Saw Mr Benson at "Naddingheyam" (pron: Nottingham) Rescue Rooms last night.
For those of you old enough to remember, the Rescue Rooms was the place that we saw Silver Sun on 05/05/05. You may also recall it has all the charm and acoustics of a Victorian Public House Gentlemen's Convenience!
However.............
Last night Brendan Benson delivered a blistering set. Opened with four songs in a row, no breaks, all typical powerpop anthems belted out with gusto. The band was tight, the sound really good, unlike the last time I saw him there, and Mrs Nick & I had a belter of a time
It's been a while since I actually saw a band, and this made me realise that I really must get out more!
Truly exhillarating! B)
Gutted I had to miss his Bristol show (on a boat) at the weekend. A friend went and said it was great but that he played for under an hour. Last time I saw him, he played for nearly two hours and OK Go supported. Good times!
I saw Brendan Benson at (the now sadly no more) Reading Fez at around the time he released Alternative to Love. Towards the end of the set he was taking requests from the crowd, which was pretty cool. My favourite song (or at least my favourite that he hadn't already played that night) is 'What' from Lapalco, but I felt I couldn't really shout out 'What?!', as that would sound a bit silly...

Perhaps that's what he wanted...
I saw Brendan Benson at The Sugarmill a few years ago, it was an average gig. He makes the sort of music I think I'd like but I've never really got into him. I have Lapalco and something else somewhere.
