Title: How do you file your Fall CDs?
Description: Your filing method please!
Stephen - June 3, 2004 07:43 AM (GMT)
Mine are chronological: I like to see the crab-like evolution mapped out on the shelf.
If you use a method not listed here, please detail that below.
•
How do you file your non-Fall albums?
bezenby2 - June 3, 2004 08:22 AM (GMT)
For the most part chronological - But it rarely stays that way

| Why not? |
I end up leaving them lying around the hi-fi - or next to the PC, or they end up under the couch or they go mysteriously missing and turn up a few days later... :o
The cover for my copy of Live 77 has gone permanently AWOL since the missus used it as a bookmark...
Stephen - June 3, 2004 08:51 AM (GMT)
You could always substitute one of those other identical live covers.

Agreed...that's why I wsan't bothered...they're not exactly the best for sleeve notes...
In fact I could scan the back cover of the paintwork
Martin - June 3, 2004 09:11 AM (GMT)
And what about LPs and cassettes and videos and DVDs?
Mine are random, by the way.

We should do a poll to see how many Fall records people own. There are about 80 or so albums. I'm sure nobody has got all of them. The Japan box sets can't be too common, for example. What's the most difficult thing to get hold of, do you think?
mantpl - June 3, 2004 10:48 AM (GMT)
I would guess the most difficult Fall records to get hold of are:
LPs
Room To Live (white vinyl) Line Records
Hex Enduction Hour (white Vinyl) Line Records
Perverted By Language (white vinyl) Line Records
In A Hole (Dbl)
This Nations Saving Grace (Red Lettering?) inc. Press montage & Group Pic (Canadian copy)
Levitate
The Marshall Suite 10”
7”
Marquis Cha Cha (Ex/Ex)
Totally Wired (New Zealand) Released by Gap Records
Rude All The Time/ I Wake Up In The City (flitwick)
Why Are people Grudgeful? (Green Vinyl)
Kimble (White Vinyl)
So what about it/Edinburgh Man (Promo)
& also the following cassettes:
Live at The Witch Trials
Hit The North
Light User Syndrome
Marshall Suite
Levitate

It's 78 albums from Live At The Witch Trials to 50,000 FFs Can't Be Wrong.
But this doesn't include Japan box-sets. They are simply collections of other existing albums. Same goes for Time Enough At Last (Castle CMETD706, 28 April 2003): Box set comprising: 15 Ways To Leave Your Man, Live / Oxymoron / Cheetham Hill
bezenby2 - June 3, 2004 11:09 AM (GMT)
I think there was a thread on how many albums people had a good while back...but there's loads of new members about so it would be worth doing again...
I'm sure someone said they had about 300 including reissues...

might have been including bootlegs, singles etc...
Had a few tapes of gigs myself but stupidly lost them over the years..

Is it my imagination, Martin, or are you slightly obsessed with those Japan box sets?
Of course you could always file your Receiver CDs in the bin.

I don't have the receiver stuff out (all two of them) think I chucked them in a box to make way for other music
frenzbob - June 3, 2004 03:06 PM (GMT)
They all start off in some form of order but very quickly scatter around the room as if by magick   <_<
generalist - June 3, 2004 03:08 PM (GMT)
i also have this problem....

Here's a question for the obsessive - Do you put the live stuff in with the studio stuff?
And another question: Where's my anorak?
eatandoph - June 3, 2004 03:36 PM (GMT)
Chronological. Compilations and live albums are placed by (predominant or most recent) recording date, not by release date, and are mixed in among the "proper" studio albums.
I have never heard of a Marshall Suite 10". Does it really exist? It isn't mentioned in the discography.
Senior - June 3, 2004 03:59 PM (GMT)
Mine are in several last-in-first-out stacks.

It's in the outside bog hung up, it's been there so long you've got a set of Badgers nesting in the pockets
generalist - June 3, 2004 04:11 PM (GMT)
do badgers nest ?????? or do they sett ???? :nahnah:
rushes off to get anorak..........................................

Not really obsessed, I'm just interested to know what sort of sleeve notes, if any, they have...any photos not on the original albums, stuff like that...nothong obsessive.

I haven't heard of this either. Are you sure it exists?
generalist - June 3, 2004 04:45 PM (GMT)
do any of us really exist? or r we figments of fallfandaves imagination???
Martin - June 3, 2004 04:49 PM (GMT)
My underpants exist, it's the rest of me I'm not sure about. :D
frenzbob - June 3, 2004 04:52 PM (GMT)
Underpants exist in a timeline all of their own so my grandad said, 'never underestimate the power of your underkeks' -_-
Martin - June 3, 2004 05:01 PM (GMT)
Yeah, and make sure you always have a clean pair on in case you're involved in an accident.
frenzbob - June 3, 2004 05:05 PM (GMT)
Mi alcy mate always carries a spare pair around in case he has an 'accident' :)
Used to be a boy scout, always prepared! :D
baldgentleman - June 3, 2004 05:08 PM (GMT)
I don't know where all this anorak stuff came from; but as long as I've got all the songs that are available I'm not that bothered what format they come in but saying that I've still got "Bingo Masters" 10" 78rpm :D

I think that's the important thing, to have all the songs available and stuff the format. Although I do own the Drum Club remix of Middle Class Revolt and the original Acklam Hall cassette. And Dresden Dolls bootleg single. Seriously, this white vinyl nonsense is for ebay freaks and nutter completionists.

Re: this white vinyl nonsense is for ebay freaks and nutter completionists.
sorry mpetersvalencia but u did ask
What's the most difficult thing to get hold of, do you think?
Anyway, what's wrong with buying from ebay. You don't have to go hunting for the stuff and it's in a a lot of cases much cheaper, esp. if bought on German site
oops - i'm into trainspotter mode now
Conway - June 4, 2004 01:35 AM (GMT)
