Title: The Fall Versus Football
Description: You Must Choose
Cleanville Tziabatz - December 25, 2008 02:24 AM (GMT)
You die in a tragic accident and it turns out that the Hindoos are right -- there is reincarnation. The good news is that you have been relatively good and will be reincarnated as a human. The bad news is that you haven't been that good and must be born into one of two parallel universes: (i) one has The Fall but no football; and (ii) the other has football, but no Manchester's own The Fall.
The life force of the Greater Vehicle demands that you choose which place you will be born back into. If you refuse to choose, then you will be born back into a universe where Bono is world president and the world anthem is "Crazy Frogs." What do you choose?

The Fall.
Football, I shittit!

Must admit, the question's a bit like asking would you like a beer, a lobotomy, or an isolated shower of shit in your general area for the rest of your life?, but then I'm not a football fan - as sort of proved by my fantasy football league placing (11th last time I looked)

A world without football?
We can dream, can't we?
Völlig Totall - December 26, 2008 12:45 AM (GMT)
A no-brainer this one. But a "Fall vs. Beer" poll would have put me in a quandary.

Ten years ago it would've been football, whatever the band, but I didn't know The Fall 10 years ago. :P
Fuck football...I'm bored with it these days...

Goodbye MES.
However, if it was world without music or a world without football it would be goodbye football.
barrie - December 26, 2008 10:26 AM (GMT)
While I am a football fan, there's no doubt in my mind that I'd sooner lose ALL sport than music.....in fact,I've had this conversation with three sport-loving friends of mine before now and we all agreed;bye bye sport, welcome in music.
elvischomsky - December 26, 2008 10:51 AM (GMT)
But thankfully, there can be football and music, a match made in heaven.

As a Leicester City supporter, football would be the obvious candidate for Room 101.

There can also be The Fall and Football, even better.

I once met the man responsible for making Glenn & Chris make that record.
I asked him why they weren't called Hoddle & Waddle.
He told me that would have made them look stupid.
For once I was, quite literally, lost for words.

Shurrup moaning man you're top of the bloody League!
And it wasn't their bloody goalie who scored a 90th minute equaliser against you.....
Gaz - December 26, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
Man City are currently in the relegation zone. The Fall, then.

Aye but then it's not really a real league, is it? :P
I'm just gonna sit here and wait for someone to defend the Scottish Prem League...

And one we may end up in if we do not pick up a gear!
To be honest I really enjoyed watching the footie when City were in the old Division One. Some good teams.

Can't see Man City going down - let's hope Middlebrough Get dumped - they're heading for it, and it would give me great pleasure, living amongst 'em here in the North East, for Leicester to be playing 'em next season. :devil2:
Gaz - December 26, 2008 09:47 PM (GMT)
I can't see us going down either, truth be told. I also cannot see Hughes being here this time next year, which is a shame.
I still say we should've kept Sven though.
Not only was he a good manager but with the benifit of hindsight he's also the type of guy used to big clubs with cash to spend.
Aubrey The Cat - December 27, 2008 10:25 AM (GMT)
I have not understood football since they changed the leagues. Division 1 (is it league 1?) sounds good, until you learn that it's actually div 3, and only a couple of divs obove Gainsborough Trinity. It's like evrybody can be in the first division, only we'll call it different things. Bloody daft.
So, The Fall, every time.
(Footballers seem to fall down too easily these days, as well)
(And as for USian football...)
Sven Hassel Schmuck - December 27, 2008 09:40 PM (GMT)

I'm an Accy Stanley fan.

Surplus Johnny - December 29, 2008 03:58 AM (GMT)
As much as i love the game of Football, i love The Fall more.
I could live without watching another game.
Kapitän - December 29, 2008 10:22 AM (GMT)
I'd choose music over football.
But one band? Nah.

Am I the only person to whom the idea of a world run by Bono and the Crazy Frog is actually quite appealing?

Oddly enough, David Icke posits this idea in his new book.
Fritter - December 29, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
Without football there would have been no Kicker Conspiracy, which would have made life a lot less fun.

I think Crazy Frog should be made master of ceremonies at the State Opening Of Parliament and also do the Budget speech each year.
Bono reminds me of Mussolini anyway, so it's nice to while away an hour or two imagining him being hung upside down with piano wire.

It's business and pleasure as far as I'm concerned. Can't have one without the other.
Percival - December 30, 2008 12:31 AM (GMT)
10 years ago we beat Manchester City in the 3rd division. Yesterday Altrincham destroyed us 2-1, I hate football. Fall all the way.
The Crept Mist Vandal - January 13, 2009 07:38 PM (GMT)
Since the 'Thatcherisation' of fitba a bit of a no brainer really.

If Thatcher had got her way there'd be hardly any football left.

partick thistle are a lot less consistent than the fall
