I never bought this one, it looks like barrel scraping.

Don't have this one, and barrel scraping as it may be, i had to vote for Wings. :)

Essential if only for the best version of 'Guest Informant' you will EVER hear.
Excellent takes on 'Wings', ' US 80s 90s', and the drunken Peel 50th birthday party piece that was 'Race With The Devil'.
Granted, there is a little "doubling up" with tracks like 'Marquis Cha Cha' (single version is the same as LP mix) and Bremen Nach Run Out (on all Frenz CDs), but I'm sure the un-remastered 'Backdrop' sounds even better than the Sanctuary take.

Aw, shit, Rainmaster, don't say that. That's basically the ONE thing you could say to make me feel like I need this.

No it's actually really good, rounding up some essential studio rarities.
Sven Hassel Schmuck - August 10, 2009 10:34 PM (GMT)
The title track is great, of course, but Bremen Nacht Run Out, for me, represents everything that is great about The Fall. It's, noisy, silly, repetitive and utterly brilliant (and not nearly long enough) and always puts me in a good mood when played as loud as possible. Sort of like The Fall's version of Sister Ray :D
When I think about it, it's definitely in my top 10 Fall tracks ever.

And the original bootleg issue is far, far better than the re-mastered (and sonically neutered) reissue. I'd say this album is essential.

I'm pretty sure the re-issue was not remastered when Voiceprint put it out.
My copy certainly doesn't suggest so.

I think the mastering thing was what U earthlings call a "joke"

This is one of those polls whose results don't interest me at all. Nevertheless it serves its purpose because it made me dig out the record for the first time in several years.
The title track would have been quite obvious. However I prefer something exclusive, the rousing live performance of The Man Whose Head Expanded.

I just received this via mail order, and the version I am now listening to is on "PIL Records" (Pseudo Indie Label). Is this the re-issue, or the original? It says 1994 on it, if that helps. I think I may have stumbled on a rarity (it wasn't particularly expensive).

It's Pseudo Indie, all right! Thanks for the info, FV. It sounds great, but quiet. So I cranked it up. "Race With The Devil:" what a great version! I hadn't heard it before.

Don't have the original, but the re-issue is pretty quiet too - I suspect they're identical.

RM hinted at that above. So, the only difference is the label, but it's a cool label!

The only Pseudo Indie Label release I have is a Pavement bootleg with atrocious sound quality. Definitely not cool.

I meant cool-looking. I'd never heard of the company before. Lovely magenta disc, though! :rollover:

Dresden Dolls because I think I saw something about Una Baines writing the words and she's cool.
