Title: I get better as I get older

the poll choices are a bit biased towards 'No' but there you go. I have only started this poll because I am drunk and want to stay up a bit longer, rather than turn the PC off and go to bed. I also wanted to see how you actually create a poll.

Edit: spelling mistake in the 4th option. 'goos' is supposed to be 'good'. 'S' and 'D' are next to each other on the keyboard for some crazy reason.

Now sorted.

Argh, depends what you mean.
And hard to judge - not knowing him as a friend or family member.
But if we're talking about MES the human being - rather than the music he makes with some old group or other - if you read early interviews he does seem a bitter old-before-his time sort of fellow, and slightly sanctimonious; whining about the music press, record companies and the Manchester vs London scenes, etc.
In the 90s he was threatening to stub fags out in journalists' eyes and starting fights a lot.
Quite funny - as long as you weren't directly involved.
These days, I think he's incredibly funny in interviews (or at the recent Renegade talks) - even when he's winding up the journalist/us/other readers.
He seems more comfortable in his own skin now, rather than coming across as a self-righteous maelstrom.
I always thought he was fucking cool, though, even in the days when he came across like an absolute cnut....

Every time I read one of these kind of questions I try and put myself in the head of someone about twenty, listening to the latest Fall albums but even if I try to be honest the earlier albums (groups sound better) the lyrics sound a lot better (Except for the odd line) and when I listen to an early recording (Live gig) and the ones I attended they were or seem better. Maybe it is just impossible to "pretend' your listening to The Fall for the first time in the new millennium or maybe I'm just a B.O.F. (Boring Old Fart) still living in the eighties. I've been twice this year to see them live & every year since 1992 Glastonbury (I did miss one year around 1998) and like everything sometimes the gigs were good but others were not so, the word I was after is "Dull" I never thought I would call a Fall gig Dull. :banghead: I wonder what Mr. John Peel would think of the material released since his demise, there again that should not matter :P

No difference to me, really.

I listen to all the "old" Fall LP's, appreciate them, in hindsight.
I've no way of knowing what it was like to be "into" them before 'The Unutterable'; so it's hard to say...

There was a lot more consistency in gigs in the 80s. He put a lot more effort in.

I am better in the sense that I recognise more pains and not to get too epilectic about it... but worse cos there are more pains.. but i dunno who is winning ... i will bet with the positive outcome ... a fool and their money are soon rich n aLL THAT

Ho can we answer this? He's only just turned 50.

elvischomsky - June 5, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
Quite right.
Alternative questions:

Yes, he's better now than he would be in his 80s
No, still the same
No, not as good he'd be in his 80s
No, but only slightly not as good as he'd be in his 80s

HELP THE AGED...

Whats this "The 80s"?
The band didnt start then, they didnt make more records then. Were they someone's formative years? I know the Fall were "fashionable" for six months back then, but.........
pffffftttttttt....
He's better with age.
You'll find out, cock. If ya lucky.....
