My favorite male character is Data because he's a nice android and knows an answer for everything.
My favorite femala character is Troi because she always tries to help people and she's pretty of course

Well,if Tasha Yar is taken off the poll,I'll have to cast my vote for Data.The character was very appealing.There's just something about Data's child-like innocence and sense of wide-eyed wonder of the world around him,that makes it almost impossible to not cheer for him.Data provided me with many of my most cherished memories of Star Trek:TNG(mostly for the humorous situations he,at times,found himself in).And his relationship with Lore touched me(perhaps because,like Data,I too have a "bad seed" older brother,who I cannot help but love and want to help despite everything he has done to me over the years,and to those who love him most).Data is,was(see Nemesis) a great character,thanks to Brent Spiner's genius. :)

This was a hard one... It was between Picard and Data... But, I voted for Data because he showed what it is to be human even though he wasn't human at all...

I choose Picard. He's a very well-educated, well-spoken character, which makes him a pleasure to listen to. He also knows how to use his head in a crisis. He's been through extreme traumas (his assimilation by the Borg and torture at the hands of the Cardassians), but he still remains strong. He is not reckless the way I feel that Kirk and Janeway (and sometimes Sisko) are, but he does know how to act when it's necessary.
