Very interested if it is an actual acetate. Modern day 'CD acetates' are so much less satisfactory. They don't smell like a proper acetate for one thing.
E-bay it if it is. Or name your price (by PM!).

it's an acetate test pressing for vinyl
cut at abbey road (and in abbey road sleeve) w/ MES writing on it listing tracks;
side 1
the joke
don't call me darling
rainmaster
feeling numb
pearl city
life just bounces
then lists side two on the back,
(but the acetate is just side one)
I have no idea what it might be worth, will do a bit of research

Price £345.00 or offers welcome, after a bit of research thought this figure was about right
(will post here if it sells)
Photos are a bit dark, but you can get the jist..

One of my very favourite Fall albums (I know, I know..) Might be tempted, but pardon my ignorance what exactly is an acetate and what's it good for?

hmmm, a collectors item really, they're rare (only ever usually one or two done) and are for reference when the final master is put together at a cutting room. All sorts of minor adjustments; compression, eq, limiting etc are done to work the audio to it's best for the product.
An acetate is made from the brittle first version of vinyl, like the old 78's. The quality is inferior to modern vinyl and intended for reference and approval only, it is pressed from the copper or metal master disc which is 'cut' from the final audio (and the meaning for 'cutting an album'). The acetate test pressing is the first to be pressed from the metal master, if approval is given (which is usually the case) then then the vinyl pressing proceeds with how many hundred or thousand are ordered.
hope that answers your question Mr Holt

I'd wait till we've been de-Crunched. I'm skint too, and I like the LP.
Any idea what became of side 2?
