Title: Bankrolling the next Fall album
Description: Fall 'ding money

elvischomsky - December 1, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)

According to a recent post by FOF's resident Prog Rock commentator; "Marillion were the first band to circumvent record companies and approach their fans (via their website) and get them to send in £10 each in order to finance the recording of a new Marillion album. Once the album was finished, they were all sent a CD free of charge."

So if MES came a-knocking, Primark cap in hand, how much would you give him?
Oh, don't forget you get a copy of the album, too...

Country Folk - December 1, 2008 08:01 PM (GMT)
Went for £15, though I could be tempted to give more. Wouldn't want my name worked into a lyric though... "And Country Folk... he was a halfcut twat"

Cue entire audience shouting "Twat!"

Cue CF leaving venue in tears...

Cappuccino and a slice of quiche - December 1, 2008 08:02 PM (GMT)

Are we allowed to stipulate no growling, sleevenotes written on a manual typewriter, cover version of 'I Need Nothing' by Menace etc etc?

The more you give, the more you get.

I think we need input into the album's cover song if we're fronting the dinero.

Buy Kurious! - December 1, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
I'll give £15 in installments.

Völlig Totall - December 1, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)

But we might get invited backstage if we donate, where we can consume copiously the ocean of booze on the rider. ^_^

£3,000 if he puts this adorable photo on the front cover.

I can't believe peeps are talking about KISS on a Fall forum.
Never thought I'd see the day, &c...

But with a much smaller and battery-powered tongue that pops in and out seemingly at random, and fully removable dentures.

Can someone contact Craig Scanlon and pay him to record instead?

Dice Man - December 2, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
As Octophone said in Fall discussion, Neubauten and C93 did such a subscribers thing as well. Personally I like the idea. £15, sure.

twinz2z - December 2, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
Its worth 15 quid just for the ulcers your likely to give some record Execs.

He might need it. Is he still signed with Sanctuary? What is the status here....

Fritter - December 13, 2008 10:51 AM (GMT)
Surprised no one has suggested Fall Aid - there's plenty of talent here, enough for an evening of music, readings, cat-knitting, etc. Simpo can big it up in the papers, BK can do the posters, HPAFP can be on the door (for some reason I imagine him to be a big bloke and quite handy), Bradx and The Gav can take turns on the wheels of steel.

OK, so most of the money wold be made at the bar, but still...

i bet there's even more money in it if you move the bar outside the venue!

Well, I was thinking of more a policy of Free Entry, But You Pay To Get Out.

stuartjewkes - December 30, 2008 03:29 PM (GMT)
As long as I get the album free I'd give the boys £15. Some exclusive material as a bonus would be good too. A 2nd CD of lo-fi doodles anyone?

stevoid - December 30, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
I've been donating £10-15 for years now so yes i'd buy the next album in advance.

The Encrusted Green - December 31, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
will they be wanting to kip on my floor when they tour?

Country Folk - January 2, 2009 07:26 PM (GMT)
They're welcome to kip at mine. However, if I catch MES throwing a towel on the floor and pissing on it, he'll be given a firm talking to.

Steven Seagal Was My Neighbour - January 2, 2009 07:50 PM (GMT)
I went for the £50.00 option. Has anyone actually contacted MES / the band about such a proposal?

elvischomsky - January 2, 2009 08:11 PM (GMT)
I didn't realise this when I posted this poll, but this is quite a trend.
