Title: Read The Lyric...
Description: ...Name The Song

Son of Spam - December 17, 2005 02:56 AM (GMT)
It's fairly easy: I'll start by posting the opening line of a song, you name the song. The person who gets it right posts the next one, and so on and so on.

Okay. I'll start:

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORD! WOOOOOOOH!

WOOH!

strifeknot - December 17, 2005 09:57 AM (GMT)
The Stooges' "TV Eye?"

Hugh McSheepshagger - December 17, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
Is it unchained Melody?

chris.southon - December 17, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
Im getting Leo Sayer...?

otherdave - December 17, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
It's gotta be Led Zeppelin...

Davey B - December 17, 2005 10:03 PM (GMT)
James Brown?

otherdave - December 17, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
The Wombles?

Davey B - December 17, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
I like the start of that Lulu record SHOUT not sure how you would go about spelling it phonetically though.
Something like....

WEH EH EH EH EH EH EH EH AYUL!

otherdave - December 17, 2005 10:51 PM (GMT)
Can we have a clue?

otherdave - December 18, 2005 11:52 PM (GMT)
[twiddling thumbs and musing "It's got to be the Wombles one day... by changing their answer each time, these fools are just missing out on the certainty of getting it right eventually"]

It's a bit slow... maybe best if people who know they've the right answer submit their question at the same time without waiting for confirmation?

SteveHamilton - December 19, 2005 06:53 AM (GMT)
OK, OK, here's one:

"You'd like to be shot of us ... the whole fucking lot of us".

See if you can guess what it is, readers. :)

max - December 19, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
It's Crass definately

I think it might be Heartthrob of the mortuary

SteveHamilton - December 19, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
Got it Max, well done.

max - December 20, 2005 07:16 AM (GMT)
Got home last night & put Christ - The Album on to check. ended up playing a bit of it. You missed the reference at the start to Tony Blackburn, SH, :D though I suppose that's not really in the song, anyway.

I would have responded quicker, but I left my 3G card at work & had no internet access last night :banghead: . Anyhow, here's a top 50 tune from a few years ago

"She turned her face to the bewitched frog......"

Thought it would be too much of a clue mate. ;)

Don't know what the answer to yours is though.

There's at least one member of this board who should know this. They've name checked the band in another thread within the last few days

late 90's (98 I think, without checking). single was on debut album :)

Either no one knows this or everyone's lost interest :(

Debut album was "One Head, Two Arms, Two Legs". Does that help?

is it ok if I google this?

at least that would move us on. I figure this one was a tad difficult

max - December 30, 2005 02:39 PM (GMT)
Google away :)

If you find the band, there's a video of the single on their website

Like I posted previously, the band have been namechecked here, I think in the "are the fall your favourite band" thread

max - December 31, 2005 09:28 AM (GMT)
Nice answer, Davey B ;)
No, it's not owner of a lonely heart :D

Dawn of the replicants is the correct band, though The Fall remain the greatest :)

max - February 25, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
proper fucked this game, i did :(

the answer is Candlefire

on edit; if someone else wants to restart this game with a new question, feel free...i'm obviously no good at setting questions that people have a chance of getting

Drjohnrock - February 27, 2007 04:28 AM (GMT)
All right, I'll start it up again. I don't think this one is that hard, but others may think otherwise:

"Poor Otis, dead and gone, left me here to sing this song"

on edit: I might have one word wrong. It shouldn't make a great deal of difference, but it might be as follows: "Poor Otis, dead and gone, left me here to sing HIS song."
