Title: Top Tip For 2005
Damian - December 31, 2004 01:01 PM (GMT)
If anyone's looking for a nest egg to fund their gig-going in 2005...
My tip would be to find a copy of Bloc Party's "Little Thoughts" single while you still can. It's not going to be on the album and the band are (I reckon) going to be at least as big as Franz Ferdinand.
Thank me later.

just looked on ebay at them, and it seems loads of other people have the same idea, one of the singles is going for £8.

DAMIAN! how can you even suggest that we make money off someone else's talent? i'm shocked! i really am.
There are a few copies on ebay, by the way, enough that you unscrupulous persons need not outbid me :P

I don't see where record dealing is any different from, say, antique dealing, although I've never taken it seriously - I just lucked out a couple of times.

But they are re-releasing Little Thoughts as a single? I can't decide whether that puts the value up or down. I sold Keane's Everybody's Changing just before it was re-released and it sold for just over £40. I looked just and the Fierce Panda one still sells for around the same price.
I might have suggested the debut single by The Bravery, but I just looked on ebay and it's already selling for £20 for some reason (it was only released a month ago, and I didn't get a copy)...
A minor rant, but what is the big-deal with re-releasing songs these days? Money-making (push for the album) of course, but why are The Killers re-issuing Somebody Told Me when it was a top 20 hit only a few months ago!?

I have a copy of the Fierce Panda release of Keane's 'This Is The Last Time', and the original (September/October 2003) release of The Killers' 'Mr Brightside'.
I've seen the former going for £50, and the latter for £25.
Now, I'm a bit skint... ;)

Oooh, I have those too, and a signed Fierce Panda Everybody's Changing. The most I've seen TITLT go for is about £20. I wouldn't sell the Keane CDs anyway but I never really cared for The Killers...

I listened to Xfm last night and there was a ridiculous amount of good new stuff by bands I haven't heard...
Record dealing as a career? Probably not. I have just applied for a new job, but a very dull one. I hope to apply for some interesting ones too. I'm digressing.
