zoot horn polo - November 1, 2007 01:18 PM (GMT)
I have been buying Autechre CDs and Peter Robinson novels.

It's best to do it that way, I think, rather than the other way round.

lustsuglychild - November 1, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
I haven't brought a new book for myself since buying Fungus the Bogeyman pop up book a few years back. I buy a few during the year usually b-day & Xmas gifts.
Thanks to my husband who is an avid reader we'll never be short of anything to read around here.

My most recent purchases were 4cans bourbon & coke
3 fish & 1 scoop of chips,
& my favorite a pair of red n black striped leggings. ;)

sorry I know thats not what you were after user posted image

I,ve read some of Robinsons earlier stuff, but tend towards Charlie Priest books by Stuart Pawson, a bit more humurous I find.(+ theres more of them in my 2nd hand book shop.)
Going out to buy a new Zen+ 8 Gig MP3, in the near future, just waiting for the shop to get the socket adaptor in.(tw).
Lustugly! Nothing wrong with that. Striped leggings are as valid a purchase as anything, and more neccesary than many.

Sparta DC - November 1, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)

I bought a new turntable for myself.................and a high chair for baby Sparta who is just starting solids :girl2:

The Green Man - November 1, 2007 01:55 PM (GMT)
Yesterday I got Cope's Krautrocksampler off Amazon. Have delayed buying this as I know his infectious enthusiasm is only going to propel me straight onto Ebay to bid furiously on first pressings of weird German shit from 1970 something.

pinhead69 - November 1, 2007 02:01 PM (GMT)

the_gav - November 1, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
a friend over the pond is helping me buy everything by caninus and hatebeak.

caninus is the metal band fronted by two illegal pitbulls named budgie and basil, and hatebeak is a studio project - this parrot started to make the most bizarre noises and these cool cats have set it to music.

can't beat those records you have to put up a fight for.

MCR - November 1, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
A new guitar stand........... alsoI'm looking around to buy a new bass, want a Fender Jazz but resources won't stretch to it, so have to have something cheaper but not sure what yet.

And a Nintendo Wii

the_gav - November 1, 2007 03:47 PM (GMT)
just now... a 7" single caleld television by peggy sue and the pirates (kate nash's backing band i believe). about a month ago a single came out by look look (dancing boys) called arseroad. both of these are notable cause i produced them (well, i sat there looking lost while a genius named ed deegan did it anyway).

back when i was putting on gigs i was gonna set up a label. the idea was that i'd take amateur bands, record them while they were still sloppy and making mistakes and keep the charm in. then i had a breakdown and vanished off the face of the earth after two sessions. so while it's a shame i didn't get to put this stuff out i'm so relieved that these two great recordings have finally made it to vinyl. arse road had my name on the cover and filled me with a sad, high-fidelity type satisfaction. who knows whether the pirates will be so kind?

worth grabbing either one if you spot them.

oh, also some japanese noise / grime / breakcore (possibly more) compilation called tsunbosajiki and the new manic cough - eggs and chips, which i remember being pretty great at demo stage.

now on with christmas shopping - my nephew will be along in january and sis has demanded a monitor and some kind of motion-detecting mat for the crib. naturally she wants the pricey stuff.

Aubrey The Cat - November 1, 2007 05:07 PM (GMT)
A set of 14 Hitchcock films - mother's xmas present.

A bunch of blank dvd-rs, for some reason.

Blank cdr-s, for another reason.

A cd wallet.

A bag of pears, almost soft enough to mash with your tongue.

That's a bit of a scoop.

It's a bugbear of mine...only unripe fruit being available in the supermarket eg pears you could mash somebody's skull with. Saw this docu once about a bloke who spent his entire life inspecting the fruit and veg in his local supermarkets and constantly harassing staff over the "unripeness" of it all. Middle aged loner type. Probably still had his subutteo pitch out in his bedsit but I liked him. He wasn't going down without a fight :devil2:

I'm going to get a good slagging for this but I've bought a few of those Depeche Mode CD/DVD packages. Early stuff, Construction Time Again, Black Celebration era. I always enjoyed DM on a certain level but I was, at the time, a schoolboy with no money so the albums are an unmapped territory for me. Until now - what a mixed bag, from total aceness to real crap on the same album sometimes. The documentaries on the DVDs are surprisingly candid and are probably worth what I've been getting them for alone.

Pears are a good example of unripe fruit sold at Asda too. Everything else though has the opposite problem. Only about 4 days life in them before they are over ripe.

Bananas are the exception. Always seem to be a mix of ripeness, so I naturally pick one or two green ones, one or two green/yellow ones and one or two yellow ones, so you can eat the most ripe and leave the least ripe to ripen in your fruit bowl.

<-------------- Sad anal fruit-buyer.

LocoMac - November 1, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)

Inedible fruit in supermarkets makes me seethe.

But white centred strawberries just make me want to self combust in a smoky froth of anger. Why do the fools that run these places buy them from growers in the first place, and moreover why do people buy the tasteless crap?

Anyone else flick to kick?

Took back my second copy of GY!BE's Raise Your Skinny Fists on vinyl as both copies were sealed and looked like they had been skated all over and then inished off with wire wool. I think there's a dodgy batch or maybe a terrible pressing plant.

Instead I got the new Fiery Furnaces album on tasty double gatefold for £11 and Melt-Banana's Bambi's Dilema for £10. I love the fact that I get mp3 downloads for free with the FF's album, means I can play it easily on my mp3 player on the way to work if I so wish.

LocoMac - November 3, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
I bought a cup of coffee and a packet of smokes

Mopiranger - November 19, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
A paperback called SAVAGE HEROES - tales of sorcery and black magic! Edited by someone called "Eric Pendragon", it's a collection of early fantasy short stories by Robert E Howard, Henry Kuttner, Clark Ashton Smith, etc... It's got a tacky Conan chopping up a demon with an axe-style cover, and bizarre, almost childish illustrations inside. It's a worn, cheap first edition from my birthyear that cost 60p at the time. Pages are a yellowy brown and when you open the book, it smells exactly like a book should smell - old paper and ink. To top it all off, the previous owner of the book was so good to rate the stories for me. I love second hand books.

At the moment I buy a newspaper everyday. Thats about it. Once or twice a week do some food shoppin. I haven't got a great deal of spare cash at the moment. All my dough goes on rent. I don't really mind as its a nice place to live. I'd love to buy more records...but at the moment I'm gettin rid of a load...for space reasons.

I bought a 2008 wall calendar at a favorite Mexican food restaurant last night. It features a large print of a beautiful Aztec woman scantily clad in huge, colorful bird feathers. It was only $2.50.
