Title: Southampton, The Brook, 18th November 2009
Description: Pre-gig arrangements

chris.southon - October 27, 2009 03:14 PM (GMT)
The Fall are playing at The Brook on 18 November, squeezed between Koko on the Tuesday and Poole Mr Kyps on the Thursday. Bit of a south coast bonanza :applaud:

I've got me ticket but thats 11 dates in 14 days....

Good man - make a week of it mate

I'm going to Koko the night before, but i fancy this too.

The vagaries of trains give me the shits.

I live within gobbing distance of the sadly defunct Cartoon Club if anyone from this way wants a passenger for the nacht. Will get beers in and pay towards gas, of course. :rollover:

Bugger. Me too, I'll have to let a very old friend down (assuming he actually wanted to see me). Not sure I can hack 4 nights in a row either.

Have to have a word with the wife - skinned alive comes to mind.

Yeah, I could do woth the petrol money Tobes.

Should be a bit more relaxing than the last time we went to see them at the Brook eh Tobes!!!

Might knock Koko on the head for this one. It's a crap venue for a Fall gig anyway.

On edit. Forgot DML playing Koko.

Good grief.

Billybigbananas - October 28, 2009 10:53 PM (GMT)
 Blimey. This is indeed "packing them in". It'll be a last minute decision for me on this one.

Yeah fuck that

Glad we won't have to ferry any vital pads of paper around this year Dad

Conway - October 29, 2009 12:38 AM (GMT)
The Brook's a very nice venue. It's 4 years - to the day - I saw them there... great night - Hanley jumping on stage between the main set and encore to grab a setlist, which he then presented to me in the middle of the mosh pit, instructing grabbing hands to have some respect for the guy who runs the website. What's even funnier is that it worked too! Brings a tear to me eye...

Hmm, that sort of behaviour has got me in a ‘bit of a pickle’ more recently, so I’ll leave all that ‘monkey business’ to exuberant youths and drunks. However, The Brook 2005 was a special case as Conway was on his world Fall tour of Islington and Southampton, or at least that’s what I told the large security guy who held me upside down to empty my pockets.

I can do The Brook in an hour by car from home. Camden is far more painful so I’ll make my mind up on the day.

I’ll have probably had enough of 50 Year Old Man by the 3rd night anyway.

Chip Priest - October 29, 2009 05:05 PM (GMT)
I'd had enough of it after the third play.

The pub we went in last time was ok. We trebled their takings that week. I think it was the Drummond Arms

I think I have been in there (I used to live near Southampton). I will check with a couple of beer monsters of my acquaintence to see if it is up to snuff or if they have any better ideas.

As you pass the Brook on the main road heading south, it’s a couple of hundred yards down, up a road on your right. There is also another nice little boozer further down that main road on your left as well. I'm driving so I really couldn't care.

When you flying in Greame?

Are you bringing any ticket money with you this time Tobes?

I'm arriving on the 17th ready for Koko that night. I may need drugs to keep going. Let's hope there's plenty on DML's rider.

Anyone wishing to indulge in some fine food beforehand, could do worse than the Italian restaurant "Ennio's" near the dock area.

On the expensive side but excellent quality. I can recommend the Sea Bass.

Peroni on draught aswell.

Ennio's

'Sea Bass' before a Fall gig?

Down at 'the docks'?

All sounds very queer indeed.

I'm driving down the M27 from Costa Geriatrica. I can do Eastleigh airport within the hour. Then I traditionally get lost.

Chips and a sausage for me, then onto that pub that was empty last time.

Sea bass??

But 'sea bass' !!

Howdo all – been out the country a bit & off the ‘fall scene’ for a while. Only been once this year I’m afraid!
Hopefully be making the gig in Southamption tonight – did anyone decide on a pub beforehand? I noticed the Drummond arms was mentioned earlier!
cheers

Hanley Played a Fender P - November 18, 2009 10:06 AM (GMT)
If you see Greame ‘Big Crashing Beat’ at the Drummond, you might want to buy the guy a drink.

Greame was at San Diego airport ready to fly here for the Koko gig last early yesterday, only to have his flight cancelled at the last minute.

He didn’t seem at all happy when he sent me a text!

Anyway, Greame, who hales form the Southampton area is now finally in the UK. Greame was always set to do the Brook and Poole gigs, so 2 out of 3 is better than nothing.

See you later mate if you read this.

chris.southon - November 18, 2009 01:36 PM (GMT)
Lookin forward to this very much after last night and meetin Graeme

See y'all in the Drummond.
