Title: So why are you here, Fall fan?
Description: Got nothing better to do?

elvischomsky - May 30, 2008 11:47 PM (GMT)
So - as many ancient Greek philosophers have asked - why are we here?

Frederick II - May 31, 2008 01:33 AM (GMT)
I'm in it for the sex.

elvischomsky - May 31, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
Argh. Should have been an option.
But I woke up in a drunken stupor and bonked off ten minutes ago.
Maybe next time?

GraemeLovesPinkLady - May 31, 2008 02:29 AM (GMT)
Can you add a "pointless validation of own existence" option? I'd vote for that one.

elvischomsky - May 31, 2008 02:42 AM (GMT)
But it can't be pointless, if it validates your existence.
Surely?
Look on the bright side...

I feel like this is the AA thread. Hello my fake name is killerpup and...I'm a Fall fan. I find since becoming a Fall fan I can't listen to other forms of music. Once I went eight months without listening to another band unless it was playing in the supermarket. And singers who actually sing make me...well...roll my eyes and want to puke. The problem is all my friends and family think MY music is of poor quality. Therefore I've sought out the company of total strangers--most of whom live in another country--with which to discuss my obsession. I get the warm fuzzies when Rex types "haven't we done this thread before." And believe all my new not-really friends look like their avatars. I get upset when they change them (except for Buy Kurious for some reason). Soon I fear I will lose my grip on reality and begin thinking that I am the strange one. Really I'm not strange it's the others. The billions of others right? Right?

Right?

My fake name is killerpup, and I'm a Fall fan. Dear God somebody help me.

Thanks. More help please.

Whew! I feel MUCH better now.

So far it's proved an invaluable gateway into the record collections of like-minded people (well, people who who also like the Fall anyway) and has expanded my listening experience massively, for which I'm really grateful.

And the sex, natch.

Buy Kurious! - May 31, 2008 09:11 AM (GMT)
I'm just here for the Song-Chain Game thing, really.
The sex gets a bit predictable after a while....repetitious, even.

I come here to moan

GraemeLovesPinkLady - May 31, 2008 03:46 PM (GMT)
My earlier post came out sounding a bit negative - my feelings are similar to those in Killerpup's post, especially the bit saying this is like the AA...

"Hello, my name is Graeme, and I love Pink Lady...I have been clean for, uh, about 13 hours...I have a compulsion to post links to songs with great dance routines..."

Something like this is a bit more up my street: Shanghai Honey - Orange Range. It's from a drama called "Orange Days" that is about a deaf girl, and a lot of the routine is based on sign language.

The knowledge of others really. I think I have probably 70-100 albums in my collection now due to recommendations here. I read of a band and feel a compulsion to check them out, and the best place to hang around for this reason is somewhere where people generally have good taste.

If it wasn't for this board I wouldn't have gotten into jazz, doom and noise so easily. Also it's great for the fact that interesting people send you stuff if you ask nicely :)

You always come over like someone suffering from bad haemorrhoids.

Like you’re sitting on a rubber ring while you type.

Because, I just realised, I have no idea what "doom" or "noise" are and I intend to find out.
WEll, learning what "jazz" was didnt hurt, even when I fell backwards from a guy in a white suit and found I was black. And blue. Like Miles.
