Title: Glasgow, The Ferry – 2nd night
Description: Saturday, 14th November 2009

ChickenGeorge - November 15, 2009 12:33 AM (GMT)
Much better that last night IMHO, though my hangover somewhat took the shine off the enjoyment :-(

Mark was in top form - lots of sound-enhancing knob twiddling; much entanglement of mic stands; smiling; and even striking up a conversation with a girl in the front row. He even managed a keyboard solo at the end of Blindness, much to Elena's amusement!

Security staff even got in on the act too, attempting to wrestle a mic stand out of the grasps of the crowd. :finger:

Played for 1 hour solid (incl. Mr Pharmacist) then single encore.

Roll on next year and the new album - with hopefully another double-header in Glasgow to look forward to :applaud:

The security shenanigans livened things up during Blindness but I thought last night was better.
Both good though.
Another pointless post.

Top tunes tonight. Agree MES seemed in a much more jovial mood. New material sounded better. Friday was good, tonight was great!

gpark1uk - November 15, 2009 01:20 AM (GMT)
Tonight was stunning. All the right songs at all the right times.

Blindness is the new Blindness.

Security twonks started doing the right thing by trying to recover the mic stand. However, once two grown men get their hands on a mic stand and start pulling with all their might whilst the mic cord is wrapped round peoples necks, then things have gone too far. To then point out a guy in the crowd to each other and do nothing about it, then wade in, fingers in faces after the gig has finished, just makes them look like twats out for a fight. Unsurprisingly it's the same short arsed mustachioed tosser who was pointing and shouting at someone in the crowd last night. His partner in crime in the woolen three quarter length coat and leather gloves just looked like a fud. You're not in a razor gang in the 50s, you're a bouncer on the Renfrew Ferry and you shouldn't be starting fights. And I rant this as someone not involved. Well done to all those who tried to help the guy who got huckled.

highlight of the night for me was mes's conversation with member of audience during intro to (i think) blindness.
it went something like
mes " you can't stop moving, you cant stop moving-
do you think you're on a boat?"

edinburgh_man - November 15, 2009 03:12 AM (GMT)
gpark1uk totally agree with what you said about security. Guy with a 'tache was a total wanker...

Other than that, tonight was bloody marvellous! Blindness was fantastic - the MES synth solo was the highlight...

Setlist was as follows:

"Instrumental"
Strangetown
Wolf Kidult Man
Slippy Floor
Chino Splashback
50Yr Old Man
I've Been Duped
Funnel of Love
Cowboy George
I'm Not From Bury
Scenario
Mr Pharmacist
Blindness
Psykick Dancehall

yes much better tonight

the bouncers are indeed twats the antics during blindness were hysterical and I'm ashamed to admit the boy who got huckled was my mate David Thorburn from Peebles. There I've named and shamed him!!!!!

Blindness is indeed the new Blindness, I'll never tire of hearing that live I'm sure.

Bury has to be my fave new song.

C'mon Mark get some Edinburgh shows sorted now.

Fucking brilliant. Probably the best Fall gig I've been to - had it all - knob twiddling that actually improved the guitar, back to audience reading words and Blindness, absolutely blinding - enhanced by the hilarious mic stand tug of war, audience participation and comedy twat bouncers.

Oh, and that pic, Edinburgh Man, is brilliant. We were at that side of the stage and I tried to capture that hilarious moment too but was too busy laughing and shaking.

It was too good a photo opportunity to pass up!

This was Elena whilst Mark was doing his stuff...

My wife was looking at boots like that in Worthing town centre today (free parking on Sunday).

I never thought my wife was into Fall fasion.

Great photo btw.

incredible gig

Totally brilliant gig. More than made up for the Aberdeen debacle!

I vow never to miss another Scottish Fall gig ever.

Blindness. Wow.

There was a moment where MES turned round and seemed to sort of press his face up against the partition in front of the drummer – the bit above the yellow and black stripes in edinburgh man’s first photo. I wasn’t quite sure what he was doing but was reliably informed, by a sensible person, that he was actually licking the wall. ^_^

Best MES photo of the decade, perhaps longer.

Nice shot.

I'll second that, he did appear to lick wall.

with the heat in the place the walls will have been dripping with sweat and with his cat like tendencies well............................

Great gig. Microphone tug of war was the best I've ever seen, it always seems to wind bouncers up when the mike gets handed around the audience.

The moustachioed goon was called, appropriately, Wally.... I joined in the chase as he hussled that guy out the front door, holding on to his arm at one point.... if looks could kill... After he booted the guy out his mate big Vern grabbed him and said 'are you OK Wally?'... Wally retreated to the bar area, shaking, :devil2: bulging eyes still looking like he wanted to kill somebody ....... Plonker. :finger:

My wife and I boycotted these gigs (reluctantly) on account of the last time these twonkers tried to seperate my head from shoulders as I reached to obtain the set list.

Hope this is the last time The Fall play this small (in every sense of the word) venue.
