After last night - one of the happiest nights of my life - I now think MES and Ed Blaney is fantastic.

IWS has always been a bit meh for me.
But what do I know...

Encouraged by the positive live reviews, I've now ordered the MES/Blaney album.

Finally got round to ordering the Blaney side project. Thought Von Sudenfed was fantastic so hope this is just as inspired.

The Smith and Blaney album is a rather nice alternation. They surely had fun making the record and it infects the listener. However it would never occur to me to seriously compare it to a regular Fall album in terms of quality.

I didn't like IWS at first, then a couple of months later I loved it and now I'm indifferent to it (bar Kidult, Tommy Shooter, 50 Year Old Man and Exploding Chimney). Some of it is utter nonsense. I never understood all the love for Taurig and the one where he sings about Jeremy Kyle and "Dot was his mum" is pretty shit.
The MES/Blaney effort is a lot more fun. IWS sounds very laboured in parts, as if none of it has come easy to anybody.
However, after all that, I'm still undecided as to which is better.
