extremely.

Is he on the BBC or something?

biggestlibraryyet - November 20, 2009 07:12 PM (GMT)
Never heard of him.

That said, I hate the fucker :grrr:

A Worried Man - November 20, 2009 07:22 PM (GMT)
He is on TV right now. I understand that his fellow comedians are not big fans?

Audrey Wetherspoon - November 20, 2009 07:32 PM (GMT)
No. Nobody who has met him has a kind word to say about him.

Buy Kurious! - November 20, 2009 07:53 PM (GMT)
Why do they hate him so? :o

Cause he's a twat.

His relationship with his mother is not natural.

That's all I'm saying.

If you want me to mention incest, I won't, so don't even try.

Who's the stupid blonde girl? Is she the one who goes out with that dopey arsehole who does Family Fortunes?

Sorry.

The Indian takeaway had Children In Need on the telly. Hence my inquiry.

In previous years, they had the little one who looks like a duck, but she's obviously gone to ITV or somewhere.

You're not talking about my lovely wife, Tess Daly, are you???

Loved Phoenix Nights, Paddy and Max, his stand up show, but that was years ago.

Since then it's been sporadic charity/spoof records, and they're frankly embarrassing.

However, tonight, he was on Children In Need promoting his latest offering of a collection of kids TV characters (Bob The Builder, Thomas The Tank Engine, Postman Pat, you name it) all singing a medley of old songs. This collaberation took him two years of sweat and tears to assemble, and the finished result was aired . The medley is released on Monday, and is also available to download from midnight tonight, all proceeds going to said charity. :applaud:

Peter Kay is embarking on a new stand-up tour in the new year.

He said afterwards.

I'm not sure.

Is your wife a bit like Melanie Sykes, only stupider?

Slapper is on everything. I sometimes wonder why Brucie seems so chirpy

-_-

Kay is teetotal, yet trousered thousands advertising John Smiths Bitter.

i dont think about him all that much.

And amongst those who have worked with him on Phoenix Nights, the phrase "appalling tyrant" does get bandied about a lot.

I thought the advert where he 'dives' into the swimming pool was funny. I have not really seen his stand up or watched Phoenix Nights though. I cannot watch Children in Need no matter who is on it.

799thJim - November 21, 2009 11:04 AM (GMT)
Phoenix Nights was alright, it's been quickly downhill since then

saw a bit of one of his stand up sets on tv the other year, the audience seemed to like it, seemed to be mostly him shouting observations such as:

"AY! DOESN'T YOUR DAD DANCE BADLY AT CHRISTMAS?!?!?" (audience hysterics)

for the several minutes I tolerated

Starsky-Tandoori - November 21, 2009 11:17 AM (GMT)
I like him, but I've never worked with him.

Jack Dee is a recovering alcoholic (hence the stage name) who has also earnt a medium-sized fortune advertising the demon booze on the tellybox...

DJAsh - November 21, 2009 05:12 PM (GMT)
Kay decided to be teetotal becaue his father was an alcoholic. But he stiill took the money.

True, but then I don't think Peel was a big consumer of Peperami, either. Some people wouldn't do an ad for any money, which is fine, but for others it's just a source of income - no more demeanig than working in the local Spar, & a fuck sight more remunerative.

*cough* Vauxhall Corsa *cough*

He does still drink, on occasion. Not saying that makes anything worse or better.

Well, John Peel didn't do the Peperami advert, and Mark E Smith's dad wasn't run over by a Vauxhall Corsa.

I'd take their money, if they offered me enough.

Peel only advertised products which he personally endorsed.

Peprami was done by Ade Edmondson?

Peter Kay is a grasping Boltonian hypocrite.

Aubrey The Cat - November 22, 2009 07:26 AM (GMT)
I remember someone slagging Peel off as a hypocrite for doing adverts for Wall's sausages. It wasn't him, it was the bloke out of Liver Birds - the one with the rabbits. They both had NW accents, but didn't really sound alike.

You can like the idea of beer - as I do - without having to drink it. It depends of Peter Kay's reasons for not drinking. If he thinks that it's one of the evils of the world, then maybe he souldn't advertise it. If it brings him out in a rash, or he just doesn't like the feeling of being drunk, there's no problem, surely. And the adverts were entertaining, which is rare enough to be cherished.

I always thought it was Peel, really sounded like him didn't it?
