Eventually got to see Ziggy Jnr's debut feature film Moon at the weekend and was impressed. Quite a quiet, claustrophobic and poignant film about isolation and identity and our relationship with technology I thought...think Silent Running, Blade Runner (the usual suspects) and elements of Big Brother ofc. Minimally cast and shot entirely in the studio the dialogue stands up pretty well I think and the film keeps a good steady pace. It was also lovely to see some quality old school sci-fi modelling on display in place of the usual (and apparently beyond budget) CGI which will appeal to any ex Airfix types. The score is a bonus too courtesy of Clint from PWEI.
Supposedly this is the first in what Jones hopes to be a trilogy. Hopefully the inevitable mountain of cash that is going to get thrown at him for the next one means he won't lose track of the wonderful simplicity of the first. :)

Can't wait to see this. Looks like I'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD though.

The look, performances and atmosphere of the film are fantastic, but I found the main plot premise unsatisfactory. And christ would somebody shut that bloody music up. Great poster though, best film poster in a long time.
I met Duncan Jones recently and am pleased to say he's a lovely bloke, with little of that wierd shadow that is often cast over the children of superstars. And he's got his dad's mouth and teeth, it's almost uncanny.

His dad's old teeth or his new teeth?
There is a big difference.

Cool, it'll be like that five album series his dad put out starting with Outside... oh, right.

Wonder if the next one will feature a Goblin King dance? :D
