Before you sell any of these, read the e-mail I've sent you. It's not because I want first dibs on them, it's because... well, take a look and you'll see.

Hmm. Am I to assume that one of those singles is worth a bit more than 50p? Which one? :-)
Rob - January 20, 2004 02:08 PM (GMT)
Hello, I would like to buy the two Helen Love singles please. I don't know your email address but mine is rob@crimped.org
Ta!

There was a Ginger single - I'm a Lover Not a Fighter. It's now on Ebay and has met the reserve price with the first bid. I think I owe Damian a drink or two.

Good work! I strongly recommend that you set yourself up a PayPal account (go to
http://www.paypal.com), and tie it into your eBay ID (it's all self-explanatory when you do it). Then go back to your eBay listing and revise it - although you've got a bid, you can still add PayPal to your list of payment options. You'll get far more bids if people have the option of using PayPal, because that enables them to pay with a credit or debit card. OK, so you lose a few pence if people pay you that way, but overall it's worth it for the extra bids you get.
I see that you sent me a message via Hotmail regarding this, but due to the weird way things are set up at work, I can see the list of messages but I can't actually read any of them!
It's amazing what people will buy on eBay... here's one of my auctions:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...egory=1600&rd=1By the way, I didn't choose my user ID, someone else recommended it for me...
Philonski - January 21, 2004 11:08 AM (GMT)
I looked into PayPal once before and dismissed it for some reason, but if you recommend it (and strongly at that) then I'll trust your judgement and go for it.
Philonski - January 21, 2004 11:23 AM (GMT)
I think I didn't understand all the stuff about credit cards. You can fund an account using a credit card, yet you can't receive payments that are funded by a credit card unless you pay charges - so if an account is funded from a credit card in advance, are you being paid by credit card or not? And if people can pay absolutely anyone in any way they want, how can you not receive credit card payments? Or does it mean that people without a PayPal account can pay by credit card? And what's a credit card? I saw a note saying that Visa and Mastercard debit cards are also credit cards, so what about other ones? I'm confused. I've filled in most of the application form, but I don't know whether to choose 'Premier' or not. Any advice?!
Damian - January 21, 2004 11:55 AM (GMT)
No worries. Set up a premier account.
All that happens then is that when anyone pays you by any means, your account is credited. The bit about a charge is basically about how PayPal make their money - whenever you receive a payment they take a percentage. For instance, someone paid £2.99 to my PayPal account yesterday and they then deducted 30p in fees (this percentage decreases for higher payments). Then, whenever you feel like it, you can transfer the money in there to your bank account. You don't need to worry about how people pay you, and what is or isn't a credit card... the money just turns up in your account.
If you ever want to pay anyone using PayPal, you can transfer money from the funds in your account, or if there isn't enough then you can upload some money to it using a credit card - this is the only time you would ever need a credit card yourself.
It's a lot easier than it sounds. Give it a pop and let me know if you have any more problems.
(You can tell I work in a support role for a living, can't you?)

Incidentally, I'm guessing here, but the Beatles and Transformers DVDs would probably go down well on eBay...

I was wondering about the CD prices more... not really a Transformers person!
Philonski - January 25, 2004 01:58 PM (GMT)
If you were a Transformers person, what would you transform into?
Alex - January 25, 2004 04:25 PM (GMT)
good question. that should be in off topic. i'd transform into a guitar. because i have so bloody many.
*tenuous link*
1 x Epiphone Les Paul. Flameburst (that classic les paul colour) 1980's i think. as far as i'm aware three careful owners. i'd like to see it go to a good home because its not getting played at all and hangs on my wall. i need it valued first then i'll find a price. offers?
alex
Sweet G 24 - January 26, 2004 01:20 PM (GMT)
Tell me the ones you want Damien & we can sort out the best price
Damian - January 27, 2004 12:23 AM (GMT)
Um... actually I made the point about prices as none were mentioned, but I'm trying to save money at the minute (Glastonbury tickets on 1 April etc.) so I'm not buying much stuff. I've bought the odd single from here and eBay but overall I need to reduce my clutter and increase my balance. Just thought it would be good to mention prices because then you should get some offers.
Feeling slightly guilty now. Sorry!
Sweet G 24 - January 27, 2004 02:00 PM (GMT)
No Problema! B)
Forget Glasto, far too commercial, lost its appeal in 2000.
Forget V & Reading as well
I'm off to 'Download' I hope!!

pm me if you get it valued, i'd love to be able to tell you i can't afford it. does it still hold it's tuning?
Alex - January 27, 2004 11:47 PM (GMT)
oh yeah! its really nice, still plays beautifully. i had it all rewired and a new switch put in aswell so theres no problems there. the tuning pegs on it are better than on a couple of my other guitars. when i get home and get it valued i'll let you know. it is nice. i need to get a new scrath plate for it though as i had "julia" engraved on the current one, as thats what it was called, after the silver sun song, sad really i know but still. my other is called jessica...

when you say engraved... properly? if it looks good, i don't mind having the current scratch plate (assuming i win the lottery soon)
Alex - January 29, 2004 03:53 PM (GMT)
doesnt look too bad. my DT teacer messed it up though. theres a scratch on it (a scratch plate!) but it looks okay. personally i prefer it without it on anyway. i'll let you know the price sometime when its valued!

hmmm.... if you do get it valued and it looks like this will be a serious deal, can i have a photo of the scrathplate? pleeease? hehe. we're nearly becoming internet buddies.
*mildly embarrased from use of the phrase "internet buddies"*

Blimey, and you've got 8 days left!
Damian - February 3, 2004 05:49 PM (GMT)
I'm not normally this lucky, so I thought I'd mention it - normally I see that something is in demand, put it on there then my copy goes for nowt.
I quite like Goldfrapp, but I'm not a massive fan, and I won this box set in a competition. I decided it was probably better off in the hands of a big fan... um, and my car just had its service which cost £175.
Of course, I didn't make myself a copy of it. Oh no.
Damian - February 11, 2004 09:10 PM (GMT)
76 quid in the end! But right now, I needed it...
