Title: It's Friday. It's 5.15. It's time for a death quiz
Description: Some say they should have lived forever
elvischomsky - August 22, 2008 10:33 AM (GMT)
Okay. Who are we talking about meeting their sorry end here?
Clue: I love 4 and 10 - the rest can go hang.
x
1. “Do not kill him!”
2. “A bulls-eye!”
3. A waxwork.
4. Without legs.
5. “Shoot me in the chest!”
6. Sleeping on the left side.
7. The doctors just let him die.
8. The doctors kept him alive until November 20th.
'9. 'Are you serving the cause?''
10. “I was, I am - I shall be!"

Are they all Rock(in') Stars?
elvischomsky - August 22, 2008 10:46 AM (GMT)
It should be obvious what they are.
Once someone gets one, then it's slam dunk da funk, as I believe you younglings say...

I've heard/read 10 before, but I don't know where...
Hmmm, something to do with anarchism, I suspect...
GraemeLovesPinkLady - August 22, 2008 11:12 AM (GMT)
#3 is Lenin. It my radical socialist phase I went to Russia and saw "Lenin" - no way, it's a waxwork.
I thought this thread would be about Crackerjack. I was looking forward to crushing grapes.

7... could be true about many old stiffs, DP, but it's not who I'm thinking of here.

Correct.
But it is wax.
Can someone tell me how to post a photo on here?
For potential comedy value...

Right, I'm off to sell cloth.
Good day to you, sir!
PS - I do read books occasionally, elvish.
I even remember what I've read...sometimes. :finger:
Nice quiz, tosspot.

thanks for the gentle turndown of my Warhol guess; but, one of his superstars did say that. If you recall, Mr Warhol was hooked to an unmonitored IV which put fluid into his body so fast it killed him. He was worth $300 million and the hospital killed him.

Which is greater than your "Our Gang, Your Gang" dialectics, shirley?
JUDY!

GARLAND!
Is one of them Hitler? He's a hero of mine, obviously.
Along with Elmyr de Hory, Richard Nixon, and Ilse fucking Koch. :grrr:

Yes - I know that's a church behind me and not really anything to do with communism, don't patronise me!
Lenin's tomb is just opposite, but it was closed for the annual rewaxing.

I swear on my life I haven't googled this, hence no name; but I think I know who 4 is.
I read something in the Guardian about 2 or 3 years ago about a writer who was a political prisoner, and it was one of the most inspiring things I'd ever read.
I wrote his name down somewhere and intended to get his book(s), but he was so inspirational I've forgotten his name.... :(
Am I along the right lines, elvis?

Well, does anyone know who I'm talking about, coz I really want to find out more now.
I seem to remember he had a wife and a kid and his wife had to travel long distances to meet him, which was once in a while.
Oh, I hate my brain... :(
Just give me a name, someone, anyone!

You didn't miss anything. You queue up for ages, but when you finally get into The Room, they always keep you moving, and you are four or five metres away.
If you follow the road behind you in the photo for about a hundred yards you'll get to a beryozka (foreign currency shop) where I had a pretty scary experience, when loads of russians with roubles descended upon me when I stopped to talk to one for a moment...I was just starving and wanted something recognisably edible to eat, they wanted vodka that wouldn't blind them...<<shudder>>. I also managed to get completely lost in Goom that day. In fact, my whole trip to Russia was a bit of a disaster and our party ended up being escorted to the airport.

When (or before) this is done, can someone give me a list of names who that political prisoner might be, coz it's really fucking pissing me off now.
I've just trawled through a load of old notebooks, full of adolescent shit and I've found nothing.
Sorry, to clutter your quiz up elvis, but it's your fault....!!!

Ah, good call DP.
But that was Fred Hampton - killed by the US state and forgotten, while everyone was looking the JFK/RK/MLK way.
Bonus point.
